Software Freedom Day 2024

It's hard to believe, but we're two weeks away from Software Freedom Day 2024. Find events in your local area at the Digital Freedoms web site: https://digitalfreedoms.org/en/sfd/events?view=map If there are no events in your area this year, you can celebrate virtually. Share lists of your favorite Free and Open Source software online or here on this list with other Free Software enthusiasts. Share links to some of your favorite FLOSS related videos, tutorials or web sites. If you code, write a program in honor of Software Freedom Day and share your code using a FLOSS license in honor of the occasion. Write an article or do something creative to share on Software Freedom Day. Plus, there's always next year. It's never too early or too late to start organizing an event.

Small surprise

Heya all, Two more weeks and it's happening! Software Freedom Day 2024! Thanks to an anonymous sponsor, we were able to print a small batch of stickers... the first 25 teams that registered were offered a small batch. The stickers went on the mail about 12 hours ago... Do you also want to hand out stickers? Do you want more stickers? Do you want them bigger or smaller? Do you want localized stickers? Easy! Take our design, localize it in Inkscape and hand the result to a local print shop. They look great on transparent plastic. Help us get the word out about Software Freedom Day

Are you hosting or involved in a local Software Freedom Day event? We're trying to reach people who aren't familiar with Free and Open Source software and encourage them to visit a local Software Freedom Day event. With that in mind, we're putting together some short articles on FLOSS that we hope will be of interest to the general public. If you're going to be discussing a particular aspect of FLOSS at your SFD event such as your favorite office suites or graphics editors or games, etc, let us know. We'd like to plug some of the Software Freedom Day events that will be discussing topics related to the articles. Also, if you want to put together a short article talking about topics at your event or your event or Free Software in general, feel free to send it to me and I'll see that it's added to the DFF social media pages. Software Freedom Day update

Heya all, Last year this time, we had 8 events on the map. This year, we already have 18 events! Brazil is taking a flying start with 3 events right away! Diaz Burgos from the SFD team at Bogota, Colombia. If you'd like to write about your SFD history... feel free to send me a message and we'll add it to the site. How's your preparations going? Are you trying out new things? I'm really curious, what things worked really great during previous events? System 76 is going an event in their factory, and they'll have things like a Software Freedom Bingo and a FOSS trivia quiz. Sounds like a lot of fun.
