Icons poll

by Jorge Arellano Cid

Hi there, I've been using John Grantham's icons for a while, and wonder whether to make them the default. So this poll is open! (but closed to dillo-dev) Cheers Jorge.-

Well, that is for Latin1. > Is there any > reason to leave table without representations in place and add > a new one _with_ them which differs only in representations field and > (possible) bigger number of entities ? Maybe not, but I didn't suggest _that_ table. I thought that although implicit it was clear, but it seems that character handling code is always harder than it seems! The main reason for separating the tables was to make clear what was the workaround and what the code to be used with UCS in the future. The other is that the second table can be ordered by isocode and thus allow for a bin search instead of the slow linear search the patch uses. While reviewing it in more depth, I found a bug in dillo's code (fixed in CVS), and made a small UCS to latin converter that help in very weird pages like: http://www.michigan.gov/minewswire/ 0,1607,7-136-3452_3518-51568--M_2002_9,00.html (all in one line) Finally, I can't see (yet) how having this entitites character representation helps when using another character set (as with the russian encoding workaround), unless you first convert the regular HTML character encoding into the current locale! Certainly a hairy problem, and one of the main reasons for GTK+2 design decision of using UCS instead of the current locale as its internal representation. > In future (GTK2 internals) all representations definition and use could > be cut from source code and I don't see any problem or pain with it, > corresponding changes will be not so big. > > IMHO all progress we can do now is entering more entities in table. > > In any case I interested in further progress in this way. > > P.S. Entities you mention cannot be translated from UCS2 (encoding used > in HTML numeric entities) to UTF-8. Lynx/links do not show that also. I meant UCS to Latin1 (see the patch in CVS). Cheers Jorge.-

Hi Jorge, I poked around usenet and was told that I'd have to get X running on the Zaurus, and then GTK, and that it is difficult to get GTK on the Z, and that it would be better to move Dillo to use Qtopia. All of which is beyond my current capability! Thanks, Todd

ACK, a ./configure option to keep this code out of the binary would be nice, too. Re: [Dillo-dev] Dillo & Sylpheed-Claws: finally!

Great! This is very good for both projects. Stefan, > Hi! Hi. > First of all: Thanks! Thanks for giving me Dillo! You're welcome. > I've got two questions: > > 1. In the dpi text a hello_world plugin is mentioned. Where can I find it? Hold on a bit, we're working with Ferdi on a new plugin manager that will ease a lot the making of new plugins. (if you can't hold your breath, drop me a note and I'll send it to you). > 2. I'd like to see some things in future releases. Where can I post suggestions? You said 'dont brainstorm to the mailing list'. First, think a lot of suggestions before posting them. That's the idea. We have little manpower and a lot to do, so we focus on the most important issues only. > What I'd like to see: Incremental full text search like in the latest Mozilla version. Just typing in the main window starts a search over the whole displayed Page. Cheers Jorge.-

No, we haven't implemented animated GIFS. I think gtk's timeout functions are a good choice for triggering the frame display change. I'd start there. Note that some of us are *very* happy without animated gifs, so a dillorc option to disable animation is a must! Cheers Jorge.-

XFT Patch

by Nicola Girardi

I updated my patch (which was derived from another patch I don't remember from who) for current CVS, and added an autoconf check to add the necessary compiler and linker flags automatically. I hope it's useful for someone, and I hope that it actually creeps in. Such a small effort for such a nice feature. :-) Attached (it's small)!

<form> parsing

by Russell Nelson

If you visit http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest_cache.asp?zip=13676&dist=100&submit1…, you'll find that the download form is missing. Under [details] there should be a checkbox and the label "download". There should be a submit image before the line that says "Travel Bug". This is present in 0.7.2. Interestingly, if I save the HTML from inside Galeon, and load it in Dillo, the form is present. -- --My blog is at angry-economist.russnelson.com | "I have officially heard Crynwr sells support for free software | PGPok | every excuse for being 521 Pleasant Valley Rd. | +1 315 268 1925 voice | assigned a single room at Potsdam, NY 13676-3213 | +1 315 268 9201 FAX | FGC." --Liz Perch
