Unto SFD in Enugu
by Onyeibo Oku Aug. 14, 2014

Aug. 14, 2014

Hi everyone I'm looking to execute my first SFD event in Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Nigeria (ESUT). I have been a resource person in a similar event in 2011. I talked about my perception of Linux as a viable OS for running an architectural practice. I have also been involved in other open-source events, mostly as a Fedora Ambassador. See links[1] to [2] below. The planned event will be the first in ESUT and a sequel to the pioneer event held in University of Nigeria Enugu Campus (UNN/UNEC, 2011 -- organized by a friend who left earth a year later. [3]). I am looking to run this event a day early (19th instead) as I cannot guarantee a commendable attendance/participation on Saturday. Most of the school staff reside in town away from the campus and ESUT students like to make excuses on Saturdays. :-) The event is about a month away and I'm wondering if I might be privileged to receive some SFD goodies (T-Shirts, DVDs etc). I like some of the T-Shirt designs I see at the SFD site [4]. I need all the support I can get [5]. Re: [SFD-discuss] SFD-discuss Digest, Vol 80, Issue 15
by Adrian Hernandez Torres Aug. 14, 2014

Yes, the thing is when someone tries to reach the webpage, there are special characters that difficult the navigation a little, for example: When a user tries to reach the g3ekarmy wiki page, it writes: http://wiki.softwarefreedomday.org/2014/Mexico/Mexico%20City/g3ekarmy If you don't change the word from "g3ekarmy" to "G3ekArmy" specifically won't connect. Second problem is that they put the address without the space on "Mexico%20City" so if you don't write the address with the correct parameters you wont reach the wiki page of your team So you van use a shortened service like "bit.li" or "goo.gl" to shorten the link and be more user friendly, the "goo.gl" service also auto generate a qr code so you can put it on your posters/promotional to help people reach the wiki page of your team. -----Original Message----- From: "sfd-discuss-request(a)sf-day.org" <sfd-discuss-request(a)sf-day.org> Sent: ‎8/‎14/‎2014 7:33 AM To: "sfd-discuss(a)sf-day.org" <sfd-discuss(a)sf-day.org> Subject: SFD-discuss Digest, Vol 80, Issue 15 Send SFD-discuss mailing list submissions to sfd-discuss(a)sf-day.org To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit http://mail.sf-day.org/lists/listinfo/sfd-discuss or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to sfd-discuss-request(a)sf-day.org You can reach the person managing the list at sfd-discuss-owner(a)sf-day.org When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific than "Re: Contents of SFD-discuss digest..." Problem regarding registration for SFD 2014
by rajid benaning Aug. 7, 2014

Aug. 7, 2014

good day sir! i need a help. I was about to register in your SFD 2014, but there is a problem. everytime I put this in the wiki team page URL box:Philippines/Quezon%20City/DOMT.Cs, It is stated there that "The SFD Wiki page you supplied doesn't seem to exist. Please go back and create your page or modify the value you entered." but we already have our own wiki team page: http://wiki.softwarefreedomday.org/2014/Philippines/Quezon%20City/DOMT.Cs I hope for your considerable response, thank you very much. -Rajid

Team TWC is registered!
by Bob Jonkman Aug. 7, 2014

Aug. 7, 2014

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi SFDKW team: We're legal! I've registered us as "TWC" in Kitchener, Canada. Click on our arrow on the map at http://www.softwarefreedomday.org/map/index.php?year=2014 and you'll see a popup with a link to our wiki page. In retrospect, perhaps I should have called us "SFDKW", which works whether we're at The Working Centre or at Kwartzlab. There's not much Software Freedom Day activity in North America. I wonder why? I don't think there's any SFD swag this year. Frederic, one of the SFD organizers, will be sending a message to the sfd-discuss list to tell us what's up with that. - --Bob. - -- Bob Jonkman <bjonkman(a)sobac.com> Phone: +1-519-669-0388 SOBAC Microcomputer Services http://sobac.com/sobac/ http://bob.jonkman.ca/blogs/ http://sn.jonkman.ca/bobjonkman/ Software --- Office & Business Automation --- Consulting GnuPG Fngrprnt:04F7 742B 8F54 C40A E115 26C2 B912 89B0 D2CC E5EA -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.15 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Ensure confidentiality, authenticity, non-repudiability iEYEARECAAYFAlPjBM4ACgkQuRKJsNLM5eox9wCeI59z3P1b0zQ9e8SVidwJhXcg IOQAoPRPbzu1py8tPIK53j5dACJHUVwJ =ve9x -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
