There is no reason to have a name for structs when we just want to typedef them. BTW identifiers that begin with underscore are reserved. Attached patch fixes all typedefs.

Now progress bar is implemented as custom widget on top of Fl_Widget class. But FLTK already has Fl_Progress class for the same thing. Progress bar looks the same with two exceptions: 1. No tooltip: it is not displayed for Fl_Progress even when set. Normally progress bars, labels and other widgets for status information don't have tooltips so I think it is ok. 2. When downloading file without Content-Length, progress bar is always empty. With current implementation it changes for one percent on every update and remains somewhere in the middle when download is finished. For me keeping it at zero looks better. Patch and python HTTP server for testing downloads without Content-Length attached.

Dear Dillo developers, I just noticed a minor page rendering issue, which was introduced in revision 2368: The "I'm Feeling Lucky" button at google.com is no more visible. Sorry for posting three times I had the impression my emails got lost somehow. DOS is basically a single-tasking system. So you cannot fork a new process and threads do not work well. A thread, as it is currently implemented for DOS/DJGPP, should yield when it is done and a different thread can continue. So I try to avoid threads and use function calls instead if I can. Georg

another tooltip bug

With the attached page, I put the cursor on the first image and let the tooltip appear (and don't have the cursor too far over to the left of the window or screen). Then I move the cursor down into the second image and let go of the mouse. For a second, the tooltip for the second image shows up in the proper position, but then it moves to the right so that not all of it is visible.

TitanTV does not show the default channel listing

Just a quick note, having a pain in the arse viewing titantv.com channel listings. Seems Dillo keeps pulling an unwanted channel listing page instead of my default channel listing. I even deleted all other channel listings and restarted Dillo (and dpid, including rebooting) and I'm still getting a unwanted listing. Changed user agent too. ELinks seems to be doing similar, but I once got it to display my default channel listing without having to delete other listings. But now even ELinks is now showing the same listing that Dillo displays. Only browser that seems to work is Seamonkey (Mozilla) here.

Handling of HTML entities without terminating semicolon (bug 1043)

Currently any inline HTML entity will be converted if the whole entity name matches up to a non-alnum, even if there is no trailing semicolon. For example, foo&lt,bar would be converted, but foo&ltbar wouldn't. This means that an improperly encoded url like /foo.html?a=b&lang=en would not work, because &lang would be translated to a Left Angle Bracket. But we can't just require all HTML entites to have a terminating semicolon, because that would cause worse behavior on all the broken websites that rely on lazy entity termination. Webkit has a fairly good solution for this. Their entity list (http://trac.webkit.org/browser/trunk/Source/WebCore/html/parser/HTMLEntityN…) has defined duplicate elements without trailing semicolons for some tags only. By my count, 106/2125 tags have a duplicate zero-semicolon definition. Does anybody know how Webkit chose which tags are valid without a semicolon? Is that defined in an RFC somewhere? Another option would be to require entites to have a terminating semicolon when they're part of a tag attribute. That's assuming most pages that encode their tag attributes do it properly. For example, <a href="error.cgi?msg=Unauthorized&nbsp."> wouldn't behave as it used to.

keysrc and prefix keys

I was thinking of implementing more of Firefox's key shortcuts in Dillo, namely Alt-<n> -> "Go to nth tab" for <n> = 1, 2, 3, ... 8 and Alt-9 -> "Go to last tab". (That last one would be really useful when I have more tabs open than will fit in the tab bar.) But then I thought "how do we configure this in keysrc?". The obvious solution is to add separate entries for each of the 9 commands. But this is clearly silly because no-one wants to use, say, Alt as the prefix for going to the 4th tab but Ctrl-Shift as the prefix for going to the 5th tab. Why should users have to add 9 entries to keysrc just because they prefer Ctrl-Shift to Alt? So I think we really want a single keyssrc entry that defines the modifier keys that bind the 1, 2, 3, ... 9 keys to the "Go to tab" commands. But this would significantly complicate the current code. Is it worth it? Regards, Jeremy Henty

When I read the "Current Plans" list I thought that the Medium priority items were worked on after the High Priority items were done and overlooked the green button. Since "View page source" works in the current version of Dillo-Win32 Johannes is right and Benjamin had already rewritten that. Considering all the work Benjamin has put into his version I cannot react with <shrugs> on his decision to discontinue. I just hope he may change his mind again. Georg

The following cookiesrc file works for GMail: $HOME/.dillo/cookiesrc DEFAULT ACCEPT But this doesn't work for GMail and Google complains cookies are not enabled. $HOME/.dillo/cookiesrc DEFAULT DENY google.com ACCEPT Making this even more difficult, I found killing dpid and restart dillo was not effective, I needed to kill Xorg too to prevent loading pages from what looked like dillo was loading from cache. But after much troubleshooting for the past hour, I've determined the above scenario consistent. tooltip bug

I just noticed some odd behaviour with <img src=img title="img title" border=1 width=50 height=50><br> <a href=link title="link title">text</a> If I put the cursor over the link and then, when I expect the tooltip to pop up, move quickly up into the image, first the link's tooltip pops up for an instant -- but says "img title" -- and then the image's tooltip pops up -- but says "link title".

But imagine you're a new user and not really all that tech-savvy. Say staring at white webpage backgrounds all day makes your eyes hurt. Would you rather a) spend hours looking through a long configuration file looking for an option to somehow darken them; or b) click a button that says "Darken white backgrounds"? If you choose option a) and you're persistent -- remember you're still pretending to be a non-savvy, first-time Dillo user -- you might discover there are two separate settings for this: - allow_white_bg sets whether white backgrounds are allowed, and - bg_color takes the hexadecimal(!) code for your desired background color. (Remember as a non-savvy, first-time user, you don't know hexadecimal.) On the other hand, if you choose option b), you probably saw it here: http://dillo-win32.sourceforge.net/dillo/screenshots.php?closeup=Win95-09.p… That's much simpler, wouldn't you say? As a side note, "Allow white backgrounds" is a bad option name from a user's perspective: since most users automatically assume white backgrounds are the norm, an "Allow white backgrounds" option forces them to think in negatives. "Darken white backgrounds" is better, because it recognizes this implied norm. The word "darken" also states a clear action, unlike -- for example -- "disallow." A user should never have to stop and think, "What does 'Disallow white backgrounds' mean?" if there's a more obvious way to word it. (And yes, I know mainline darkens backgrounds by default, but it makes a convenient illustration. And yes, if you're wondering, little things like this DO make a surprisingly huge difference in usability.) Cheers, ~Benjamin

Johannes, I did not see your post when I did mine since I just get the posts once a day by email. Therefore I did not refer to your post but made a general one. I now uploaded a snapshot of Firefox displaying the "Dillo" web site on Wikipedia and three snapshots how Dillo does display it. As you can see there a great differences.
