Rename some variables (some titles were named "msg") and swap two function parameters for consistency. Titles may be NULL or empty, in which case we default to what we had before. NB: choice5 also handles a NULL msg, since msg may be read from a DPIP tag in a "dialog" DPI command and this returns NULL if the tag does not contain the key "msg". Patch: dpip-dialog_titles Make all DPIs that use the "dialog" command supply a title. (There is one instance of this in the hello DPI and many in the https DPI.) http://starurchin.org/dillo/patch/dpip-dialog_titles.html Please comment. There is nothing complicated or disruptive here - just some minor polishing of the GUI and the code base. No functionality is changed. I will push after the weekend if noone objects. Hi! At <http://flpsed.org/hgweb/dillo_hyphen/>, you'll find a version of dillo which automatically hyphenates words, using the algorith by Frank Liang (which is also used by TeX). It is still quite messy, but works already rather stable. Some manual work is neccessary (from dillo_hyphen): mkdir /usr/local/lib/dillo/hyphenation cp test/hyph-de-1996.pat /usr/local/lib/dillo/hyphenation/de.pat cp test/hyph-en-us.pat /usr/local/lib/dillo/hyphenation/en.pat For other language, the files in the CTAN should be converted. Hi, is it correct that we use a soft hyphen (0xc2 0xad) to draw the hyphen when breaking words? It seems to draw ok with fltk/X11, but wouldn't an unconditional hyphen 0xE2 0x80 0x90 be more correct? I'm asking because e.g the Apple drawing library doesn't seem to draw the soft hyphen if it thinks there should be no line break. Cheers, Johannes

PS I don't trust the "by 0x8049317: main (datauri.c:332)" line because I have -O0, and sometimes it's had some 0x40... address instead that it describes as being below main. PPS I find myself wishing that we could have the dpis back in dillo.

missing redraw?

I was looking at the source for http://omicsomics.blogspot.com/ , and there was a little bit of first-column background color visible in the second column. Switching to another tab and back shows that the first column is really a little wider than what is initially seen. This problem appears to pre-date the inclusion of hyphenation.

Handling preferences

Hi! I'm just working on making some values related to hyphenation configurable via dillorc. A long time ago (before the Fltk port), Dw directy accessed the prefs module for the value limit_text_width. When Dw was ported to Fltk (which was largely a rewrite), it was seperated, so it does not depend on prefs anymore. However, this made it necessary to pass the value of prefs.limit_text_width to dw::Textblock in the constructor. Now, I do not want to extend dw::Textblock::Textblock() by a couple of new parameters. Instead, I though of storing the values directly in Dw (initialized by feasable standard values), and the prefs parser must store them there. This way, Dw is still independent. This could be adapted in other modules. Currenty, my code is this: 1. The new values are still stored in DilloPrefs. 2. Tab closing order

Hi there, Just committed a patch that improves the workflow for those of use that make regular use of tabbed browsing. Now, upon closing the active tab, the browser focuses the previously visited one (before it was just an adjacent one). Dillo now remembers the full focus history of them. Keyboard shortcuts for (long) options menu

Hi there, I Just committed a patch for those long option menus that take a long time to scroll to the desired item. It jumps to the next menuitem whose label starts with the pressed key. If there's more than one item starting with the same letter, it goes to the next one, then wraps. This works when the OPTION menu is _focused_, not displayed. FLTK has a hacked way of handling menus which will change in FLTK3 [1] [2] (It still amazes me how some simple things can take so much guess work with FLTK). Making shortcuts work when the menu is displayed would involve copying a lot of code and dealing with hackish FLTK internals, which is not stable, and most probably not worth the effort. It seems wiser to use this workaround until FLTK3 solves the problem [2]. So far it works quite well for a page with a very long option menu I happen to use very often. Please test. How? just focus the option menu with two clicks (one popups, the next one closes it, but leaving it focused), then press the desired key (first letter of your item label), and voila. BTW, I remember corvid made a comment on this long ago, but couldn't find the post... @corvid: you may feel like adding utf8 support. I was thinking how unpleasant it is when you are highlighting text and you release the button outside the viewport, and the text doesn't get copied. (Even harder to keep in mind is when the canvas is shorter than the viewport, and you go past the bottom of the canvas.) ..and then I wanted to see whether I could make the page scroll when highlighting outside the viewport like firefox does...

I recompiled the https dpi today, and it no longer wanted to work. I had upgraded slackware in recent weeks, so my openssl version has gone from 0.9.8x to 1.0.1c, which may or may not be relevant at all. The SSL_connect() was failing. Adding in some error-printing got me "error:140770FC:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_SERVER_HELLO:unknown protocol". The search engine suggested that one possibility was that a server could be displeased with a cipher that's offered, so I changed SSL_set_cipher_list(ssl_connection, "ALL"); to "TLSv1" randomly, and it now worked. https://www.openssl.org/docs/apps/ciphers.html shows lots of possibilities, and I tried "DEFAULT". This worked as well. It sounds like the difference is that the default doesn't include aNULL ciphers. Another page says that aNULL means cipher suites that do not offer authentication. I don't really know what's going on here, obviously.

Hi all. After hyphenation feature was merged into main branch, line break doesn't seem to work well for ideographic characters. This is screenshot from 2387:81f484e70da6 (I think this is the last changeset before hyphenation). http://furaisanjin.blog.so-net.ne.jp/_images/blog/_9f7/furaisanjin/1-c9360.… But the current one (2493:f99afbd38ae7) shows something like this. http://furaisanjin.blog.so-net.ne.jp/_images/blog/_9f7/furaisanjin/2-fe1a8.… I added red box to highlight the difference. I was thinking how I sometimes see where newbies suppose that dillo can't copy and paste because they think ctrl-c must be how everything does copying...and I thought I'd find out what it would take to make that work. Some not-scrutinized code attached. There is this circuitous part where control goes from Layout to SelectionState to Layout again to Platform, which isn't too pleasing...

RequestPolicy-like patch

Patch implements functions similar to Firefox addon RequestPolicy. [1] It allows user to control automatic requests more flexible than filter_auto_requests option. Patch removes this option and replaces it with file .dillo/domainrc that looks like this: default deny wikipedia.org .wikimedia.org wikisource.org .wikimedia.org wikitionary.org .wikimedia.org wikiversity.org .wikimedia.org That way most requests are denied, but images on wikipedia are loaded from wikimedia.org without clicking on them. Patterns can start with "." to allow subdomains. Special pattern "*" can be used to allow requests to any domains from some domain (for example if it is a website full of external images) or to allow requests from any domain to some domain (maybe CDN). Without domainrc file all cross-domain requests are denied. [1] https://www.requestpolicy.com/

Doxyfile

I have removed all boilerplate from Doxyfile, now it is much shorter and there are less empty/default vairables. I was looking for some way to change layout to something simplier (no CSS-based tabs for example), but looks it is easier to just disable CSS. Cleaned up Doxyfile attached. I have enabled DOT_MULTI_TARGETS to make building faster and left TODO for Dillo logo.

Hi, I just pushed the packed trie implementation from http://flpsed.org/hgweb/dillo_hyphen_mem to the main repository. It considerably reduces the memory consumption of the hyphenator. The <lang>.pat files of the original implementation without any changes. However one can reduce memory consumption even further by precompressing the patterns using the new test/trie program: Usage: trie <pattern file> > <prefix>/lib/dillo/hyphenation/<lang>.pat.trie e.g: ./trie hyph-de-1996.pat > /usr/local/lib/dillo/hyphenation/de.pat.trie If the <lang>.pat.trie is found, dillo will use this precompressed trie instead of the <lang>.pat file. These changes should not have any effect on where the hyphenator breaks up words. If you find any regressions or changes, please report them. Cheers, Johannes

I've just merged the recent developments (including hyphenation) into the floats branch, which was originally at <http://flpsed.org/hgweb/dillo_floats/>, but is now at <http://flpsed.org/hgweb/dillo_floats_geerken>. Unfortunatey, floats do not work at all after the merge, since there were some incompatible changes for hyphenation (see comment at the beginning of calcAvailWidth). SimpleVector initAlloc parameter

Hi, I noticed that the initAlloc parameter of lout::SimpleVector() is ignored and we always start with a 1-element array (see SimpleVector::resize()). To avoid confusion I would either remove the initAlloc parameter altogether or use it and adjust the callers as appropriate. I'm fine either way, but the current solution is not good. Any opinions? Is there a reason why we don't parse entities when we get the class attr? (I was looking at how we use Html_get_attr2() in all cases for Html_parse_common_attrs(), and a_Html_get_attr() the rest of the time, and I haven't noticed anything yet in the html4 spec that makes it sound like we shouldn't parse entities for class.)

google translate and non-ascii characters

Hi, I tried to use translate.google.com with dillo and it does not work with non-ascii characters. I do not know http by heart so that I know what character set should be send in the post request but it seems not to be what google expects. Words with non-ascii characters are not translated and non-ascii characters are turned into questionmarks. Greetings Andreas Kemnade

signed integer overflow in cache.c

In function Cache_client_enqueue variable ClientKey is incremented and checked for negative values after that (in case of overflow). Even though overflow is unlikely, signed integer overflow results in wraparound on most systems and gcc don't seem to optimize away overflow check even with -O3 (it only inlines Cache_client_enqueue in my case) it is better to avoid overflow completely as there are other compilers and compiler versions.

Reordered #includes. Fixed --geometry flag. It is --geometry in man page but -geometry in usage and only -geometry is recognized by program. Simplified getCmdOption. Removed State enum, it was overkill. It is also possible to remove support for mandatory arguments (opt_argc < 0) as it is not used, but it does not add LOC so I left it there. Removed check for about:blank as start_page, it is not a special case.

Dillo working directory

In Paths::init Dillo changes working directory to /tmp. This way every time I try to open some page stored on the hard disk (Ctrl-O) I have to start in /tmp. What is the reason for changing WD to /tmp? BTW oldWorkingDir is not used anywhere.

Now (long) is used for converting (void *) to integer. This patch replaces (long) with intptr_t. I don't think this fixes the real problem. When VOIDP2INT and INT2VOIDP macros are used, it is possible that converted type won't fit into intptr_t. It is better to rewrite code that uses these macros in portable way and remove these macros. Anyway, using intptr_t is better than using (long), (long long) or introducing more autoconf dependency.

The following HTML fragment is shown as BUG<">abc by Dillo. It is valid (checked with validator.w3.org) HTML. In Firefox it is shown as abc with '>BUG<' tooltip. <div title=">BUG<">abc</div> What happens is that Dillo see < character inside quotes, shows bug "attribute lacks closing quote" and breaks out of tag parsing loop. In fact it is not possible to say if there is a bug in HTML at that point. In WWW you can see this bug on http://reddit.com. Each entry on this page contains votehash', null, event)" > and bug meter shows bugs for them. Attached patch removes logic that tries to detect unterminated quoted attributes and fixes this bug.

malloc.diff: added perror calls for malloc and realloc errors dstr.diff: dStr* functions cleanup dlist.diff: replaced recursive QuickSort with qsort from stdlib.h. Tested with file.dpi where it is used for sorting directory listing.
