I had some trouble with my system and had to manually kill several processes. Ever since then Dillo bookmarks no longer work. I get the following: Nav_open_url: Url=>dpi:/bm/< [connect]: Connection refused Not implemented How can I fix this?

Where can I find the flock->lockf patch?

dillo-devHi, I'm going to build dillo on Windows, using Cygwin as porting tool and running envrionment. Guided by http://homepage.ntlworld.com/steven.obrien2/, I can build dillo-0.6.5 successfully. But there is no implmentation for lockf on Cygwin. So I'd like to know where can I find the flock->lockf patch. I want to apply a reverse patch on the new version of dillo. TIA. segmentation fault

Hi, Thanks for this great project, i love dillo. There is just one problem with the 0.7 version. I get a segmentation fault every time i click on a link. I newly compiled dillo-0.7.0 without any errors and i starts perfectly, but if i move my mouse over a link the url in the status bar is follow by "?135070228,-1073744832" without the quotes and the numbers may vary. If i click on the link dillo exits permanently. If i type in any urls in the address field, there is no problem. configure problems

Hi, this is what I get with the current CVS (viz later). I know that I don't have libpng, libjpeg etc installed (by mistake, I was compiling on machine without them), but I mean the 'usability ... yes ; presence ... no' problem. Hi, as I could not find some webmaster contact address at the website at http://dillo.auriga.wearlab.de/ , I'm posting to this list. I like the idea of providing some information on how to checkout the CVS version of dillo, so people without CVS experience can try it out. However, the information about CVS given on http://dillo.auriga.wearlab.de/cvs.html is incomplete. The page give the command to to a checkout, but it neglects to mention that you first have to do a login with an empty password. I'd propose you change the page to read: Check out from our server at wearLab! Just run these two commands: cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@auriga.wearlab.de:/sfhome/cvs/dillo login cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@auriga.wearlab.de:/sfhome/cvs/dillo co dillo When prompted for a password, just press Return. Now, i happen to hate frames, and prefer to do the 'fake frames in tables' thang (which other people hate :-) ) , but their are a lot of misguided webdevs out there who have chosen to implement their site with frames, and i actually need to get information from them every now and then. Changing font_factor dynamically

[Please pardon me if this is the wrong forum for such feature requests.] I'm using dillo with familiar on my iPAQ. One thing I'm regularly missing is a possibility to change the font_factor setting dynamically: For the iPAQ's small display (240x320 minus a few decorations), a single font_factor just can't fit for all different pages: For some pages, I'm glad with font_factor=0.5, with others, font_factor=0.6 is readable. I guess it's a major effort to implement a dynamical switch of the font_factor (e.g. using a pull-down menu), but I would be glad if you could discuss this feature request. -l switch not working if <base href="..."> is given

Hi, The -l switch is meant to disallow retrieving external resources. This works fine unless the html file contains a <base href="something"> tag: in that case, the external resources are retrieved. To check this, I made a test case with an excerpt of the google search page. The attached html files just display the google logo in a table. These two attached html files differ in that "index.html" has the <base> tag commented out, making it non functional, whereas in "index-base.html" it is taken into account. To test this bug, save both html files in a directory. Then create there a subdirectory called ./images where you save the logo.gif. (This is meant for index.html where the missing <base> defaults it to the current directory. In that case, dillo index.html will show the logo, as expected). Then run dillo with the -l switch on the two files: dillo -l index.html index-base.html. The index-base.html will show the logo retrieved from http://www.google.com/intl/en/. The expected behaviour is to not retrieve it. I'll try to look into this bug this weekend, but I'm not so familiar with dillo's internals, so do not expect a miracle. Dillo may look in /etc/dillorc if there was no .dillo/dillorc file in $HOME, but since $HOME/.dillo/ exists it is only logical that the script should try to install the rc file in $HOME/.dillo and not $HOME/etc Therefore I suggest that the script should look for $HOME/.dillo not $HOME/etc and it would not be a bad ideea if the dir is missing for the install script to create it... Hi, I'm typically a lurker, but I thought I would release a few modifications I made to dillo. My patch also includes someone's (I can't recall whose) patch that adds external downloading and opening in external browsers. I thought someone may be interested. Here are the modifications I made: <alt>-w closes the window (instead of <ctrl>-q) <alt>-b in viewport opens a new window with the bookmarks <alt>-u view source <ctrl>-r in viewport reloads the current page (bookmark button loads bookmarks in current viewport <ctrl>-h loads homepage vi-style scroll (h = left, j = down, k = up, l = right) <esc> button stops loading the current page (this has no effect on images--they still load if page is fully loaded) The patchfile can be found at: http://www.xmission.com/~locutus/various-locutus.patch and the modifications above can be seen at: http://www.xmission.com/~locutus/index.html#dillo If you find this useful, enjoy! Hi there! Finally, after a lot of work, the first release candidate tarball for dillo-0.7.0 is ready. The idea is to test this tarball and if it has no problems, the 0.7.0 release will be made of it (with only minor or cosmetical changes). Once again, I'm specially interested on non GNU/Linux platforms testing (bacause I already tested GNU/Linux). ------------------- Summary of changes: + Included the bookmarks server code inside the main tree (no separate tarball now, it all builds at once) + Added a workaround for nanosleep on Solaris in configure.in + Added a new icon for bookmarks and set ALT+B or ; as shortcuts. (there's also the option of hiding the icon from dillorc). + Made a new splash screen (contents and design). + Made a custom D_SUN_LEN definition to avoid inconsistencies with SUN_LEN, also switched memory clearing to sizeof and defined AF_LOCAL when not present. + Made ~/.dillorc/ have precedence over PATH when searching for plugins. + Added a SIGCHLD handler to avoid zombies when the dpi server is killed manually before dillo exits. + Bound find text to /. Now it works with CTRL+F or / + Added an icon for bookmarks. + Image tooltip now works with "title" instead of "alt". (had mistankenly switched to "text" before...) bm_srv12: + Made the convertion (import) from the old bookmarks format automatic. + Made it work when there's no bm.txt file present, and also when there's a zero sized bm.txt. + Fixed some Solaris compatibility glitches. + Fixed SUN_LEN issues. ------------------- The test emphasis should be on the new features. Please remember first to remove the bookmarks server binary from your ~/.dillo/ directory and killing the server if running, before testing. Now, a simple: ./configure make make install-strip should build and install everything right (it works here!) The plan is to make the official release this Sunday or early on Monday. Please send your feedback to this list. I'll be updating the site in the meanwhile, so please focus on the tarball. Last but not the least, the splash screen includes a link to the text version of an interview I gave to tux.cl magazine. FYI: -l option and URL redirections

Hi, When an HTTP URL is given along with the -l command line option, and if the URL is redirected by the server, the new URL is handled normally as if the -l option was not given. This behaviour can be seen with the http://www.google.com URL, at least when requesting it from France, in which case a 302 error code is given and Dillo is redirected to http://www.google.fr/. In that case, the Google logo images are downloaded. Whereas a direct dillo -l http://www.google.fr/ won't download the images. I do not consider this a serious issue, but for consistency I would have expected Dillo to show me the redirection error page with the target URL. Dillo on Solaris

Just pulled latest dillo from CVS & compiled on Solaris 8. It's a pretty slick browser. Some things to fix for Solaris builds: nanosleep() needs to be linked with -lrt. Adding something like: case $system in SunOS) LDFLAGS="$LDFLAGS -lrt" ;; esac to configure.in seems to fix that problem. Also, Solaris seems to not have AF_LOCAL and SUN_LEN defined. Dillo & Sylpheed-Claws integration page updated

Hi, I updated my pages concerning the integration of Dillo as an HTML mail viewer in Sylpheed-Claws. New screenshots reflecting the use of Dillo 0.7.0 were also added. The plans concerning Sylpheed-Claws were included, too. The URL is: http://melvin.hadasht.free.fr/home/dillo/sylpheed/ To summarize: currently, and not before Claws 0.8.11, Claws must be patched with the patches I provide in that page. It is planned that Claws 0.8.11 will officially include support to embed Dillo to view HTML mail. The current version of Claws is 0.8.9 and 0.8.10 is soon to be released. Hi there! I tried to make the release from where I'am now, but there're still some issues pending. For instance: the bookmarks server doesn't work when there's no bm.txt file, the conversion from the old format is not automatic and most importantly, bm_srv12.c code should be inside the final tarball. Some of those were fixed today (not commited yet) and the latter is pending. The problem is I don't know when I'll be able to reconnect, but in the meanwhile I will work on finishing the 0.7.0 tarball, so the next email should be something like a test petition for the candidate tarball. So far dpi over unix sockets has been tested in GNU.Linux and *BSD environments. See you soon Jorge.- PS: please keep reporting any further troubles you may find. Livio and Sebastian are still online and can take care of it.

The problem is the time gap between 'exec' and the dpi-program being operative. It should be minimal when the programs is on a local HD, but NFS may take some time. I added the wait cycles for this case, and don't know the "canonical" way to do it. Hi there! Sometime ago someone suggested removing some configuration files from the CVS. Considering all the trouble those files generate (to allow compiling by just: ./configure; make), it looks as a good idea. I'd remove: Makefile.in doc/Makefile.in src/Makefile.in src/IO/Makefile.in config.h.in configure From then, after checkout, you should run: autoheader; autoconf; automake; ./configure; make some more steps, but a lot less trouble! If someone knows beter, please say so. I haven't removed the files yet and will wait for a replay before changing it. Cheers Jorge.-

Hi there! It's been a hard time for me trying to get an Internet connection from where I'm temporary living now. That's the main reason for my abscence (as anticipated). Well, I kept working on the plugins stuff and it shows. Now the CVS has the new code (with unix domain sockets) and the CVS.html page holds the new bookmarks-server tarball. Now dillo launches it automatically and before the release the dpi code for the bookmarks server will be a part of the main tarball. The point is: testing it. Sadly I didn't received more than a single comment of its working. Now I'm asking again: please download the latest CVS, the bookmarks server, intall them, play with them, test and report how it works for you. I want to know how the whole thing looks and feels before making the release. This should be a short span, depending on feedback. Ah, if someone here has NFS mounted accounts (from another machine), I want to know how it works there. As unix domain sockets are accessible only to the local machine, and it listens on /tmp, it should work, but we need the proof! That's all by now guys. I'll be expecting your feedback! can't compile dillo

hi, it's the first time that I am trying to compile something under cygwin. I installed gtk 1.2 and glib and I am using gcc 3.2.3. I've downloaded dillo 0.6.6. After running the configure script which states that the pthread check is okay I started make. make aborted with the error message that -pthread is an unsupported option of gcc. Any ideas how to overcome the problem? Thanks for your help in advance, Gerhard

Dear All I am new to the dillo list (I am working on POESIA - see www.poesia-filter.org - which is an opensource Internet content filter; and this motivate the following question) I would like patch dillo (the latest CVS preferably) so that it could (optionally) show all the HTTP traffic (HTTP requests to web servers or proxys and responses from them). I am interested in looking at all the HTTP traffic. So the idea would be to just have a read-only GTK text widget displaying all the HTTP traffic. What whould be the easiest way to do this? (GWIW, I do know GTK quite well). Assuming the latest CVS code of dillo, would I need to hack just dillo/src/IO/http.c or should I look elsewhere? I would suppose that displaying the full HTTP traffic should interest other hackers (in particular coders of HTTP servers). external helpers patch

Hi! This patch adds a new option to the page popup menu ("Open with external browser") that allows to open the current page in another browser (defaults to mozilla and can be configured using the "external_browser" option in your dillorc file). You'l find this patch usefull If you usually start browsing with dillo and when you arrive to a page that dillo can't render you have to copy & paste the current link to another browse (ie mozilla). Also adds another option in the link popup menu ("Download with external utility") that executes a command for dowloading the current link (defaults to "xterm -e wget -c" and can be configured using the "external_downloader" option). The patched source is 0.6.6 . The edit is so minor -just URL text- that I'm submitting it without testing, because I've got to work through a long list of errors and warnings when compiling. Greetings with wishes of health and peace. I've been programming for a long time, but have never contributed to a project. My programming has been building mouse driver and graphics acceleration libraries using X86 assembly for DOS programs, serial communications (simple terminal emulator) using Mix PowerC atop DOS, file-manipulation utilities using Sun cc, and Perl/CGI with DBI. I've now made to small edits necessary to correct the links on the about:splash, and need to know the best way to create and submit a patch. I made the edits in a copy of the source for 0.6.6 that I obtained through Debian. Is the best diff to diff -pru <mySrcDir> <origSrcDir>, or just to diff the edited file with the original file? [PATCH] Limit size of Cache

Hello everyone! A long, long time ago I sent in a patch for limiting the size of the Cache in Dillo. The about:cache functionality is still there, though. I think it's nice. Oh, and I had to "undo" the changes with respect to num_bw and browser_window variables in browser.h and interface.c; they are now global again. This could be easily changed if wanted - just make a helper function in interface.c which returns a copy of browser_window. Jorge, please consider applying this patch. When will dillo enable it's user to copy from the pages it renders ? I read somewhere on the dillo site that this has been fixed, but latest cvs build doesn't seem to be enable me to copy text. -- People tend to make rules for others and exceptions for themselves. Registered Linux user #298569
