cvs not compiling ?

I'm having trouble compiling from CVS. After I get all the files updated, I do a ./configure, and after that a make. Dillo 0.7.0 idintifies itself as 0.6.6

Firstly: thank you guys for what you did! I have just discovered dillo yesterday and it's my browser of choice since then. So fast! Now, I have applied Grigoriy's patches to d070pre-v1.tgz and it works great, except it seems this dillo 0.7.0pre1 identifies itself as "dillo/0.6.6" in my apache logs. Jan PS: What's the fuzz with the homepage. Both sourceforge and freshmeat have 0.6.x as it's last release, ????.br is dead, and wearlab.de, which seems to be the current homepage, doesn't provide the 0.7.0 tarball - I only downloaded it from Grigoriy's page ...

Web pages - compatibility

Hi, Since I'm not quite sure who is maintainig the web pages I send it here : The Compatibility page should list the BSD's as follows  <LI> NetBSD (in pkgsrc) <li> FreeBSD (in the ports) <li> OpenBSD (in the ports)  I.e. OpenBSD certainly is not restricted to Version 2.9. Also the phrases in the parantheses mean something to BSD users :-) (essentially that dillo is part of the OS in a broader sense). Dillo cross compilation for ipaq

I am cross compiling Dillo for an ipaq (after i applied a patch on it) i keep having a problem with the jpeg library. Even if you supply your configure script via CVS, when running cvs update sometimes one needs (happened to me for example ;-)) to run the autotools to update the configure script and the Makefiles. And the next time you run CVS update you have the annoying messages of files being modified (M configure M Makefile.in etc.). In any case, I think it's good policy to exclude from CVS all files that can be generated automatically from other files in the same module. My 2 (euro)cents.

Table cell alignments

Hi! Just FYI: I'll stop working on table cell alignments (features, of course, I'll fix bugs, and implement important things I've forgotten). I've just committed changes which (imperfectly) support ALIGN=CHAR and the CHAR attribute. CHAROFF (which seems rather exotic to me, and is anyway not required, as the HTML spec says), is not supported, and I do not plan to do it. Someone interested in this should understand the "99% done" in the bug track as an encouragement to replace my name and fill the remaining1%. :-) Sebastian

BTW, a long time ago Eric made a patch that made just that but that presented an inactive menu entry when the link wasn't an image... The point (to be consistent with the rest of the interface) is to make the image-menu popup when righ-clicking over an image. If you can do that, great! Hi! Before I start digging to the specs, someone may answer me this question faster: Should stripping spaces from attributes done before or after the conversions of entities? E.g., if I have something like <td align="char" char=" "> is the value of the "char" attribute " " (one space) or "" (empty)? Dillo does the second, so it is not possible to align characters at spaces. BTW, does someone know a good and simple way to retrieve informations about other the user has specified via $LC_...? I need this for the standard value of the "char" attribute, which depends on the language of the document (or a content part). Sebastian

Your issue here is that you need to use "gmake", not make. After that, everything should compile cleanly. If you have any more problems, feel free to mail - Dillo is a joy to compile, it generally always does so cleanly, but I've never built it on a 2.8 system and there may be some gotchas. -Sunny Raspet

After realising that autoconf > 2.13 was required, I also realised that on my mandrake both are actually installed, with a script linked to /usr/bin/autoconf . The trick with this script was to export the environment needed to use the higher version, and on my mandrake the trick was to first "export WANT_AUTOCONF_2_5=1" .. then the rest.
