Great little event in Guatemala.

Greetings We had a great time with our user group and some guests at USAC(Guatemalan public university). We had some talks with coffee and cookies until noon. Then we ate "Shucos" and carnitas(Local food) and went to a Café to chat the rest of the afternoon. We used 2011 banner and Tshirts for the event as the goodie pack just arrived today(Monday September 30 2013) but I'll save them for next year. Thank you.

Hi Everybodeee! I thought we had a great Kwartzlab Software Freedom Day and GNU 30th Anniversary celebration here in Kitchener. I also think we had around 45 people attending. I'll upload pictures and video to the SFD Kwartzlab Wiki[1] as soon as they're back from the darkroom. Laurel Russwurm took video of the presentations until the memory in the camera gave out (sorry, Joe Almeida!), as well as pictures. She's working on assembling the video fragments into reasonable wholes, and culling the best pictures out of the thousands she took. You can see some of her work in progress[2a], including the "Three Cheers For GNU" photo and video. I took some phonecam shots as well[2b], trying to use the ownCloud "Instant Upload" feature. I now know that "Upload pictures via WiFi only" means you have to connect to the WiFi to upload pictures, otherwise it's not so Instant. If anyone else took pictures or video, feel free to put them on the Wiki yourself, or you can upload them to my ownCloud "Contributions" folder[3] and I can put them on the Wiki for you. It was a great day, and I hope we do it again next year. Maybe we can even participate in Education Freedom Day[4] or Hardware Freedom Day![5] --Bob. We celebrated last Saturday at the Far Eastern University with around 700 students. We had a new breakout session this year with Open Hardware, a local research laboratory, (VISSER), brought their Arduinos and Raspberry Pis for demos. This is also the first time we had a Wikipedia editing session. We'll publish our full report soon. SFD in Lovcenac, Serbia

Hi, Software Freedom Day was celebrated in Lovcenac, Serbia. The event was held at the Local Cultural Center and lasted four hours (12:00-16:00). Visitors were able to hear basic information about the FLOSS, to see how GNU/Linux looks and to test how GNU/Linux works on old computers. Also, we shared promotional material: cd's, stickers, flyers... All computers that you will see in the images are made up of parts that are donated by individuals and institutions. Also, much of the promotional materials that were shared to visitors was donated. Thanks to everyone for their donations! We didn't had a lot of visitors and event was seemed more like an informal gathering, which was not so bad. :) We take this opportunity to say thanks to all visitors. Thank you all! Package arrived yesterday

For your records, the Washington, DC package arrived yesterday. Thanks. Especially thanks for removing dates from stuff: Since in recent years, the package has arrived after our event, it means the materials from this year can be used next year, because most of it is date-free. (This year, we used last year's package, which also was date-free.) I haven't been paying attention, and only noticed Free Education Day from the flyers sent with this year's package. So, thanks for that info too. I need to look into that further, since that's really where my interest lies: FLOSS / FLOSH in education -- schools, libraries, community centers, etc.

We’ve had some 40 or so participants at the event, which is roughly the number gathered in 2010, and (I guess) twice as much as there was in both 2011 and 2012. There was a conference, which took perhaps a bit too long to complete, and we were also showing Sintel and Big Buck Bunny. Finally, there was a semi-serious contest on the knowledge of free software, with the open-source Arduino board being the winner’s prize. PS. I hope we’ll manage to bring one or more photos of our event to Wikicommons [1] (and thus under a free license!) shortly.
