They can be small. They can in person. They can be virtual. They can be hybrid. They don't have to be on Sept 20th. They can occur on a date that's convenient for you and the attendees. If you don't currently have an event in your area, please consider creating one. You might meet some new friends who also enjoy Free Software. If you are hosting an event in your area, please feel free to post some details about it on our mailing list. It might inspire others to create their own event or give other teams some ideas. Also, let me know if you've posted anything about it on social media. The DFF can boost your posts. The DFF can also share posts about your events on our social media accounts. You can share information about your events or event planning on the DFF blog as well. Is anyone hosting anything virtual this year? If so, we'd like to try to highlight it for people who may not have an event in their area but would still like to participate in some way. Hope you all have a wonderful Software Freedom Day 2025.

Website downtime - Software Freedom Day Updates - swag packs

Hey all, I've been hearing sounds from people already prepping for Software Freedom Day - and doing crazy stuff again. Also seeing small teams taking their first steps organizing something something cozy. Both are great! During the last 48 hours, the website has been down due to some technical issues. These are resolved. If you intended to register your event <https://digitalfreedoms.org/en/sfd/add-event> for Software Freedom Day — the site is back up now. Also, don't forget to spread the word with artists as they can win a nice Huion Tablet in our artist challenge <https://digitalfreedoms.org/en/sfd/blog/sfd-mascot-huion-challenge-2025>. Last year we had 3 entries for 3 prizes — so don't hold back. Everyone can be an artist. Did you see the great swag ideas <https://digitalfreedoms.org/en/sfd/blog/software-freedom-day-artwork-and-ex…> Chris created for this year? They all come with SVG-files so you can translate them to your local language too! Ah... and as a small sneak preview — swag is ordered this year for interested teams. The first 25 teams who register their event, can apply for free swag <digitalfreedoms.org/en/sfd/blog/order-swag> (or volunteer chip in a bit too). Hurry up, 15 events are registered already!
