Hello all, I would like to be able to click on a link and invoke a local executable. As you might already know, this is similar to the activeX IE or the shell model in mozilla. And this is for a quick and dirty demo, so security isn't an issue. Is there a way I can do this with dillo (short of modifying the source code). The HTML will be on the local machine too. Hi! I'm a new user of Dillo and I'm really interested to play with it. Currently I intend to make dillo accept keyboard input(tab and enter key) rather than mouse input to select and click the hyperlink, button, textfield, etc on the web page. Currently if I press tab key, it can only move the focus between the button, and textfield. It doesn't move focus to the hyperlink.Could you please give me idea how to do it? My second question is how to apply patch for dillo? Where should I put the patch? I experience hunk failed when I try to install a patch for dillo. Thank you very much for your help. Jörgen, and everybody I just noticed that GMANE is forcing javascript to display mailing list searches :(. Well, we have the relevant dillo-dev mail folders, so maybe it's time to provide that service from our web site. There surely are good programs for doing this. Does anyone know of a good candidate? (the problem is: given a set of mailfolders, provide a search engine with an HTML interface to them). -- Cheers Jorge.-

A few days ago I noticed that GTK+ and GLib are now available through the Cygwin installer, so I started reworking my directions for building Dillo on Cygwin (currently at http://www.hyperborea.org/software/dillo/cygwin.html ). I hadn't tried it since Dillo 0.7.3, so when I built 0.8.2 with the new built-in libraries, I discovered some problems with DPI. First, since Cygwin knows it's running under Windows, it appends .exe to any executable files it builds. (When you run a command in Cygwin, it will look for the file as written, then look for it with .exe added -- so the compiler is really gcc.exe but you can still run it by typing "gcc".) This includes the DPI plugins, which end up being bookmarks.dpi.exe, downloads.dpi.exe, etc. This means dpid will not find them when it looks for available plugins unless you rename them. Second, even after renaming them, I can't get any DPI plugins to actually work. Here is the output from clicking on the bookmarks button: Nav_open_url: Url=>dpi:/bm/< url_str = dpi:/bm/ Dpi_check_uds: Connection refused /tmp/kvibber-5re3lm/dpid.srs debug_msg - init_sockdir: The socket directory /tmp/kvibber-5re3lm exists and is OK dpid started Capi_dpi_conn_timeout:: try 1 main.c:153: get_command: dpid tag is NULL : main.c:326: main: get_command failed : bookmarks.dpi (v.13): accepting connections... [accept]: Software caused connection abort File permissions on the sockets look the same as they do on a Linux box (srw-------) It may just be something about the way Cygwin handles sockets. Unfortunately I have very little experience with sockets on *any* platform (and very little experience with C, for that matter) Anyway, I figure Cygwin support probably isn't a priority, but I thought I'd point out the issues in case anyone was interested in tracking them down. -- Kelson Vibber www.hyperborea.org

Hi,everyone: I meet a problem about g_timeout_add function in dns.c file.Because I can not use the original function gtk_timeout_add based on gtk,so I replace is whit g_timeout_add,just like: dns_server[channel].timeout_id = g_timeout_add(200,(GSourceFunc)Dns_timeout_client,GINT_TO_POINTER(dns_server[channel].channel)); the origianl code is: dns_server[channel].timeout_id = gtk_timeout_add(200, (GtkFunction)Dns_timeout_client, GINT_TO_POINTER(dns_server[channel].channel)); but after I do this, the function g_timeout_add looks like no useful,so I want to get the answer,is it why???? My target is to trige the function Dns_timeout_client every 200ms,please help me. thank you:)

Hi Guys, We are preparing the dillo-0.8.3 release. Probably the most interesting feature inside of it will be the just commited "W3C + heuristics" parsing method. From the ChangeLog: <q> + * Added some 'undefined ASCII' to latin1 character conversions. + * Added the "w3c_plus_heuristics" option to dillorc. + - * Introduced a light-weight heuristic algorithm over the W3C parsing + scheme (allows for slightly better rendering: w3c_plus_heuristics=YES). </q> This is an old idea suggested by Rubén Espinoza. I merged it with the current W3C parsing, and the end result is better rendering on some sites. For instance: http://www.arts-design-team.com/good_design_starts_here.php?jump=intro http://linuxtoday.com http://www.cnn.com/ The good news is that the bug-meter also works with this scheme and that as it was merged with the newest parser features, it is _expected_ to provide even better rendering than the venerable dillo-0.7.3. So now is testing time! Please get the latest code from the CVS and compare it with 0.8.2's rendering. Look at your favorite sites and see how it works for you. Feedback is very welcomed. BTW, I'm planning to add a couple of FAQ entries to explain this. What the questions and answers will be, depends on your feedback. Good day developers! First, forgive me if anyone has already mentioned this, I just joined the list a few days ago. Perhaps some of you are familiar with a little open source OS by the name of Syllable ( http://www.syllable.org ). It's a fork of the AtheOS project, and its doing pretty well for itself. It's aimed at home users, and its goals are to be fast, and easy to use, similar (but not replicating) BeOS. One thing Syllable could use is a web browser. The native browser is based off an old 2.x khtml port and is sort of a hack. To get a full fledged browser that is easy to use, someone would need to port Gecko, or a newer khtml. Or Dillo. :o) I read that you're planning on porting to FLTK and just read the "about porting doc". Am I to understand that Dillo (or dw, rather) is already a library, separate from the GUI? How easy (forgive the question, I'm still a young grasshopper programmer) would this be to port to a Threaded C++ native widget set? Something that doesn't have GTK+ or FLTK. I know that some big browsers had the same bug for years, before it was made public. This allowed for instance, man-in-the-middle attacks by faking the destination site. Https is a very complex matter, and I'd rather prefer not to assert ours will be flawless. The least we can do is not to release one we know is broken. I hope we can make a good https dpi soon. If you want to use it anyway, assuming the risks, just get the https.c from 0.8.0 and drop it into the new tree.
