Hi Everyone! In case you don't already know, this Saturday we're celebrating Software Freedom Day one week late at the Kwartzlab Makerspace in Kitchener. We've got presentations scheduled throughout the day, there will be an installfest taking place, we'll have Q&A and discussions in the comfy lounge, and at the end of the day we're streaming the keynote speech by Richard Stallman from the GNU 30th Anniversary celebrations at MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts. SFD in Lovcenac, Serbia

Hi, Software Freedom Day was celebrated in Lovcenac, Serbia. The event was held at the Local Cultural Center and lasted four hours (12:00-16:00). Visitors were able to hear basic information about the FLOSS, to see how GNU/Linux looks and to test how GNU/Linux works on old computers. Also, we shared promotional material: cd's, stickers, flyers... All computers that you will see in the images are made up of parts that are donated by individuals and institutions. Also, much of the promotional materials that were shared to visitors was donated. Thanks to everyone for their donations! We didn't had a lot of visitors and event was seemed more like an informal gathering, which was not so bad. :) We take this opportunity to say thanks to all visitors. Thank you all! Package arrived yesterday

For your records, the Washington, DC package arrived yesterday. Thanks. Especially thanks for removing dates from stuff: Since in recent years, the package has arrived after our event, it means the materials from this year can be used next year, because most of it is date-free. (This year, we used last year's package, which also was date-free.) I haven't been paying attention, and only noticed Free Education Day from the flyers sent with this year's package. So, thanks for that info too. I need to look into that further, since that's really where my interest lies: FLOSS / FLOSH in education -- schools, libraries, community centers, etc.

We’ve had some 40 or so participants at the event, which is roughly the number gathered in 2010, and (I guess) twice as much as there was in both 2011 and 2012. There was a conference, which took perhaps a bit too long to complete, and we were also showing Sintel and Big Buck Bunny. Finally, there was a semi-serious contest on the knowledge of free software, with the open-source Arduino board being the winner’s prize. PS. I hope we’ll manage to bring one or more photos of our event to Wikicommons [1] (and thus under a free license!) shortly.
