I had the pleasure of trying out Dillo win32 and I must say I like it. (It starts a heck of alot faster then that bloated green lizard thing ... sorry, the name doesn't come to mind right now. ;-) Only one or two things. 1) When I first installed it. I was completely stumped as to how to use the bookmarks. I was trying to add a bookmark without going to the actual site first. One thing that could really eleviate all this, is by setting a few preset default bookmarks (ie. www.google.com, and other favorite search engines.) Notice, there's no "add bookmark" within the menu and you have to have the insight to right click on the displayed page to get this menu.) 2) Copy & paste work only within the displayed page and not within the url field. (Although I really miss middle button pasting in Windows.) 3) One thing I really dislike about Windows, there's no main package manager like the Linux distributions for updating all of your other win32 open source packages. Think most packages & drivers have been all implementing their own update check routine within their Help menus, etc. Now, they just have to get the idea of updating their own packages, such as Adobe Reader. Dillo win32, installs within a few seconds or so. Dillo starts within a few seconds too. Dillo win32 is functional as well.

Hi, attached is a preliminary patch for white-space: nowrap handling. It' supposed to fix the following issues: * Weird page width in combination with white-space:nowrap sequences (e.g. on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_browser. * Line breaks at tags (e.g. <b>D</b>illo should not break after the "D". (similar issue on http://fltk.org/newsgroups.php?gfltk.development+T) without breaking: * zero width space handling. * ideographic character handling. It's not ready for commit yet, as google results don't render deterministically the same way. Nevertheless please give it a try and report how it works for you. Cheers, Johannes

Anybody else notice the mouse wheel is slow within Dillo? Comparing dillo_port1.3 to Seamonkey, dillo_port1.3 is almost 80-90% slower compared to Seamonkey. Comparing dillo_port1.3 to dillo, dillo_port1.3 is slower by approx. 50%. -- Roger http://rogerx.freeshell.org/

Hi Sometimes i find sites where the right or left border space doesnt exist and the text is "touching" the window border, making it difficult to read... This page[1] renders badly in Dillo - the text wraps to a width much wider than the browser window. But when I save the page locally it renders fine! How is this possible? The only CSS is a small inline <style>, which rules out the obvious guess of a style sheet failing to load. Fixing all the relative URLs to absolute ones has no effect. I'm mystified. Any ideas? Close dillo with multiple tabs open

Dear Dillo developers, I just noticed a small misbehaviour when trying to close a Dillo window (using ALT+F4 or CTRL+q) with more than one tab open: A window pops up and asks wether I am sure to close. At this point I unfortunately can't use the ENTER key to confirm. I think I would be very convenient for the user to make the ENTER key work. Another question here: Please tell me if I'm wrong, but there seems to be no dillorc option to omit the mentioned popup window completely. Do you think it would be convenient to have one? Hi, Sorry to ask something perhaps really dumb, but when I click on some links, eg a pdf file, I get prompted to save the file. Is it possible for me to transfer the file to some external program (say /usr/bin/epdfview) to open after download? Does this have to programmed in somewhere? Where? As a dpi? If the latter, where are the instructions? I looked at hello.c for an example but I was no sure what to do with the C program. Where do i compile it and how? Thanks for the help! Best wishes, T

As an aside to the scheme issue, I just found that if I add in a Fl::get_system_colors(); (I put it after the make_current()) and then added the following to .Xdefaults: dillo*background: red dillo*foreground: yellow Then dillo's dialogs, and certain parts of the UI, and -- interestingly -- the default text color on pages, well, it all turns rather red&yellow in general. The src talks about KDE, at least, setting those values in xrdb. If it should happen that many of the various desktop environments set these values, getting this all to work reasonably correctly might be pleasing to everyone nowadays who expects all of their windows to look similar. People are very first-impression ("It's ugly!" *deletes*)...

Hello again, I've finally updated my preferences GUI patch for Dillo 3.0. (It's 2011 -- nobody should have to manually edit configuration files, especially for a graphical program!) I just tried changing the value of FL_NORMAL_SIZE, and I was very surprised by how well everything copes overall. If I had bad vision and needed, say, font_factor=1.4, I'd _strongly_ prefer this patch despite the various bits of UI size hardcoding that it reveals. - I think the Tools menu imperfection comes from "if (flags & (FL_MENU_TOGGLE|FL_MENU_RADIO)) w += 14;" in Fl_Menu.cxx, but I haven't taken the minute to verify that yet. - Choice5 does not handle it well. I made a nicer choice5 a few months ago, but Jorge didn't like it.

What does this message mean? I am running fedora 15 and I have both pkg-config as well as the following packages installed: libpng-1.2.46-1.fc15.x86_64 libpng10-devel-1.0.55-1.fc15.x86_64 libpng-devel-1.2.46-1.fc15.x86_64 libpng10-1.0.55-1.fc15.x86_64 Here is the relevant portion: there is no libpng14 on fedora, but there is mingw32-libpng-1.4.8-1.fc15.noarch which puts libpng14-config strangely into /usr/i686-pc-mingw32/sys-root/mingw/bin/libpng14-config. checking for libpng-config... which: no libpng14-config in (/usr/local/bin:/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/sbin:/sbin) /usr/bin/libpng12-config checking for libpng version... 1.2.46 (newer version) ..... everything else compiles "fine"....

Alternate bookmarks interface

Hey everyone, Here's my latest patch if anyone's interested. As nice as the bookmarks DPI is, I personally prefer a more traditional interface (and since Windows doesn't run DPI anyway, I had a good excuse to code one). The patch itself is here: http://dillo-win32.sourceforge.net/patches/31-bookmarks.diff Some basics: - Clicking on the bookmarks button now displays the bookmarks menu. - Unclassified bookmarks are displayed at the bottom of the bookmarks menu; other sections are displayed as submenus. - Right-clicking a bookmark or section (submenu) lets you edit that bookmark or section. - Middle-clicking a bookmark opens it in a new window or tab, depending on your preferences. (I may also add the ability to middle-click a section to open all the bookmarks in separate tabs.) Right now the code's a little rough around the edges, and the "Bookmark this ____" right-click option doesn't work (the bookmarks menu itself is fine), but it seems to be fairly stable if you want to try it out and let me know what you think. I figured since we've got all that Fl_Printer stuff anyway, maybe we should put it to good use. So here's a (very early) patch to add printing support to Dillo: http://dillo-win32.sourceforge.net/patches/30-print.diff It's turned on with a ./configure option (and disabled by default), so you don't need to link in Fl_Printer if you don't want to. I'm not looking to get it into mainline yet, mostly I just want to show what I've got so far in case anyone is interested. FLTK scheme

There is an environment variable that FLTK reads and which allows the user to select the scheme he likes best. I set it to: FLTK_SCHEME=grad1 With this variable you can also select the scheme to use with Dillo, since it is based on FLTK (tested with 3.0pre). (ie. addons, passwords, ...) is now opening in a browser tab/window instead of a widget/applet. Which is how I think it should be. The only downside that I see with dpid, it's not easy to upgrade, quit & start dillo. dillo close dialog and fluxbox on dual head

Hi i dont know if this is a problem with dillo or with fluxbox, but when i try to close a dillo with several tabs, i get always the close dialog (title is Choice5) on my secondary X11 head. If i try to setup fluxbox to force the dialog to open on head 1, it still opens on head 2. if i do the same thing for all other dillo dialogs, like open file, search (title ask), etc , i fluxbox puts the window in the configured head. If i try to set the position and head, fluxbox puts the dialog in the right position, but in the wrong head. If i try to run the fltk-1.3/test/message test, i can setup the head of those messages without any problem. i'm using the latest dillo3 "hg version" with the latest fltk1.3 svn , running on a slackware64 with Fluxbox 1.3.1 and a dual head setup. The main head (1) is right, secondary head (2) is left. They are setup with xrandr on a ati r600 card: xrandr --output DVI-0 --auto --primary --dpi 96 --output VGA-0 --left-of DVI-0 --auto --dpi 96 xrandr --output DVI-0 --primary --set underscan off As dillo is the only app i found with this problem, and even other dillo windows work fine, i suspect something in dillo3 or in fltk1.3 that is forcing the Choice5 dialog to stay on head 2... probably just because is on the left (so closer to the 0,0 X11 virtual display corner), instead of using the virtual position of each head. What you think? should i open a bug in fluxbox, in fltk or is this a dillo problem? Query dpid or running dillos

Is there a way to query dillo (or dpid?) for the links it currently has open? (dpidc/dillo don't seem to have such an option :p) "dillo --xid XID" is able to access a specific window... but I guess there is no way to currently read that "property" (link). (Oh, speaking of which, the "--xid XID" feature is buggy here ... it loads the link, but renders with a wide (200pixel-ish?) margin on the left, which doesn't match the actual clickable button/link-areas on the page. Dillo version 2.2.1, fltk-1.3.0.)

I just noticed, pulling a git/svn/cvs copy yesterday, I can only open so many tabs (screen/display width?) and then Dill will stop opening new tabs after a link is clicked to open in a new tab. The only thing printed within the startx stdout is "Nav_open_url:(include_clicked_url_here) and no other activity such as "a_Nav_expect_done: repush!" or "[cookies dpi]:" etc... -- Roger http://rogerx.freeshell.org/

AFAIS, either one is possible... Me not being able to reproduce it says it's most probably be OK for the codepaths I tested (FWIW, the ones I can see). If there's an untested codepath, well... OTOH, valgrind produces some false positives (its docs say it) and gcc optimization can also play a role... So, I'd try to find a simple test case that produces the log. Then, test this problematic codepath here, and see what comes out of the exercise. Can you reproduce the bug? Do you have a simple test case? -- Cheers Jorge.-

margin-bottom counted twice

Hi, I found that current dillo uses twice the given margin-bottom: value. See attached margin_bottom.html. It is related to commented out code in textblock.cc. Attached patch tries to fix it while not breaking the test cases in http://www.dillo.org/test/img/ I'm not 100% sure about removing the "if" in Textblock::wordWrap(), but why shouldn't a widget's top margin count in the first line of a paragraph? With remote stylesheets off and images off, opening http://www.dillo.org/test/long_alt_text.html and dragging the horizontal scrollbar left and right for a little while will make my machine suddenly start to page madly. from what I could see from valgrind and top, nothing looked amiss in dillo or X, but even after dillo can finally close (if it can), too many resources are tied up somehow and I need to restart X to have a really usable system. I changed the alt text back to using drawText(), and it didn't matter much that I could see. I tried using a width of 16K instead of the 25K or so that was the real value. This didn't seem to help either.

Tab close button gets clobbered by tabs

Hello all, This evening I discovered that if I open too many tabs, the close tab 'X' at the top right of the browser gets clobbered out of sight, until I close some tabs (with CTRL-w). On the old Dillo (2.x), you could open a fair amount of tabs, and the x would never be clobbered, but instead a new instance of Dillo would start, after (I presume) a predetermined amount of tabs were opened. On another note, while fiddling with the tabs on Dillo 3 and 2.x, I got comparing the two, and I think I like the look of the old version better. I have two reasons: 1) I think the old version tabs look nicer (I realize not everyone will think like me), and more like the tabs you would see in other browsers. 2) From a practical standpoint, the old tabs seemed to behave a little nicer, in that they would adjust their size a little bit to show more of the title of the page opened in it. As it stands with Dillo 3, you can't see much of the title text before it gets an ellipsis. Regards, Rob

Horizontal scrolling with mouse buttons

I have a Logitech wheel mouse which supports horizontal scrolling by pressing the scroll wheel to either the left or right. These actions generate mouse button events where the button is identified as either "6" or "7" respectively. Dillo handles these horizontal scroll events properly, but afterward the scrollwheel no longer works for vertical scrolling (the scrollwheel up/down events are reported as buttons "4" and "5" respectively); instead the scrollwheel results in left/right scrolling. I am running Dillo 2.2 on a Slackware system. Regards.
