Competition 2009 is ON!

Dear Team Leaders, With a bit of delay we have just open the Best SFD Event competition for 2009! Please visit http://www.softwarefreedomday.org/Competition2009 for the condition and report your event as soon as possible. You have until December 31, 2009 but don't wait for the last minute. We're still looking for prizes (and I'm sure we'll find something cool this year), but no matter what the awards will be given, and it's always nice for your team to know you performed so well. Software Freedom International: taking on 2010!

Hi SFDers, The SFI annual meeting took place today, at which I stepped down as President and a new board was elected. Congratulations to the following people who will be taking charge of SFD in 2010: * Terri Molini * Pockey Lam * Alexjan Carraturo * Silvia Aimasso * Quiliro Ordóñez * Jan Husar* * JM Bitanga* * Frederic Muller* * Matt Oquist* (* denotes those who were re-elected to the board) Fred Muller was chosen to be the next President of SFI - congratulations to him and to all the other board members. I wish them luck in taking SFD to ever greater heights! I'd like to thank all those of you who've worked on events around the world to take software freedom to the masses; it's been very rewarding to represent SFD and make this fantastic global event happen every year. Please do give the new board your support, and if you'd like to see them do something differently - contact them and let them know! SFD Annual Meeting: 1 December, 1200UTC on IRC

Hi SFDers, How would you like to have a say in the running of Software Freedom Day? Software Freedom International is holding its annual meeting on Tuesday 1 December at 12.00 UTC (that's 20.00 in Beijing and 07.00 in New York). We'll be electing a new board, as well as discussing plans for the future - and we're always open to contributions from members of the community who'd like to help out making things happen! The meeting will be happening on IRC (channel #sfd-meeting on irc.freenode.net) The names of people who've previously indicated they'd like to attend, and those who are interested in being on the board, are shown at the bottom of this email. Let me know if you'd like your name added. PARTCIPATING IN THE MEETING

Dear Robert, My name is Misheck Mutuzana, i have been working with colleagues on the Copperbelt province in Zambia to give awareness to schools, community about open source software. I have done several workshops in open source software (Ubuntu version - Open office writer, open office calc, open office impress etc). I also particpated in the recent Software Freedom Day were we met with teachers from different schools. We distributed ubuntu software to schools on the coperbelt.
