[Dillo-dev][OT] Fonts in Ted wordprocessor

This is off-topic, but it may interest someone on the Dillo-dev list. I am using the "Ted" wordprocessor in my tiny Puppy Linux distro, and I notice that Damn Small Linux has also gone over to Ted. We are both using the GTK version. Mark de Does, the author, wrote it for Motif, and someone helped him to get it to work on GTK 1.2, and we use the GTK version on Puppy and DSL. That person who originally helped him has moved on, and the GTK interface is left somewhat immature. I don't want to poach anyone off the Dillo development, as I want Dillo to go full steam ahead, but if anyone reading this has an interest in helping Mark as an additional temporary project, you can find his web page at www.nllgg.nl/Ted and his email is mdedoes(a)xs4all.nl Ted is philosophically like Dillo, small and powerful. Ted works on RTF as its native format and can export to html, ps and pdf. Ted is also WYSIWYG. Note that the html generated uses a lot of CSS, to get the layout right. Mostly what is wrong is that the GTK dialog boxes are enormous, and font selection is disfunctional (plus more things). I upgraded to the latest, v2.16, but I get a gdk error message when change fonts, had to go back to v2.14. Dillo handles fonts very smoothly (hats off to you guys on that one) and some of that would be very good in Ted. So, thought I would post this, in case it interests anyone. [Dillo-dev]Preparing the 0.8.1 release

Hi guys, 0.8.1 is getting closer every day. It will feature what's currently in the CVS (basically the improved HTML bug detection and rendering). I'd love to be able to switch this dillo version from alpha to beta stable, but for that there's a lot of testing required. That is, the new parser (going to lots of sites and asserting there're no crashes), and the recently found problems with puppy linux and downloading and FTP (has anyone experienced trouble with these dillo plugins on their systems?). Please test our current CVS hardly, and tell us how it did. Thanks to Jim, who was the first one to send some feesback: > Wow! Why not *, $, etc... :-) You have another option: click on help in the splash screen after dillo launch. BTW, it took me some time because it required several changes: - indentation was not according to our standard. - the authentication string was in different places for GET and POST (now is between Host and User-Agent in both). - there was a memory leak in a_Http_use_proxy_passwd(). - renamed a_Http_use_proxy_passwd() to a_Http_set_proxy_passwd(). - Made the password not visible when typed. - Added a commented entry for "http_proxyuser" in dillorc. Most probably this depends on what font sets Fink is providing for the X server. i.e. you should forward the question to them. BTW, did you post BUG#519? or can you reproduce it? and BUG#526? This greatly reduces it's strength... my students are using dillo almost everyday now in a web dev class.. Hi there, These days have brought several good surprises with regard to HTML and good webmasters. For instace, from the sites that appear in our splash screen: The Register: switched to XML! (no BUGS) Slashdot : they're fixing the HTML (some old detected bugs don't show anymore) Monster news: In the process of fixing. Dillo's site: Fixed! (Yes, the new parser catched hidden bugs) also, sourceforge.net and newsforge.com look better with the new parser (not a merit of the sites, but a good new anyway).
