'What is Open Source' Leaflet

I'm trying to edit Melissa Draper's excellent 'What is Open Source?' leaflet using the Scribus source files provided on the SFD wiki and on the geekosophical site (which appear to be slightly different based on md5sums). In either case, Scribus tells me that the .sla files are not in Scribus format. This is with Scribus 1.2.5 on Ubuntu Feisty. Has anyone had better luck editing these? Obviously Melissa was able to. Does anyone with more Scribus experience have any idea what I might be doing wrong? Thanks Alex Gretlein SFD - Lehigh Valley PA, USA team

SFD team supplies: shipping update

Hi Software Freedom Days teams, This email is to let you all know that all supplies have now been dispatched to teams that registered before the deadline and within the first 200 teams. This year we've been ambitious and multinational in our distribution: * T-shirts to Asian teams have been dispatched from Quezon City, Philippines (last week) * T-shirts to Australia and New Zealand have been dispatched from Sydney, Australia (yesterday) * T-shirts to teams in the Americas were sent courtesy of the Free Software Foundation in Boston, USA (two weeks ago) * T-shirts to African and European teams were dispatched from Abingdon, UK (last week) All these shipments have been via normal postage, and apparently some teams have already received their packages. We hope you like the T-shirts! Balloons and stickers are being sent from Sydney, Australia, today. In addition, CDs have been shipped via courier from the Netherlands this week. Mine were dispatched yesterday and arrived today! This weekend we will be sending out emails to all teams that registered in time to qualify for supplies, to let you know how many T-shirts and CDs you'll be receiving. I'd like to thank all teams for their patience with the various problems we've been having over the last few weeks with our shipments, website and mailing lists. And many thanks also go to John Sullivan and the rest of the team at the Free Software Foundation, who have partnered with us to ease some of our distribution problems by shipping supplies to all teams in North, South and Central America. Their contribution has been invaluable to making SFD a success this year. Happy SFDing, Robert.

Small issue with website links - fixing now

Hi all, just to keep you all in the loop, there is a small issue with the website links. We are looking into it now and hope to have it fixed today. Apologies for any issues caused. Basically you need to put the url link in twice for it to work atm. eg - http://softwarefreedomday.org/teams will go to the normal front page, but http://softwarefreedomday.org/teams/teams will work. No merchandise in the package

Hello, I today got the t-shirts from/for SFD2007 :) We are kinda happy here. What I noticed in the package is that we dont have merchandise such as balloons and whatever else was supposed to be sent. We said that we dont want CDs since we have a sponsorship of lots CDs for the celebration day, but we didn't cancel the balloons order :) So I was interested if we get balloons/other merchandise (except CDs) in separate package or is this some sort of mistake? Greetings, Over the past few days I've whipped up a pretty (well i think so ;)) little double-folded leaflet for SFD, as it was something I couldn't find already done. It explains briefly what Open Source is, and disambiguates the term 'free' (likely not necessary in languages other than english) some of the open source applications on TheOpenCD are, with the application logos in the descriptions. Package Received in Ephraim, UT, USA

For those wondering about the shirt packages, I would like to inform you that the Snow College Freedom Team in Ephraim, Utah, (United States of America) received its first SFD package. It was sent directly from the Free Software Foundation, and it included a SFD welcome note, two SFD shirts, FSF oval stickers, GNU & Tux stickers, funny "Defective by Design" stickers, three FSF newsletters, and flyers explaining the meaning of Free Software. The note mentioned that there would probably be a second package containing balloons and additional stickers, and of course we are still expecting the third package which will include the Ubuntu and TheOpenCD discs. On behalf of my team, I would like to thank SFI and this years sponsors for the wonderful promotion packs. They will help to ensure a successful and fun day for all!
