I can't believe we're only 4 days away from Software Freedom Day 2025. FLOSS question for today, what's your favorite Free, Libre, Open Source music player? I like the lightweight combo of FLTK based flrec that works with sox. Sox, the swiss army knife of sound processing utilities is a very useful program. I'm also a fan of qmmp. Feel free to get some chatter going on about Software Freedom Day on any of the social media platforms you're on. Please use #SFD2025 in your posts so others can find and boost or like them. If you want anything posted or shared about your event on the Digital Freedom Foundation social media accounts, please let me know.

We have 6 days until #SoftwareFreedomDay2025. To celebrate, let's all share some of our favorite FLOSS programs. What's your favorite FOSS graphics program? Personally, I can't pick just one. Gimp, Inkscape, Graphicsmagick and Imagemagick are great. As are DarkTable, RawTherapee, MTPaint and TuxPaint. However, some lesser known FLOSS graphics programs I like are GrafX2, LodePaint and I.mage. What FLOSS graphics programs do you use?

Spreading the word for #SFD2025

Just a quick reminder to please use hashtags #SFD2025 or #SoftwareFreedomDay2025 when sharing your Software Freedom Day posts on social media. That way, the DFF will be able to find and boost them. Also, if you have any information you want to get out, feel free to email me or contact me on the #SoftwareFreedomDay channel on Matrix. The DFF can share or like your posts on social media or share information on your events and activities on our social media accounts. I've added a blog page for all things #SFD2025: https://digitalfreedoms.org/en/sfd/blog/software-freedom-day-2025-whats-goi… Feel free to share links to your blog posts, pictures, videos or other multimedia related to Software Freedom Day and I'll add them to the page. If there are any virtual events going on that day that I find out about, I'll add them there. I'll try to update the page throughout the day on Saturday the 20th, so there will be one central place to share timely information about Software Freedom Day. Can't believe we're only 6 days away. Welcome to September. 20 days until #SFD2025. There's still time to register your team if you haven't yet or plan to host a virtual event. If you have SFD2025 graphics, videos, multimedia, etc. to share, please post the links. Check the DFF site for all the latest info on SFD2025. Similar to last year, I'll be posting information about ongoing activities and the latest news about SFD on the Digital Freedom Foundation blog on this page and will be updating the page live on Software Freedom Day: https://digitalfreedoms.org/en/sfd/blog/software-freedom-day-2025-whats-goi… Feel free to share anything you want announced or added to the page. They can be small. They can in person. They can be virtual. They can be hybrid. They don't have to be on Sept 20th. They can occur on a date that's convenient for you and the attendees. If you don't currently have an event in your area, please consider creating one. You might meet some new friends who also enjoy Free Software. If you are hosting an event in your area, please feel free to post some details about it on our mailing list. It might inspire others to create their own event or give other teams some ideas. Also, let me know if you've posted anything about it on social media. The DFF can boost your posts. The DFF can also share posts about your events on our social media accounts. You can share information about your events or event planning on the DFF blog as well. Is anyone hosting anything virtual this year? Website downtime - Software Freedom Day Updates - swag packs

Hey all, I've been hearing sounds from people already prepping for Software Freedom Day - and doing crazy stuff again. Also seeing small teams taking their first steps organizing something something cozy. Both are great! During the last 48 hours, the website has been down due to some technical issues. These are resolved. If you intended to register your event <https://digitalfreedoms.org/en/sfd/add-event> for Software Freedom Day — the site is back up now. Also, don't forget to spread the word with artists as they can win a nice Huion Tablet in our artist challenge <https://digitalfreedoms.org/en/sfd/blog/sfd-mascot-huion-challenge-2025>. Last year we had 3 entries for 3 prizes — so don't hold back. Everyone can be an artist. Did you see the great swag ideas <https://digitalfreedoms.org/en/sfd/blog/software-freedom-day-artwork-and-ex…> Chris created for this year? They all come with SVG-files so you can translate them to your local language too! Ah... and as a small sneak preview — swag is ordered this year for interested teams.
