CFD help and tips

Dear all, Another CFD thread on the SFD mailing list, though the purpose is to gather feedback and seek help. While we're getting a rather positive feedback from organization like Creative Commons, the OpenClipart and OpenFont Library and everybody else in general, the number of teams involved in organizing an event is still pretty low. My feeling is that people don't know about CFD yet, and therefore I'd be happy if computer science students (for example) subscribed to this list - we usually have quite a few involved in SFD - could inform their counterparts in the art section of their universities. Similarly I'd be very interested to get feedback on how you think we could boost participation. I know it's the first year and the concept is not clear for everyone. Still I'd be happy to make a few extra efforts if it can help to encourage people to participate. Thanks and hopefully I'll be reading a lot of good advice soon. :) Fred

We have decided to use a forum for CFD as we believe the crowd will be less technical and more into nice graphical interfaces, easy to navigate and search, but if there is really a need for one we could create a cfd(a)sf-day.org (adding a new domain is rather troublesome and I would really prefer not to). Hi! Thanks a lot for the tip. I was slightly battling with the registration application and wanted it people to be able to register before pinging them. So as the registration just went live I will start following up on spreading the word of CFD. Note that we already have a in-house list of several organization we need to contact. This is something that we will share on the CFD wiki and hopefully people will be able to ping similar organization in their own countries. We also have a countdown almost ready, which should be activated tomorrow I believe. so thank you and happy CFD! Dear Edgar, The logo will remain unchanged so will the website (despite the obvious required upgrade to J!2.5).
