Software Freedom Day (#SFD2025) returns on Saturday, the 20th of
September, 2025. As always, it's the third Saturday of September. It’s
the perfect occasion to spotlight Free, Libre and Open Source Software
in your community whether through a workshop, hackathon, installfest
or celebration.
Why act now?
The earlier you act, the more impact you have.
Lock in the date
Add a recurring reminder for every third Saturday of September, so
your team never misses SFD again. If the exact date doesn't work for
you, pick something in the days (or weeks) leading up to or after the
official date. Compare SFD to a birthday party: it doesn't
necessarily need to be celebrated on the exact date.
