Dear all, We've posted a blog post at http://www.softwarefreedomday.org/en/blog/139-6-years-of-sfd-maps which looks at the evolution of the numbers of SFD teams over the years. There are some important points addressed in the post and we would like to hear from you on the subject. you can either comment directly at the bottom of the article or reply on sfd-discuss list. I know you're all busy with the preparations, looking at my web counter I see I have 20h and 10min left to SFD (the counter is local now, and calculating SFD at Sept. 18th 9am). Hi everyone, Please please update wiki pages with event details and a contact person. I am going to try over the next week to get our National 24hr broadcaster ABC24 to do a story about teams all over the world. But so many registered teams on the map have NO details on their page. And there's no way of knowing what is actually happening. So Please! I beg you, put the basic details of your event on your wiki page, and an email address or phone number of a contact person. Add a link to your own page if you have one. It's a global event. We deserve global media coverage, but it's very very hard to get that if the details can't be found. Also - if you do have coverage - remember to update this year's Press page. Best SFD 2009 Event Competition Winner

Dear all, It is with great pleasure (and a bit of delay) that we're announcing the results of the Best 2009 SFD Event Competition. Many thanks to all the participants, organizers and sponsors for being here with us each year on SFD date since 2004 and making it happen. We saw some excellent examples of how to take software freedom to local communities, and we were inspired, as you all will be to see some of the outcomes and reports. Definitely a great read while you're still in the last stage of your preparations before the big day. Now to the prizes: the three outstanding teams will receive a Tux-Droid (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tux_Droid) and a trophy. The highly commended entries will receive a certificate for their excellent submissions.
