Press clipping for 2011

Dear all, While we're getting we traffic over the roof this year I am noticing that the press clipping page has not been updated at all this year. So if your team or SFD has been featured in the press in your country can you kindly go to http://wiki.softwarefreedomday.org/press and update the 2011 like we did in previous years? Those links go to our www website at the end of the year and shows how SFD teams as a community manage to raise awareness in the media. Thanks a lot. Fred

Yes MAC OS FOSS disc is available to SFD team by filling out this form: http://www.appleusers.org/dotm/spotlight-on-foss-dvd/ and the torrent direct access is: http://tracker.appleusers.org/Spotlight%20on%20FOSS.torrent The reason for having a form, I quote "The main reason we have the form so we know which groups are distributing it and thus we can list them on our website... also we find out just how many groups where actually interested in the DVD and thus letting us know if the effort in producing the DVD was worth the effort (which based on feedback so far, it was and so we'll look at doing it again next year )" We should make a front page change today or tomorrow to announce it and also publish on sfd-discuss. All, The page http://www.navratil.cz/SFD2011/ with torrent file has been updated with sizes in bytes and GBs + countdowns. I'm still doing research about using more torrents for same data (as per request to create separated torrent file per each ISO). My understanding is, that for our purpose, one torrent file for three DVDs is proper way (users can choose, which ISOs will be downloaded) The risk I see is, that when accessing same ISO files from more torrents can bring conflicts. I will come back on this. Exist MacFOSS disc? I can create a new torrent for this one. I found most of this reasons useless. Forums is a well stablish technology as well as proven. Sites like sourceforge use forums as well as many million of users are used to it. Big projects like Audacity, OpenOffice.org and others use forums intensively. Althought I have to agree that it pulverize the communication, many users preffer forums specially for that reason. Forums are also easier to browse and dont force the users to read every single message. Forums are specially important because they provide a better presence on valuable posts. having them move up by popularity or sticky notes. Centralization of information is also imposible, imagine saying to the users, don't blog anymore because it generates conversations under your post which are unreachable from my mailing list and duplicate the communication channels.... I doubt you will get much uptake. Now multiply this on other channels, like youtube, twitter/identica and any other publishing environments. I am sure there are valuable comments on the SFD wall in facebook that this list will never see. That doesnt male the facebook presence a bad thing. The advantages of familiarity well outscore the annoyances. New countdown language: Czech!

Yeah! A silent individual who goes under the wiki name of eischmann has translated the countdown into Czech. I just added the language into the script and it will be available within 10 minutes.
