Update on schwags

Hi everyone, Answering a few questions from 2-3 persons let me explain how we're proceeding: - Canonical will be shipping the Ubuntu CDs and they needed a 60 notice to make sure CDs would arrive on time. From my experience last year it worked and I got mine 1-2 weeks before the event (if I remember correctly). That might still be tight if you're organizing SFD on the 6th. - For T-shirt, stickers, button badges, balloons all samples have been confirmed and production has started. We're planning to pack on Tuesday night and Wednesday (next week) and ship the following day (before end of July). My experience last year was that I received the T-shirts on time and the balloons/stickers 2 months after the event. This year we'll be shipping all together and your feedback on labeling has been very valuable. The courier company is telling us delivery time will be between 3 to 7 days depending on which part of the world you are located. So even doubling that should still get you the schwags early enough. For CDs we decided to localize the OpenDisc last year as no one speak English where I live. Having the budget and a plan on paper helped me to secure sponsors who helped to cover our costs and distribute a lot more CDs. We did that in 3 weeks to give a rough idea of the time needed. Hi We (NJLUG / Aalborg Denmark) are starting earlier this year (sept. 6th), because a market is going on in the city at that time (= a lot more people). Is it possible to get the T-shirts, CD's etc. in time? -- Regards Georg Sluyterman

We're getting ready to run a SFD event in Cleveland, we expect about 250 folks to attend. So we're looking for CDs. I don't mind paying for them. Hi all, When you are sending the packages specifically to developing countries like India, please make sure to mark them as something like this :- "this pack contains only promotional material that has no commercial value and no duty or tax should be charged on this" . This would make sure that there would be no duty/tax payable by the teams. We will be running it on or about Sept 20 depending upon a couple of factors (location available, presenters availability and so on). We just want to prepare everything in advance that we can. We're lining up sponsors, schwag, food, location, presenters and so on now. So we also need lots of CDs. The more professional they look the better. Hi software freedom enthusiasts, Due to a rush of late registrations, and a bit of extra schwag* that we got hold of, registration to receive supplies for Software Freedom Day has been extended until 23:59 UTC on Saturday 19 July. That means that teams that if your team is registered before that time, you'll be getting T-shirts, balloons, stickers, CDs and a few other goodies to spice up your Software Freedom Day celebration. Hi all, First of all Robert, thank you for getting back so quickly so that got resolved :) Ok, now for the goodies. From what I saw you are sending the following :- (three T-shirts, plus stickers, balloons, badges, FOSS CDs and some resource CDs) all good and all needed. What caught my eye is some resource cd's. Could you elaborate as to how many resource cd's and what they contain? Some of the options as I look are :- 1. Views and interviews of people like RMS, Eden Moglen and others who validate, and/or question free software strategies and business models so people understand not only from a moral point of view but also from a business point of view as well. Perhaps [rant] 2. Perhaps you could also add about "Open Content" and "Open Standards" and "Open Access" . This would dilute the message a bit but on the other hand, these other players are also needed, without either and all of the above 'free software' cannot win on its own. More friends are always welcome, I should say. Two recent examples of "Open Content" which I like are :- 1. "Big Buck Bunny" made by blender which could also be downloaded, but the movie itself and the production files make for 1.5 GB which people from developing nations like myself can't get to due to bandwidth limitations and stuff. 2. Hi all, I've registered almost a month or more before. I have a bunch of questions but would use a single mail to query a single question. I registered on the wiki using my name and other things which were required or was told is nice to have on the wiki. After I did that I tried to see how many others have done something similar. Almost all the people who are in Category homepage of the wiki haven't put up anything more than their e-mail addresses. It might be they have privacy concerns or something else altogether. Also was confused as to where to put the picture. A suggestion is when people are putting up their own page it should also give a link to some person (maybe from softwarefreedomday.org itself) which makes it easier for people to have something to use/build on. Alternatively, how or where should we post our contact details so people at softwarefreedomday.org know where to send the packs and perhaps interact on a regional level. Changing Group Information

Hi Everyone: I am new to this list as well as being a new leader involved with organising a SFD event in the Southern Fleurieu Peninsula which will be held in the town of Victor Harbor, which is approximately 1.5hrs south of Adelaide South Australia. Now my question.. I've only just a few moments ago registered my team on the SFD website, but if I want to change some details how do I go about this as it didn't give me login details to go back and make changes. The main changes that will be needed will be completed by this upcoming Tuesday, and the changes that will need to be confirmed will be how many leaders / organisers that our group will finally end up having, at this stage I've set this to 12. The next part of my changes will be the number of shirts that we will require and sizes, at this point in time I've only put the information in that I currently have in hand, more will be coming my way before this upcoming Tuesday.
