Melbourne, Australia report

Over fifty people attended Software Freedom Day in Melbourne, Australia which ran from 9.30 to 17.00 at 110 Grey Street East Melbourne (Melbourne Unitarian Church hall). The event was jointly organised by Linux Users of Victoria and Free Software Melbourne with the theme of the day was "Free Software for a Free Society". There was six main speakers on the day, covering issues such a content creation with free software, free and open source software in public decision making, privacy issues, the One Laptop per Child project, the organisation of free software communities. In addition to the speakers we had installations of Linux, plenty of t-shirts, software and other paraphernalia giveaways, videos and a free lunch. Great little event in Guatemala.

Greetings We had a great time with our user group and some guests at USAC(Guatemalan public university). We had some talks with coffee and cookies until noon. Then we ate "Shucos" and carnitas(Local food) and went to a Café to chat the rest of the afternoon. We used 2011 banner and Tshirts for the event as the goodie pack just arrived today(Monday September 30 2013) but I'll save them for next year. Thank you.

Hi Everybodeee! I thought we had a great Kwartzlab Software Freedom Day and GNU 30th Anniversary celebration here in Kitchener. I also think we had around 45 people attending. I'll upload pictures and video to the SFD Kwartzlab Wiki[1] as soon as they're back from the darkroom. Laurel Russwurm took video of the presentations until the memory in the camera gave out (sorry, Joe Almeida!), as well as pictures. She's working on assembling the video fragments into reasonable wholes, and culling the best pictures out of the thousands she took. You can see some of her work in progress[2a], including the "Three Cheers For GNU" photo and video. I took some phonecam shots as well[2b], trying to use the ownCloud "Instant Upload" feature. I now know that "Upload pictures via WiFi only" means you have to connect to the WiFi to upload pictures, otherwise it's not so Instant. If anyone else took pictures or video, feel free to put them on the Wiki yourself, or you can upload them to my ownCloud "Contributions" folder[3] and I can put them on the Wiki for you. It was a great day, and I hope we do it again next year. Maybe we can even participate in Education Freedom Day[4] or Hardware Freedom Day![5] --Bob. We've got a feed for TasLUG news posts, but it's mostly just meeting announcements. SFD Philippines 2013

We celebrated last Saturday at the Far Eastern University with around 700 students. We had a new breakout session this year with Open Hardware, a local research laboratory, (VISSER), brought their Arduinos and Raspberry Pis for demos. This is also the first time we had a Wikipedia editing session. We'll publish our full report soon. TTCS OSSWIN DVD v1.0, collection of FOSS for Windows available for download

Dear All, Just to let you know that the TTCS OSSWIN DVD v1.0, a collection of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) for Windows put together by the Trinidad and Tobago Computer Society is available for download at http://www.ttcsweb.org/osswin-dvd/ This compilation of nearly 100 FOSS for Windows (XP and higher) has detailed information about each program: what the program does, its key features, useful related websites, view a screenshot, find links to the program's website and to download/install the program from the TTCS OSSWIN DVD from the web browser. The changes to this version adds three new programs, and adds 64 bit versions of programs where available for installation and latest software version updates as of September 21 2013.
