Can you believe Software Freedom Day is only two months away? Last
year, we counted down to SFD by sharing interesting links to FOSS.
This year, let's add something new. Let's share links to blog posts
and articles on FOSS design and ideas that shape our ecosystems. If
you've written something you'd like included, please feel free to post
about it.
Here are some links I've run across recently. The first two are from
the permacomputing mailing list and the third is from someone on
Mastodon.
This blog post discusses fighting the effects of AI, distilling useful
knowledge, tools and processes. It includes links to FOSS projects
including a vim-like editor.

This blog post discusses design of Freewheeling Apps and includes
links to some FOSS projects in lua:

An article on Open payment systems:

I'll be posting more on Mastodon, Bluesky and X in the coming weeks.
If you find any of these articles interesting, I can post them here as
well. Maybe they'll give you some ideas for topics for talks at your
own SFD event.
There's still time to register your #SoftwareFreedomDay2026 event and
score some swag for doing so:

discussion about it here or join the #SoftwareFreedomDay channel on
Matrix to get advice, tips and support for creating your very own
#SFD2026 event.
