Hi Thilo, Danke! Thanks for that quick response. I've already seen that list of fonts you mentioned and the only problem was that weren't too many options for modern looking sans serif logo fonts among the font examples from that list. @All: Please disregard the earlier list of fonts that I mentioned. It seems that it would take time sort out our way through more than a thousand fonts listed there. Moreover, I've just found out that not all fonts there are free (as in speech) and open licensed -- others are just freeware that are just freely redistributable. As an alternative, perhaps it would be better for us to look at the font collection listed at the Open Font Library <http://openfontlibrary.org/>website. Prior to posting my first output on my SFD '09 logo experiments, as a gauge to whether I'm ready to post that or not, I asked my sister which between the two logos look better: SFD '08 or '09? Her answer was '09 because it's more eye-catching and that motivated to post this now. It would also be a good idea to renew even if tis would not be a problem. Help needed: Artwork for SFD '09 team starter pack (schwag); Do we need to change the SFD logo font?

Hi all, Good day! We at SFI would like to seek the assistance of the whole SFD community on coming up with the final artwork that we could use for the goodies to be distributed for SFD '09 and beyond. According to the initial feedback that Fred got from here (SFD-discuss mailing-list), most teams would want T-shirts, CDs/DVDs (FOSS compilations and a resource DVD), generic SFD (A2-sized) posters, balloons, stickers, and button pins/badges. Before we move on to the specifics about what Artwork we would like to have for each of those stuff, I, in behalf of SFI would like to consult with all of you first if there's a need for us to change the font that we have been using for the SFD logo since 2005. As some/most of you might be aware of, the current logo font (Libel suit) that we are using is just a free (as in beer) font and not a free (as in speech) or open font. On a side note, if I'm not mistaken, the SFD logo that we've used in the first worldwide SFD celebration back in 2004 as depicted in this archived image file<http://web.archive.org/web/20040801002506/www.softwarefreedomday.org/layout…>, uses the Sans font from the GNU FreeFont<http://www.gnu.org/software/freefont/>collection. Back to my main query about the SFD logo font, should we decide to change the logo font (I do hope that we should), perhaps the listing from the Free Font Compilation made from the Debian GNU/Linux distribution<http://fonts.debian.net/>would provide a good kick start for this purpose. We still have until the end of the month to decide on this. We would like to get as many feedback or sample logo works as possible from all/most of you before then. Thanks! JM Software Freedom Day

linux and youth day in cameroon

The Linux school in Limbe join the rest of the youth of cameroon to celebrate the national youth day on the 11th of February 2009.Many people where impress as they saw us machine with white t-shirt and on it was written ubuntu, so they ask the meaning of ubuntu, why we are machine for Linux and not windows, we actually answer so many question this day befor the matching began. We had so many people coming in to the school the following day to learn Linux, some caming in with labtops to install Linux. This people explain to us that they have been having many problems with windows and that they did not know there exit other operating system other than windows now they prefer Linux, since we have explain to them the advantage of linux over windows operating system. Those of them who have known linux where very happy to join us and work with us because according to them they have acquired knowledge about open source but could not fine people with whom they could work together. you can see more on our website sokolo.cronopios.org
