I'm working on a web page with a form which generates a PDF document in memory and returns it to the user. In the response header I have set Content-Type: application/pdf Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="foo.pdf" However, Dillo seems to ignore the specified filename and instead uses the URL base name plus query string as the default filename in the download dialog window. Any suggestions? -- August

Some of y'all might find this useful. If you put it in your path, you can invoke it "dill filename" or make it the default ap for maffs or regular htm(l)s for that matter. It lets Dillo read the Mozilla Archive File Format (*.maff) files. Maffs are pretty nice - if you haven't played with them you might like to try it. I got the new Dillo version 3.0.5 (in the master air-gapped box, which I yet have to clone onto this, for online, same hardware box), as it is available in gentoo: https://sources.gentoo.org/cgi-bin/viewvc.cgi/gentoo-x86/www-client/dillo/ but my problem with fonts (the FAQ issue http://www.dillo.org/FAQ.html#q27) to which eocene has kindly given the tip for in his message: http://lists.dillo.org/pipermail/dillo-dev/2015-April/010500.html For people reading this message offline, I'll paste his advice, since it is also important: If you go to dw/fltkplatform.cc and, in FltkFont::initSystemFonts(), remove the leading underscore in _MSG("Found font: %s%s%s\n", name, t & FL_BOLD ? " bold" : "", to get MSG("Found font: %s%s%s\n", name, t & FL_BOLD ? " bold" : "", and recompile, what does dillo say when you run it? And I was saying that that problem I still have in my 3.0.5. I hoped it would have been solved, but since it hasn't been, for me who am not really a developer, to go and recompile means first get (finally, it's been waiting for me since long) a little really deeper and dirty with the Gentoo ebuild system, and, basically compile my own ebuild... or... Or get Gentoo developers to do it for all of the Dillo Gentoo users. Since my eyes are sore from too small and non configurable fonts, I'm afraid I will have to do one of the above... For the latter, since this issue has been discussed, and previous to eocene's message you can see that I extensively described it, what do kind Dillo devs think: the second route to take, which is: file a bug on Gentoo bugzilla with basically updated real output from the new Dillo 3.0.5, might probably be shorter route to get this issue fixed? That is what I should try first, isn't it. Oh, well, I hope I haven't been too lengthy.,, Another issue I also have. Hello, I want to inform you that I have built dillo-3.0.4.1 on FreeBSD 11.0-CURRENT #1 r287459M ARM platform using FreeBSD ports. This is remarkable because all non-text browsers I have tried are crashing on ARM. (Example: https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=202775) With dillo I am able to surf the internet the first time using my Cubox. Regards Ulrich

I saw no errors in /var/log/messages though! But I'll try something. If it works for me, it might be useful for others, if not, maybe I get some help on it. Iceweasel will eventually go away. Right now getting the glue between dillo and duktake is beginning to look pretty good but I have run into a puzzle of a different kind. I put a print statement in Html_tag_open_script and Html_tag_close_script and indeed you see "in Html_tag_open_script" and "Html_tag_close_script" every time the script tag is encountered. Now if I load that signon page I get a blank screen and the messages are -> not <- displayed, and the stop Icon stays permanently on. Looking at the code I find the tag <noscript> <meta HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" content="0; url=https://guestportal.burnaby.ca/login_noscript.html"> </noscript> If I delete these lines dillo loads the page normally and every thing is fine. Looking in the table in html.cc I find: const TagInfo Tags[] = ... ... /* noscript 1011 */ ... ... blindly replaceing this line with: {"script", B8(111001),'R',2, Html_tag_open_script,NULL,Html_tag_close_script}, and changing "script" to "noscript" on the assumtion that when dillo hits the tag </noscript> it will then just continue until it hits </noscript>, throw away the data and then continue on, which it apparently does. The question is what to do about it. If it is something that is going to be implemented but nobody has got around to it then I would at least put in a: Html_tag_open_noscript() and a Html_tag_close_noscript() so that web pages don't stall when dillo hits that tag. But now that I have clicked your links, I think maybe they were. But I confess that I have not yet been able to understand. Are you saying I should change something in the source and recompile Dillo? If so, would you mind saying exactly what file and how I should change it? I don't care so much that the fonts be pretty, just legible without having to touch my nose to the monitor. Thanks for such a fast and small browser. If I could figure out how to change the UI font size so it was big enough for me to see, it would be perfect. Point me toward a link maybe? If this is doable with either the dillorc or the style.css, including a directory with more than just one example of each in the installation, or alternately, on the website, might spare y'all getting emails like this. Also, you might consider one of the ad driven free forum sites, for mutual user support. Hi, any news about TLS support? I'm running Dillo in OpenBSD -current and TLS can't be used: ** ERROR **: dpi.c: can't start dpi daemon Yes, I checked dpi daemon and privileges. I compiled dillo in linux using the flag to enable TLS support, and even there I can't use TLS. Sincerely, Dillo is the best software for www browsing in my opinion, but I can't use them without TLS support [and Vi bindings]. Regards.

Hello everybody I completely happy with dillo just the way it is. I consider it insane to go on the web with javascript enabled and apart from gmail I don't normally have cookies enabled. (how can I differentiate the two users? i.e I have dillo of user 1 on the the screen and a dillo of user 2 also on the screen but the 2 dillo's are identical in appearance). Anyway all of a sudden after using dillo for a year or so I find there is a website that I absolutely must get on but it requires javascript. Well okay I search the web to try to find something, anything that has javascript (I've been searching for day and night for about a week now) and find that there are two things 1) Massive huge bloatware 2) dillo Most things don't build, or don't have any kind of a build system or are for x86 (I'm on arm) so I figure I have to bite the bullet and build firefox. I've been rolling my own system for about 20 years so so I know whats involved but after two config failures and it failing on the gigantic final link after an 8 hour build, I come to the conclusion that lifes not worth it. I don't want that piece of junk on my computer anyway. Links2 at one time had javascript but they abandoned it and elinks has javascript as long as you have seamonkey installed (tarball>190Mbytes) Anybody got any ideas? I did find one thing. "duktape" (http://duktape.org/)which seems to be an exceptionlly fine piece of code which is an embeddable Ecmascript E5/E5.1 engine with a focus on portability and compact footprint. All the examples compiled out of the box and linking it to dillo (duktape.c duktape.h) took a few minutes to change the makefile. The size's of the files are dillo 558,480 dillo 767,456 with ducttape I don't know enough to be able to do anything with it (I work with hardware) but thought someone might be interested as a route to get javascript on dillo. Weirdly scaled images (again)

The Dillo user v4hn recently sent a message to this list regarding incorrect image scaling. She or he expresses exactly what I have on my mind: http://lists.dillo.org/pipermail/dillo-dev/2015-July/010596.html I use Dillo 3.0.4 from the Debian stable repositories and I experience the ugly image scaling on many sites, for instance on the two largest news (paper) sites here in Sweden: http://www.dn.se http://www.svd.se I can imagine that most people trying out Dillo will find the stretched-out images very off-putting. Changing the aspect ratio of an image is something you almost never want do do, and changing the aspect ratio of a photo is a big no-no. What's your view on this? Do you use Dillo with CSS disabled? Actually, I think it would be better if image scaling was not implemented at all, rather than broken like this. I'm not familiar with the Dillo code base but I'm a programmer proficient with C and I know some C++, so if I (with some hints) can help I would be more than glad to. Regards, August

Hey everyone, thanks for the great project. :-) It is awesome to have a graphical browser at ones hand that starts up in less than a second and still supports most of the stuff I need. Now, for quite some time I've been using dillo to read news on http://www.heise.de and it has always annoyed me that some of the images on the main page are weirdly scaled. Because these images are of size 160x90 but are scaled to what feels like 98% of the window's width, they are barely recognizable and distracting. Now with the new release out which still shows this behaviour, I thought I'd ask whether someone's got an idea what the problem might be in this case. Because I'm not at all familiar with the dillo source code and/or the resp. web standards I didn't dare to debug this myself up to now. Would be absolutely awesome if someone could have a look at it, v4hn

different profiles for different sites

Hi, I just wanted to share a simple idea I've found useful. Basically, I have two hotkeys to run dillo with different profiles using a trivial wrapper script: #!/bin/sh FLAVOR=$1 ; shift cd $HOME/.dillo cp dillorc.$FLAVOR dillorc dillo "$@" This way, I can have different user-agents per profile, to allow me to get different behaviors. Fix for segfault when there's no dpid and view source is requested. Fix view-source dpi to handle null characters correctly. Made view-source dpi use CSS formatting (it's shorter and cleaner). Crosscompile/buildroot-friendly fltk-config test. Fix X11 icon name. In location bar, tend toward showing beginning of URL instead of end. Handle irix's version of vsnprintf(). INPUT, TEXTAREA placeholder attribute. Better notification when user's domainrc settings block page redirection. Fix bug with font_factor preference and CSS font-size:(larger|smaller). Recognize Menu key in keysrc. HTTPS: change cipher list to "ALL:!aNULL:!eNULL:!LOW:!EXPORT40:!RC4", disable SSL3, disable TLS compression. Avoid requesting background images if an ancestor has display:none. Ignore built-in search url if any are specified in dillorc.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but what I write is in my best understanding and with the intention to help my most used browser get even better. The FAQ entry: "Why doesn't Dillo display certain images?" at: http://www.dillo.org/FAQ.html#q28 doesn't show any of: ... ... 'blog.reuters.com' to 'ad.doubleclick.net' ... as the text currently reads, which probably means they have read our FAQ and decided to change those redirections. This is what I actually get when I uncomment the line which is commented the way the built-in default settings are, as it says in the top of ~/.dillo/dillorc to read: show_msg=YES (but it shows the same even if I leave if commented out; it's the default, I retried with it commented out: same) $ Domain: Default accept. dillo_dns_init: Here we go! I pulled a few minutes ago and built it (8-year-old Intel Core 2 Duo running 64-bit Gentoo linux). It runs OK on CNN.COM and even the NHL mobile site http://m.nhl.com but with most of the tabs not working (Javascript, I assume). However, going to the main NHL site http://www.nhl.com hangs dillo and pegs a CPU. 1. freecode. Between the fact that the site's been in suspended animation for a year and there's been all of this sourceforge unpleasantness just lately, it would be nice not to link to them. 2. In my opinion, it wouldn't do any harm to remove the "News", "Additional Stuff", and "Essential Readings" links, as they have something of an Internet Circa 2002 flavor (in some ways it's a shame to think how pioneering projects like Project Gutenberg lose their preeminence as the pioneer days end, but I suppose that's the way of things). PS Been running on the 3.0.5 branch here, of course, and everything's been fine so far.

It would be nice to put out some new stuff. Primary motivations: 1. placeholder attributes for textarea/input are everywhere, and often they have no other explanation of their purpose. Having to guess "this is probably for search, this is probably for username, this is probably for password" is no fun. 2. I know there are users just trusting dillo's https, so at the least it would be good for their https dpis to have a better cipher list and to disable SSL3 and compression. And then pick out some small, safe fixes. Patch: fix the flowchart diagram in the dw::Table class docs

The main body of the dw::Table class documentation starts with a flowchart diagram of some dw::Table method calls. But this diagram refers to a method dw::Table::calcColumnExtremes() that is no longer used and has been renamed to dw::Table::_unused_calcColumnExtremes(). (There is a warning that GROWS made some of this documentation obsolete.) So I dug into the code and came up with a patch that I think fixes the diagram. I have attached before and after images of the diagram so that you can compare. Documentation in the tarball?

Hi! Does it make sense to include all developer documentation into the tarball? As an alternative, only user documentation, plus a notice where to find the developer docs, could be included, while the rest can only be found in the repository at hg.dillo.org. I assume that someone who is interested in the internals of dillo will anyway refer to the lastest version from the Hg repository. Keeping it out of the tarball would have advantages: - It makes the tarball smaller. - We developers would not have to think that much about file sizes of the documentation: these files do not go into the tarball; and for those using the lastest version from the Hg repository, it should be reasonable to spend some more disc space. I saw there was a problem, had an itch to scratch. And that's why I was hoping you would take my patch. But I knew that you would need some actual evidence To show you what I'm saying really makes some sense. I saw a flowchart image in the HTML page And noticed with regret that it had rotted with age. It linked to a method that wasn't there no more And that's when I decided I should settle this score. I made a better version and then sent it to you And I chose to enclose the original too But sadly those two images were too big for the list So now now your mailer's told me I should cease and desist. Please, list moderator, let my work through. Whatever you may think I only did it for you. I have helped you before, I want to help you once more. Alternative styles support?

Hi, Dillo team. Are there plans about supporting alternative page styles? I mean, those defined by <link rel="alternate stylesheet" />. This should be really easy to be implemented. In addition, if there is defined style with name="Dillo", it can be switched by default and this way to provide better support for Dillo from the web masters. When accessing some sites, say for example http://thepiratebay.org , wget seems to successfully follow the "301 Moved Permanently" redirects a few times, but Dillo only seems to do one redirect and then stops. The last output is: HTTP warning: Message with a body lacked Content-Type header.

I've been using dillo for my regular browsing for a few weeks longer than from when I started the thread: Secure: yes, Though Features Missing; and Bugs http://lists.dillo.org/pipermail/dillo-dev/2015-April/010495.html on dillo mailing list, and I'd like to help at least occasionally with the sole kind of contribution that I can offer: reporting like those in that link, as I'm not a developer, and can program very little only. I have a new one report. on issue that I only mentioned (and wouldn't know how to solve back then) over at: Grsecurity/Pax installation on Debian GNU/Linux http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=108616&start=60#p577608 But I can try and tell more about it as I saw the same missing edit and delete buttons in: https://forum.sleuthkit.org/ where, to verify it, one would need to register, I believe. And while that registering on a specialized tool forum can take a few hours or more time to get the maintainer's approval, true, I believe it is the same kind of missing functionality and in the Debian Forums, so I guess one can verify this behavior by, if they are not, registering into Debian Forums. I have noticed the same edit and delete buttons missing in Debian Forums too, and I choose the Sleuthkit Forum, because I'm currently posting on it, and can accomplish this report with much more ease then on Debian where I am done with my posts for some time. I have a slow and lengthy (and tiring: too advanced for me) topic on Sleuthkit Forum: An Avi Video Recovery with SleuthKit http://forum.sleuthkit.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2441 ) and I have actually managed to edit my posts, and I managed to delete one (only the post not replied to can be deleted on Sleutkit Forum). But not by clicking on the respective icons, as they don't show in dillo. But by issuing Ctrl-U to open the source of the page while logged in and having my topic opened in my dillo browser and searching for the right (relative) link under the icon 'edit-icon' or 'delete-icon' and reconstructing the right page, because that was the only way to do it. I did search thoroughly, and no link, even on empty surfaces, did I manage to detect under the mouse (as I didn't in Debian Forums either). font size / dpi

On a 125 dpi display, web pages tend to be tiny. For font_factor, dillorc claims "All font sizes are scaled by this value", but that's only true for html sizes and the css sizes like 'small' 'x-large' etc. [hmm...speaking of which, I see there's a bug in there for 'larger' and 'smaller' where we apply font_factor erroneously.] We should either change the claim or make it true. Also, I was refreshing my memory on the resolution-independent px discussion from January. Mostly it was about concern for the cost of scaling images, and I realize that we kind of have to deal with images or else everything doesn't fit together, but...it would be nice in some ways if we could at least scale font sizes by dpi (the css px ones and the assorted 14's that we have around in src/ ).

(So people reading later, open the, hopefully, webm files. That's how it was, talking to you in the future.) Those mkv files will, hopefully, soon be replaced with the HTML5 compliant webm files. I was only able to use dillo after reverting my 1024x768 capable old monitor, to 800x600, in another display in X (:1.0 in, say, ffmpeg command line), else, I would have gone blind from effort to read. And I still have difficulty reading some of the pages. ##################################################################### The Homepage is particularly too hard to read for, I guess at least a non-insignificant though small percentage (no, not less than a small percentage number, it's not insignificant!) of visitors. The background must be very light. As soon as it is too dark, the font is not easily readable. ##################################################################### I'm not at poor-accessibility eyesight yet, I don't have problems with most of pages. I really don't. Pls. take notice of this claim of mine and value the outlined paragraph with respect to that claim! I hope this will help dillo homepage become more readable. So, first I really need the fonts, and will follow your kind advice, eocene, on the fonts, as soon as I find more free time. domainrc is great thing to try to sort too, but the other issue is urgent. Hi! To me it is most important to avail myself of the security that dillo pretty much provides to me. What I can say, and recommend to anybody who has problems with `bulk collection' that they see in typical kind of actions deployed inside or on the way to, or on the way from, their machines... Sadly with `bulk collection' (previously known as `mass surveillance'; it comprises data harvesting and more) often go even worse kind of actions in privacy-repressive regimes: intrusions, even attacks... What I can say, is: I have so much fewer cases of the aforementioned issues when browsing with dillo, then I do when I have to, due to Javascript haven't yet been implemented in dillo, [than when I have to] use SchmoogleFox. So much fewer of those kind of problems! And yes, the Google, the Octopus of the Internet and the Surveillance Engine of the World, yes the Schmoog is sitting in the Firefox, in most of the regular users' machines who little depart from default configuration, and I don't think Mozilla harvesting itself can be easily disabled (you may remove direct Google harvesting/spying/other, but the Mozilla cloud is there, rest assured, for Google to use, fully!), and you can not, not that I know of an easy way --disprove me somebody!-- easily disable harvesting in Firefox... The security of dillo is generally such that I can usually rest calmly when I browse with dillo. And so I can recommend dillo to anybody who has problems with censorship, and when censorship of an oppressive regime is revealed, usually some kind of intrusion attempts, and/or attacks, are made against the one who managed to reveal it. The first is the upgrade to Doxyfile, the other three are small fixes to errors that doxygen happened to notice. Problem with page positioning.

Hi all. It is my first post on this mailing list. I want to use Dillo as a HTML help browser for my program. I need it, because it has faster startup time and this is very important for a help system, where the user presses F1 and expects the help to open instantly. (What is not the case with all other browsers). Anyway, the problem I have is that when starting Dillo with URL that contains local anchor ID, it first positions properly, but short time later, (when the CSS get loaded?) it repositions the page and the needed element moves somewhere else, very far from the current page position. Example that can be tested: http://fresh.flatassembler.net/index.cgi?page=content/articles/2_FreshLibDo… Once the page is loaded (on the wrong position), pressing Ctrl+R or clicking on "Reload" button, repositions the page to the proper position. Is this problem can be easily solved? I can try to fix it by myself, but my C/C++ skills are very low and then I will need some assistance. Dillo documentation delivered daily

My website is up again[1] and I have added a daily build of the Dillo documentation (having noticed that the version on the Dillo site is over a year old). Doxygen generates quite a few errors when building the docs. I would like to fix them (if only to have less noise from my cron jobs). Would the Dillo devs be interested in the patches?
