[OT] identi.ca connectivity problem
by Frederic Muller - DFF Jan. 25, 2015

Jan. 25, 2015

Hi! We have been unable to connect to identi.ca for a few weeks, we just get denied when logging in with a super clear error message saying "An error occurred." . We tried to recover the password in case that was the problem but never get any email and we couldn't find a place to report the issue neither (nor an idea of what the problem could be). So I was wondering if someone had more information which we could use to recover our account. Thanks a lot. Fred

Google Code-in starts Dec 1st
by Frederic Muller - DFF Nov. 19, 2014

Nov. 19, 2014

Dear all, We would like to let you know (just in case you've missed it) that Google is running again Google Code-in this year and the event will start on December 1st. Google Code-in is a global online contest introducing 13-17 year old pre-university students to open source software development. Over the last 4 years Google had 1575 students from 78 countries complete tasks in the contest. Google hopes to expand the program this year and would appreciate your help and that of the schools in your association to spread the word to students around the globe and motivate them to take part in it. Thanks a lot. Fred

Pictures of SFD in Kitchener-Waterloo, Canada
by Bob Jonkman Oct. 18, 2014

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi Everybody! Although it seemed attendance was a bit lower this year (too many other events in KW happening at the same time!), I thought our Software Freedom Day celebration went quite well. There were a lot of volunteers on hand: for set up, to provide directions and support to visitors, help the speakers keep on time, and clean up afterwards. Not to mention those who created, folded and distributed flyers and posters in the weeks leading up to SFD! Many thanx to everyone! We had an ambitious program this year - four simultaneous streams: Presentations, workshops, a Film Festival and an Installfest. Naturally, this made it impossible for one person to do everything. There are a few pictures of the Kitchener-Waterloo Software Freedom Day celebrations at http://sobac.com/owncloud/public.php?service=files&t=8dd9294b1bc781a0eaf5f5… If anyone else took pictures, especially of the Installfest, I'd love to see them. There's an upload link on that page if you want to make them publicly available. It's a temporary location; I'll create a more permanent picture gallery in a blog post Real Soon! - --Bob, who is really pleased with his new fashion accessory. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.15 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Ensure confidentiality, authenticity, non-repudiability iEYEARECAAYFAlQfd8IACgkQuRKJsNLM5eoOowCdEOL+rBbpZ6aKM2U0P6fvcn8l x4sAn0w3A6JVAfofGwvLn8v4Y0Q9Y2TE =0WB7 -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

SFD Competition and g3ekarmy photos
by Adrian Hernandez Torres Sept. 22, 2014

Sept. 22, 2014

Hi everyone, we're wondering in g3ekarmy how was your sfd's going? We're seeing extraordinary photos of the wordwide teams, and we like to share our photos too, there are: https://www.flickr.com/photos/g3ekarmyvg/sets/72157647838709452/ All the place was filled with people interested in foss, we has simoultaneous workshops and conferences all around the place and almost 500 people involved along the Day, was awesome, thanks for making this possible. So we're wondering what's with competition? In past years, we have to upload the pics on a gallery on the wiki, i wonder if we are going to do this for 2014, and what is going on the organization, photo, logo competitions as well. Thanks for the feedback.
