Core-dump pasting from one form field into another

Hello All, This is exercisable in Dillo 3.0.4.1, but not new. I found it by accident in my hack-up of Dillo 3.0.4. The reproduction is: - enable cookies for .google.com - navigate to https://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=html - fight the links until you get a screen with two fields, one for the username and one for the password - type something into the username field - select it and drag to the password field -- core dump I am on: - OSX 10.6.8 - Dillo 3.0.4.1 with SSL enabled - FLTK 1.3.3 - with dpid, etc from Dillo 3.0.4 with extensive hacking so the fault could be Mac-specific. Essentially the same fault (in Fl::dnd()) is reproducible in clean Dillo 3.0.4, with FLTK 1.3.2, clean dpid, etc, so I *think* it's not a product of my hackery. Clean Dillo 3.0.4 does not report the CGContextSetShouldAntialias and related errors, so I *think* that they are unrelated. Some errors and backtrace below. So far, I have not reproduced this fault in the FLTK input test program. Does anyone have a favourite piece of form html for me to try, to see if we can get out of needing gmail for the reproduction. I've consistently noticed that the image in the upper left corner of http://forum.thinkpads.com doesn't finish drawing initially. If I isolate the image or click to a second page, it'll show the whole thing properly.

How to do a local install?

It's taken me a while to get around to trying to install from the git repository. With experimental stuff, I prefer to do things in my local directory, so that if it blows up, it doesn't blow up with root permissions. I've done this in the past with other software, so I think it can be done. Note that I'm running in Gentoo, if it makes any difference. I have fltk-1.3.2 installed with USE="opengl threads xft" enabled and other fltk options disabled. I was looking at why the page numbers at the bottom of a startpage search results page aren't visible. It seems that the numbers are forms with display:inline. open_form has HT2TB(html)->addParbreak (9, html->wordStyle ()); Am I correct in thinking that the assorted addParbreak()s have to come out at some point for display to work, or is there some other plan? I note that the html5 spec has: "In quirks mode, the following rules are also expected to apply: ... form { margin-bottom: 1em; }" to provide the gap in this case.

resolution independent px

Hi, attached is a patch that would enable resolution independent handling of px as described in [1]. It would result in roughly equally sized images on high and low resolution devices at the cost of a higher overhead for additional image scaling. Is there a need for something like this? Should it be enabled via config option or should we do it automatically if we detect a DPI value that differs a lot from the standard value? Hi, I noticed, that firefox and chrome render stuff differently depending on the DOCTYPE. Attached is a small example. firefox doesn't show overlapping text but dillo does. When the DOCTYPE line is removed firefox renders the page as dillo does. Wikipedia has some information about the topic at [1]. I think at some point we need to handle these cases too. - vsource request crashes when dpid isn't working. - source is slow to render, seemingly something to do with large tables. - on some sites, rendering never stops as the horizontal scrollbar shows the page growing wider and wider. - on some sites, the ending words of a line are missing. - img alt text not constrained by width/height. - --local : reload turns off URL_SpamSafe, but there it is again upon repush. - "shift+arrows in the url bar is doing nothing instead of selecting the text".

Forbidden You don't have permission to access /index.html on this server. :( (I added some mention of 3.1 and 3.0.4.1 for clarification after noticing that our ChangeLog link only shows 3.0.4.1 at the moment.) I had this happen with another file some weeks ago, and I mentioned it to Andreas, who either fixed it or it resolved on its own somehow. I don't believe I've changed anything. My umask is 0066, but that's not new at all.

Since fltk had a release today, I was thinking about where dillo stands at present. Here are the problems that I can think of: - vsource request crashes when dpid isn't working. - source is slow to render, presumably something to do with large tables. - on some sites, rendering never stops as the horizontal scrollbar shows the page growing wider and wider. - on some sites, the ending words of a line are missing. - text search while loading, assert failed. - img alt text not constrained by width/height.

Hello all, In dpid/dpid.c at about line 204, there is a todo, that dpid_idle_timeout should be configurable. I looked at how to do this sympathetically with the existing code and blocked, because the configuration file is: - having its location calculated - being opened - being scanned into heap memory several times in the existing code. My over-response is to write a library to: - private memory-map it - parse it into a linked-list in the comments in the file and - have everyone who traversed the file now traverse the linked-list On the way, we get new functionality: - the ability to record the use of a configuration item - the ability to report on unused configuration items -- which are interesting because they're probably typos Parsing dillorc with the default options uncommented, this approach is about 4* faster than the existing approach. I think that it will also have a smaller VM footprint, because we are already paying for cooked disk buffers for the same amount of file, more times. The diff is 1400 lines, so I don't expect instant rejoicing :-) The attached file contains my test-cases, shell scripts to generate some of them, that are tricky, and the diff which inserts the code into revision b185e43. Strange linebreaking when long hyphenated words appear in table cells

The attached file demonstrates the problem. The test in the first paragraph easily linebreaks to fit the width of the window because of the potential linebreaks after each hyphen. The same text inside of a table cell forces the cell to be almost as wide as the unbroken text, although some line breaking does happen. My guess is that Dillo calculates the minimum width of the table cell without accounting for potential linebreaks after hyphens in the text. However, when it later fills the cell with the text it does allow linebreaks after hyphens. If that is correct then I think Dillo should account for potential linebreaks after hyphens both when calculating the minimum width of the cell and when filling the cell with text. The current situation is inconsistent and can deliver very poor results. Regards, Jeremy Henty

I've got dillo-3.0.4 running on Gentoo linux, with fltk-1.3.2. People here seem to be running experimental "bleeding edge" versions. I assume it's from a git repo. What are the instructions to download and build dillo, preferably in my user directory? I'm aware that it may be broken on edge cases. I'm not a C programmer. Multi-level subscripts or superscripts don't render properly -- it only renders the first level. Eg: 2<sup>2<sup>2</sup></sup> Will appear as 2^22 instead of 2^2^2 :p.

Hello, I just started another attempt to port dillo to Irix. With gcc 4.7 it compiles without any serious warnings. It starts and about:splash shows up correctly, But if you want to use it something goes wrong: ftp works without problems. files show up if the path is very short (less than 32 bytes). If you browse directories and you want to change from /tmp to /tmp/x for example. I changes to /x http doesn't work at all. If you go to a non existing url. Problems tackling a bug

Hi! I noticed that the current tip of dillo hangs in most cases when displaying <http://www.dillo.org/>. I succeeded to reproduce this bug in gdb, but get many "<optimized out>" values. So I tried to reduce optimization, but unfortunately had problems reproducing this bug: - "-O2" (standard): reproducable both stand-alone and in gdb; - "-O1": reproducable stand-alone, but not in gdb; - "-O0": not reproducable at all. Versions envolved: $ gcc --version gcc (Debian 4.7.2-5) 4.7.2 $ gdb --version GNU gdb (GDB) 7.4.1-debian Any ideas? Sebastian

Hi, This site is interesting. It gives kind of a score of web browser trackability. [1] @corvid, I thought you'd like to give it a look (AFAIR, you have submitted some standardizing to our HTTP querying in the past). It looks like our HTTP_ACCEPT and "User Agent" are the most vulnerable to tracking. It looks simple to provide some less unique alternatives in dillorc. Hello all, [Sorry if this is a dup; gmail may be playing tricks on me.] This page displays, with distortions, in dillo 3.0.4, but the image does not display after commit 317f010: https://medium.com/@verynicetweets/getting-out-of-the-house-is-so-hard-thes… A partially cleaned-up and stripped version is attached, where the comment block shows a suppression of the problem. The page is illegal: two unclosed <span>s interfere with a </div> and the following <div>. There is code around html.cc:1355, which is intended to implement heuristics to close unclosed tags but, in the cases where it is triggered, no tags are closed. So far, it has not broken on my usual workload. Gmail is noisy, so I wonder if something's going wrong there, but it looks fairly normal. Just tried searching for something using duckduckgo with midori, using the standard search, not the light one. I copied the link URL and saw that they're doing the same thing that google does -- the link URL shown at the bottom of the screen is what you expect, but the link is really a redirection through duckduckgo. Doesn't look like dillo does that -- maybe something to do with javascript, didn't matter why to me. Anyway, I didn't exactly like ddg behaving this way, and I believe I will try using startpage more often instead. (Although I have to turn off CSS to get a next button on startpage results...)

This is from a fresh hg pull, running autogen.sh (or aclocal): configure.in:472: error: AC_SUBST: `src doc' is not a valid shell variable name configure.in:472: the top level autom4te: /usr/bin/m4 failed with exit status: 1 aclocal: autom4te failed with exit status: 1 changing the line AC_SUBST(src doc) to two lines of AC_SUBST(src) and AC_SUBST(doc) fixes it.

Hello All, The row of three pictures on this web-page: http://www.avrprojects.net/index.php?view=article&id=61 renders badly in dillo, and differently from Chrome and firefox, because two of them have: width="180px" which the source-code for dillo 3.0.4 (html.cc at about line 1450) tells me used to be legal html, but isn't anymore. Dillo: - reports this as a web bug (with which I agree) - sets the length to auto (which I think means using the default width) To minimise the damage from illegal pages, without hiding the problem, I propose to assume that the numbers in all widths are sensible, and to complain about, but ignore, the trailing garbage. I also discovered that the bug message and another, suppressed, message had type problems, which I have addressed in a way that looks reasonable on osx. My proposed patch is below. Please be aware that Jorge and I started a conversation about whether this was the right thing to do, which wedged. I tested this proposed change by hacking up saved copies of the web-page in various ways. One of them, which makes a mess of the bug message, is attached, but they are not really a clean test-case. I am not aware of any automated test into which this change should be added. If someone can point me toward one, then I will think about how to test it cleanly. Stretched out images

In the current development version of Dillo (rev. 3873) images are sometimes scaled in a way that doesn't preserve the aspect ratio which make them look *really* ugly. Hi, I made a shocking experience when visiting pages like http://www.wetteronline.de/wetter/berlin hg tip dillo takes 45 seconds. The last release takes a few seconds. Starting a fresh iceweasel I need around 17 seconds. I hope there is still much room to optimize and there is a possibility to have a fast browser even with floats. Greetings Andreas Kemnade
