Can you give a slightly more concrete description of what it is you're trying to do? p.

Perhaps a temporary setlocale() may work. (Currently , neither localeconv, nor nl_langinfo works at all, perhaps I miss some files.) Anyway thanks for the answer. Sebastian

Eric, > Hi, > > the following link has been posted on /. today. It contains very interesting > information about browsers usability. Interestingly enough, one of the > proposals to improve user experience was proposed by Jorge last year > (temporal history). Interesting reading! BTW, the implementation is half done in dillo. We only need to figure out how to make gtk display it as we want! That is, a popup menu that can scroll and that highlights (with other color) the current page in the histoy. That is: .-------------. | page n | | page n+1 | | page n+1 | <- Mouse-highlighted option | page n+2 | ... | page n+k | <- Highlighted with a different color | page n+k+1 | (as it marks the position of current page in | page n+k+2 | the linear history) | page n+k+3 | '-------------' The tricky part is that making these popups scroll is done in dillo with some hackish bindings. And we also need to make the popup display the current position in the middle of the menu when it pops. It'd be very good if someone solves this problem! > > http://www.cosc.canterbury.ac.nz/~andy/web_navigation.html > > Worthy readings. After reading it, I thought of a nice way to improve it even more! All we need is to convince GTK+ to perform in the above described way. Cheers Jorge.- PS: Sometime ago someone suggested binding the escape key to close dillo's dialogs. I didn't thought it was much an improvement, but time changed my mind, and made a patch! :)

Happy new year!

by Jorge Arellano Cid

Hi there! Is good to see you here in our new home. Things seem to be going better for dillo this year (yes, a couple of days can bear a lot of things!). The project is resuming its pace and hopefully will improve. Receive my best wishes for this year! Jorge.-

From the manpage: nl_langinfo - query language and locale information CODESET (LC_CTYPE) Return a string with the name of the character encoding used in the selected locale, such as "UTF-8", "ISO-8859-1", or "ANSI_X3.4-1968" (better known as US-ASCII). This is the same string that you get with "locale charmap". For a list of character encoding names, try "locale -m", cf. locale(1). Fred

SGML question

by Sebastian Geerken

Hi! Before I start digging to the specs, someone may answer me this question faster: Should stripping spaces from attributes done before or after the conversions of entities? E.g., if I have something like <td align="char" char=" "> is the value of the "char" attribute " " (one space) or "" (empty)? Dillo does the second, so it is not possible to align characters at spaces. BTW, does someone know a good and simple way to retrieve informations about other the user has specified via $LC_...? I need this for the standard value of the "char" attribute, which depends on the language of the document (or a content part). Sebastian

Apology accepted, but at least you could have read the "README" file (section *BSD). If gmake doesn't solve it, please feel free to write to the list though! Cheers Jorge.-

Your issue here is that you need to use "gmake", not make. After that, everything should compile cleanly. If you have any more problems, feel free to mail - Dillo is a joy to compile, it generally always does so cleanly, but I've never built it on a 2.8 system and there may be some gotchas. -Sunny Raspet

make errors won't compile

by robertg＠nyc.rr.com

Greetings all, I am new to Dillo. I just heard about it on the openbsd.org site and it sounded like just what i'm looking for. I am having a problem with 'Make' however, i was hoping someone might be able to give some useful insight. This is a base openbsd 2.8 install, (trying it on this machine first), with nothing unusual and a GENERIC kernel. `Make check' dies with the following: #sudo make check Making check in doc Making check in src "Makefile", line 307: Need an operator Fatal errors encountered -- cannot continue *** Error code 1 Stop in /home/${user}/dillo-0.6.6 (line 161 of Makefile). I am including my `sh ./configure', which appeared ok. I realize this is a long file and post and i apologize for any unnessary bandwidth that is eatin' up by my post. -mUs cmustard(a)nyc.rr.com This file contains any messages produced by compilers while running configure, to aid debugging if configure makes a mistake. bug tracking engine

Hi! I took a look at the bug entries, and comment some of them. If not otherwise stated, I'm using the current CVS version of dillo. > [area.gif] 209 > Impact: soft error > At: run time > Type: misbehaviour > Comments: ALT image tag balloons sometimes stay present when the > balloon's window becomes inactive by consecutively opening several > new dillo windows with middle mouse button. Since this entry was made, there have been some changes related to tooltips (Dw crossing events, to be precise). It may be that this bug has been fixed in the meanwhile. If not, please report so. > [area.gif] 275 > Impact: hard error > At: run time > Type: lock > Comments: Dillo locks, with high CPU usage, at > http://www.adequacy.org/?op=displaystory;sid=2001/12/2/42056/2147 > HTReproduce: Go to > http://www.adequacy.org/?op=displaystory;sid=2001/12/2/42056/2147. > Watch the CPU-meter spike and Dillo stop responding. > WorkedBy: nobody This side has changed its contents, but it may be that performance problems with large tables caused this bug. It became better some time ago, but may be enhanced furthermore, however, with the costs of more complexity (with another column width calculation, "incremential resizing" may also be applied to DwTable). So I won't do much on this, unless there are severe performance/locking problems. > [area.gif] 355 > Impact: soft error > At: run time > Type: render bug > Comments: When rendering tables (in column oriented pages), right > column starts on the right and below left column. > HTReproduce: Visit http://www.howstuffworks.com/air-force-one.htm > WorkedBy: nobody This page is written by someone assuming that <TABLE ALIGN=LEFT> makes the table floating, instead to be aligned left (HTML 4.01 spec, section 11.2.1). Anyway, this is a common behavior of browsers, but since there is currently no code for handling floats, this is not relevant yet. > [area.gif] 374 > Impact: soft error > At: run time > Type: render bug > Comments: weird rendering with lots of overlapping text. The only thing I've noticed is that some colors are different than in mozilla, I assume that this is due to mixing HTML attributes and CSS. Happy New Year! Sebastian
