Alternate bookmarks interface

Hey everyone, Here's my latest patch if anyone's interested. As nice as the bookmarks DPI is, I personally prefer a more traditional interface (and since Windows doesn't run DPI anyway, I had a good excuse to code one). The patch itself is here: http://dillo-win32.sourceforge.net/patches/31-bookmarks.diff Some basics: - Clicking on the bookmarks button now displays the bookmarks menu. - Unclassified bookmarks are displayed at the bottom of the bookmarks menu; other sections are displayed as submenus. - Right-clicking a bookmark or section (submenu) lets you edit that bookmark or section. - Middle-clicking a bookmark opens it in a new window or tab, depending on your preferences. (I may also add the ability to middle-click a section to open all the bookmarks in separate tabs.) Right now the code's a little rough around the edges, and the "Bookmark this ____" right-click option doesn't work (the bookmarks menu itself is fine), but it seems to be fairly stable if you want to try it out and let me know what you think. Printing support

I figured since we've got all that Fl_Printer stuff anyway, maybe we should put it to good use. So here's a (very early) patch to add printing support to Dillo: http://dillo-win32.sourceforge.net/patches/30-print.diff It's turned on with a ./configure option (and disabled by default), so you don't need to link in Fl_Printer if you don't want to. I'm not looking to get it into mainline yet, mostly I just want to show what I've got so far in case anyone is interested. FLTK scheme

There is an environment variable that FLTK reads and which allows the user to select the scheme he likes best. I set it to: FLTK_SCHEME=grad1 With this variable you can also select the scheme to use with Dillo, since it is based on FLTK (tested with 3.0pre). (ie. addons, passwords, ...) is now opening in a browser tab/window instead of a widget/applet. Which is how I think it should be. The only downside that I see with dpid, it's not easy to upgrade, quit & start dillo. dillo close dialog and fluxbox on dual head

Hi i dont know if this is a problem with dillo or with fluxbox, but when i try to close a dillo with several tabs, i get always the close dialog (title is Choice5) on my secondary X11 head. If i try to setup fluxbox to force the dialog to open on head 1, it still opens on head 2. if i do the same thing for all other dillo dialogs, like open file, search (title ask), etc , i fluxbox puts the window in the configured head. If i try to set the position and head, fluxbox puts the dialog in the right position, but in the wrong head. If i try to run the fltk-1.3/test/message test, i can setup the head of those messages without any problem. i'm using the latest dillo3 "hg version" with the latest fltk1.3 svn , running on a slackware64 with Fluxbox 1.3.1 and a dual head setup. The main head (1) is right, secondary head (2) is left. They are setup with xrandr on a ati r600 card: xrandr --output DVI-0 --auto --primary --dpi 96 --output VGA-0 --left-of DVI-0 --auto --dpi 96 xrandr --output DVI-0 --primary --set underscan off As dillo is the only app i found with this problem, and even other dillo windows work fine, i suspect something in dillo3 or in fltk1.3 that is forcing the Choice5 dialog to stay on head 2... probably just because is on the left (so closer to the 0,0 X11 virtual display corner), instead of using the virtual position of each head. What you think? should i open a bug in fluxbox, in fltk or is this a dillo problem? Query dpid or running dillos

Is there a way to query dillo (or dpid?) for the links it currently has open? (dpidc/dillo don't seem to have such an option :p) "dillo --xid XID" is able to access a specific window... but I guess there is no way to currently read that "property" (link). (Oh, speaking of which, the "--xid XID" feature is buggy here ... it loads the link, but renders with a wide (200pixel-ish?) margin on the left, which doesn't match the actual clickable button/link-areas on the page. Dillo version 2.2.1, fltk-1.3.0.)

I just noticed, pulling a git/svn/cvs copy yesterday, I can only open so many tabs (screen/display width?) and then Dill will stop opening new tabs after a link is clicked to open in a new tab. The only thing printed within the startx stdout is "Nav_open_url:(include_clicked_url_here) and no other activity such as "a_Nav_expect_done: repush!" or "[cookies dpi]:" etc... -- Roger http://rogerx.freeshell.org/

AFAIS, either one is possible... Me not being able to reproduce it says it's most probably be OK for the codepaths I tested (FWIW, the ones I can see). If there's an untested codepath, well... OTOH, valgrind produces some false positives (its docs say it) and gcc optimization can also play a role... So, I'd try to find a simple test case that produces the log. Then, test this problematic codepath here, and see what comes out of the exercise. Can you reproduce the bug? Do you have a simple test case? -- Cheers Jorge.-

margin-bottom counted twice

Hi, I found that current dillo uses twice the given margin-bottom: value. See attached margin_bottom.html. It is related to commented out code in textblock.cc. Attached patch tries to fix it while not breaking the test cases in http://www.dillo.org/test/img/ I'm not 100% sure about removing the "if" in Textblock::wordWrap(), but why shouldn't a widget's top margin count in the first line of a paragraph? problems with very long alt text

With remote stylesheets off and images off, opening http://www.dillo.org/test/long_alt_text.html and dragging the horizontal scrollbar left and right for a little while will make my machine suddenly start to page madly. from what I could see from valgrind and top, nothing looked amiss in dillo or X, but even after dillo can finally close (if it can), too many resources are tied up somehow and I need to restart X to have a really usable system. I changed the alt text back to using drawText(), and it didn't matter much that I could see. I tried using a width of 16K instead of the 25K or so that was the real value. This didn't seem to help either.

Tab close button gets clobbered by tabs

Hello all, This evening I discovered that if I open too many tabs, the close tab 'X' at the top right of the browser gets clobbered out of sight, until I close some tabs (with CTRL-w). On the old Dillo (2.x), you could open a fair amount of tabs, and the x would never be clobbered, but instead a new instance of Dillo would start, after (I presume) a predetermined amount of tabs were opened. On another note, while fiddling with the tabs on Dillo 3 and 2.x, I got comparing the two, and I think I like the look of the old version better. I have two reasons: 1) I think the old version tabs look nicer (I realize not everyone will think like me), and more like the tabs you would see in other browsers. 2) From a practical standpoint, the old tabs seemed to behave a little nicer, in that they would adjust their size a little bit to show more of the title of the page opened in it. As it stands with Dillo 3, you can't see much of the title text before it gets an ellipsis. Regards, Rob

Horizontal scrolling with mouse buttons

I have a Logitech wheel mouse which supports horizontal scrolling by pressing the scroll wheel to either the left or right. These actions generate mouse button events where the button is identified as either "6" or "7" respectively. Dillo handles these horizontal scroll events properly, but afterward the scrollwheel no longer works for vertical scrolling (the scrollwheel up/down events are reported as buttons "4" and "5" respectively); instead the scrollwheel results in left/right scrolling. I am running Dillo 2.2 on a Slackware system. Regards.

It seems that things still aren't quite right. With my original example that went <div> <a href="http://www.dillo.org">I am a link. How exciting!</a> <div>a div. Move down here and the link url is still shown.</div> Ordinary text outside of the div. Status output is blanked when moving down he re. </div> the problem is now that I move up to the link, and the status output is shown, then I move down into the child div, and the status is correctly cleared, then I move up into the link again, and the status is still blank.

dillo3-pre does not display images

Trying www.nytimes.com or www.huffingtonpost.com or www.politico.com. While the frames are all messed up (as in Dillo 2.2), now even the images do not get displayed. I don't know if this is a problem with ICEWM on my machine or dillo. I've only seen it with dillo, so I assume that's the source. I'm running Gentoo Linux (pure 64-bit mode) on an Intel i3, with ICEWM as the WM. I have a 1920x1080 LCD monitor. FLTK 1.3 and dillo3 are under /home/waltdnes/local, and PATH includes /home/waltdnes/local/bin I did an "hg pull" last night, so this should be a recent version. In ~/.dillorc, I have... geometry=950x1050+960+0 but pressing {ALT}{LEFT-MOUSE} on the dillo window frame reports a geometry of 850x949+956-24 Looking at the display, I see two separate problems... 1) Positioning ============== The URL is flush against the top of the display, and the title bar is off the top of the display. Changing ~/.dillorc to... geometry=950x1050+960+24 results in the title bar being fully visible, like I expect. I don't know whether it's a fixed offset of 24, or if dillo is ignoring the height of the WM window decoration when positioning at startup. 2) Reporting size ================= When I click {ALT}{LEFT-MOUSE} on the frame, the reported size values are too small. I specify size 950x1050 in the .dillorc geometry setting but the reported size is 850x949. The *ACTUAL* size of the dillo window appears to be correct, but the *REPORTED* size is wrong. I have an Opera window open that's 950x1050, and the dillo window overlays it almost exactly. I maximized the dillo window using the WM maximize button on the upper right. {ALT}{LEFT-MOUSE} on the dillo window frame, reports 1820x959-4-4 but my display is 1920x1080. The reported geometry seems to have the x-coordinate consistently 100 pixels too small. The y-coordinate is also too small, but I'm not sure of the exact amount, or whether it's constant. After upgrading to dillo-2.2.1, many thumbnail sites, like images.google.com for example, don't work properly. I get messages like: Capi_filters_test: DENY from 'images.google.ca' to 't3.gstatic.com' and the thumbnail doesn't display. Oddly enough, it does display after I click on the thumbnail. Ideas?

I've got a segfault using dillo_port1.3 by continuously hitting the Reload button with the following url: http://www.google.com/search?aq=f&hl=en&gl=us&tbm=nws&btnmeta_news_search=1… After about three or four taps, dillo disappears and I don't see anything within the debug output from the startx window. (Using DWM and manually starting startx within a terminal here.) I don't think I've compiled with -g, -ggdb, etc... but here's what I've got so far. I'll try to bit-bang this a little bit more tomorrow when I get time if nobody else gets this. My guess so far, when running within GDB, reload button works continuously without crashing until I start clicking before the page finishes reloading, then segfault. CSS complained about "no values" for padding, and it turned out to be something like <element style="padding: 10px 15px"> Html_get_attr2() is removing the '\n' completely. It turns out that we're doing the right thing (whereas I expected it to be replaced by a ' ') because the style attr is %StyleSheet, which is CDATA, and we are instructed to "Ignore line feeds" for CDATA. But I'm writing this down anyway because it surprised me, and it's good to save this away in the list archives (which may well have a few variations on this already from years past). (Or is it coming to be time to admit defeat for html4 and start looking in the shocking endless immensity that is html5 when it comes to such matters?)

Questions about beta testing

Hi all; I joined the list recently. It's been a long time since I last ran beta software consistently. Ironically, it was the Phoenix browser beta (later to become Firebird, and then Firefox). I was unhappy about how bloated the major browser had become, and I wanted a lightweight browser. It looks like I've come full circle. Iam not a C programmer. I'm a "power user" instead. I remember about extracting the tarball, going into its directory and then executing... ./configure --with-various-options && make && make install ...but that's about all. Like the subject says, I have some questions 1) I assume that all files that go into /usr/whatever in a normal install under a package manager, will end up in /usr/local/whatever if I build from the tarball. Is that correct? 2) How do I uninstall the program? Or can I simply install new versions over top of old ones? 3) Can I assume that the configure defaults are the reverse of the options? E.g. if the "configure" file has... --enable-ssl Enable ssl, https (ALPHA CODE) --enable-ipv6 Build with support for IPv6 --disable-cookies Don't compile support for cookies --disable-png Disable support for PNG images ...then are the defaults --disable-ssl --disable-ipv6 --enable-cookies --enable-png ? Which one is the default here? Is CHOST used outside of Gentoo's package-management? And how do I pass MAKEOPTS to make? Yes, I know that "-j1" slows down the build process slightly. But the final binary is just as fast. And the first time you waste a couple of hours on mysterious failures during the build process, you lose all the time you "saved" with a higher "-j" value. I see it every so often on the Gentoo mailing list. changing cursor, open() calls

I was running dillo under strace, and whenever the cursor moves over a link, out comes: open("/home/corvid/.icons/default/cursors/hand2", O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) open("/home/corvid/.icons/default/index.theme", O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) open("/usr/share/icons/default/cursors/hand2", O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) open("/usr/share/icons/default/index.theme", O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) open("/usr/share/pixmaps/default/cursors/hand2", O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) open("/usr/share/pixmaps/default/index.theme", O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory) ..and looks for an xterm cursor when over a Fl_Input, and then looks for things like open("/usr/share/X11/locale/compose.dir", O_RDONLY) = 4 open("/usr/share/X11/locale/iso8859-1/Compose", O_RDONLY) = 4 ..now and then when dealing with the toolbar or its tooltips or something. Maybe FLTK has a deep reason for this, but I would have expected it to make up its mind when it first needed all of this during execution.

style bug, perhaps

I reload the following, and the link border around the first image disappears. If the problem's in the style attr copying/comparison/etc., I'm failing to see it. I can see that the style has border type of none and border width of 0. I started to try to watch ":link img, :visited img {border: 1px solid}" get applied, but... <html> <body> <a href="whatever.html"> <img src="whatever.jpg"> </a> <button type='submit' name='button'"> <img src="something.jpg" alt="Search"> </button> </body> </html> BTW, Jeremy's valgrind logs have an interesting variety of 1.3 bugs for us now.

Images Not Updating (Using Cache on Page Reload)

I just noticed, dillo_port1.3 using fltk-1.3 is not refreshing/reloading images when page Reload is pressed. The images I noticed not reloading are found on my weather forecast page: http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?zoneid=AKZ222 (... thinking, this might be more in depth such as the images being embedded in javascript or something which mitigates this issue.) -- Roger http://rogerx.freeshell.org/

Hi there, Fltk-1.3 is out there, and we've worked our pending issues list. What's still pending? BTW, I'm working on a focus bug (recently discovered): loading [1], and scrolling down with the down arrow key, makes the rendering area lose focus (taken by the selection list when it becomes visible), and mouse-clicking doesn't recover it. You are all likely to cringe in horror when you see what I have been up to today. I basically wanted to add hover/tooltip functionality for elements which contain the title attribute.
