Hi List, First of all. This is a very interessting and good projekt. Thanks to all the developers. Second: henrik.baastrup(a)eds.com wrote some code for 0.6.6 to enable dillo for doing proxy auth. Today I grabbed the 0.7.1 Version and build it. Sadly I realized that I had to patch it myself again. Now that it's working again is someone of the development team interessed in adding the code to the cvs?! Great work!

Very thanks for dillo. It is a very good work and the only graphic browser realy usable in my pentium 150 with 16 MB ram. I have downloaded the cvs version after test the 0.6.4 in debian woody and actually i am reading the code. One idea to support various PIs can be this: To have a script file in user home with the list of available PI that can be exec when dillo load(how secure is this? i think it is fine with the right permisions) or with a few delay after dillo load. The PIs can be comented or uncomented by an cfg app. When the PIs are exec without parameters they tell its data (prefix or sufix, set menus, etc like specs sugest) to dillo by a registration socket and exits. If an PI says it is a run-all-the-time-PI(server) dillo can exec it later or else be runed only when it is need. Example: ~/.dillo/PIlist have #/bin/sh # name="bookmarksr PI" dillo_bm_serv_1_0 # name="bookmarksr PI" #dillo_bm_serv_0_9 # name="bookmarks PI" dillo_downloads_1_0 # name="external https PI" #dillo_https_0_2 when dillo starts it execs "~/.dillo/PIlist" then dillo_bm_serv_1_0 is exec send data and exits, next dillo_downloads_1_0 is exec send data ... OpenBSD-3.3 and -current and G_DNS_THREADED

Hello, I was using dillo from the OpenBSD ports before, but at the urging of a friend I've tried out the CVS version. Since dillo has threaded DNS queries by default OpenBSD would load the first page and then generally fail to load anything after that (images from other sites on that page, new pages, etc.). The problem lies in the fact that the gethost* calls on OpenBSD-3.3 and -current are not thread safe. Even though threads support has been greatly improved, threaded dns queries are still out (unless you do locking with mutexs, but you already have another framework for dealing with this issue). Attached is a small patch that makes dillo-cvs work on OpenBSD-3.3 and -current. Fix for bug 330 ("URL box should get input focus")

[PATCH] Better-looking and -behaving message window

Hello, Rather than give it in diff -pru form, here is a new a_Interface_message_window function. I am giving it to you like this because it's easier for me (and probably you) -- my interface.c is extremely hacked right now. This function resembles the old one but is re-organized, has more comments, and produces a prettier message window. The OK button stays the same size no matter how big the window is, which I think is important. To see this message window in action, apply the patch to cache.c, below. Rather than have cache.c set the status bar label, I pop up a message window. I think users might not notice the status bar, and wonder why Dillo didn't respond when they tried to visit (e.g.) an FTP URL. Like all of what I've sent so far, these modifications affect the overall "polish" of Dillo -- its appearance and the organization of the code. [PATCH] Move progress indicators to the status bar

Terminology change for "full screen mode"

Hello, I propose changing the terms used to describe the button that hides or shows the control panel. This feature is great, btw! "Full screen" means to me that when I press the button, the browser window will grow to the size of the display, and possibly hide its window manager elements (frame, title bar, buttons, et c.). It doesn't mean to me that the control panel will be hidden. In my copy of the source, I've changed the tooltips for this button to "Show controls" and "Hide controls". But also, the names of the variables and functions that are related to this button should change, for easy readability. Do people agree with me that "hide/show controls" is better than "full screen on/off"? If so, I will create and submit a patch to change the variable and function names. At least dillo knows where the dillorc is placed by means of sysconfdir. Now, if you configure and make dillo, and later reconfigure with another sysconfdir, the data (dillorc) will be installed in the new directory correctly, but the binary will not be rebuilt so dillo will look for it in the old place. :( Touching prefs.c does the trick, but isn't this supossed to happen automagically? VERBATIM and TEXTAREA

This could be very important for those of you expecting to be able to use dillo with some sites that use the feature: for instance GNU-mailman! Just give it a try! (was BUG#318 and BUG#400). Only the inclusion to release version does. One person thinks he needs this feature that is trivial to implement. Even if it never goes to the main trunk, let's give it a try: it might prove usefull to some people. Or not, who cares? Dillo is great for this because the code is simple enough to understand and experiment with. Good luck trying this kind of stunt with mozilla! The Sylpheed project experimented embedding dillo, and eventually dillo included the feature. Bottom line: I'll always favor experimental contribution that prove useless to sterile discussion about the value of an hypothetical feature. Eric.

First: I know that I haven't submitted any patches yet, so am not qualified to really say much (my patches are for old versions and all useless, thanks to the sterling work of others, coming up with better solutions -- the best way for it to be ;^) ). I'd still like to point out that whilst this seems like a good idea, using SIGHUP for this is IMnsHO a bad idea. The whole thing with daemons using SIGHUP as a trigger to re-read config is because daemons have no controlling terminal, so can't receive a system-generated SIGHUP. Dillo doesn't detach from a terminal, so can. Whether or not Dillo should actually exit on SIGHUP is another matter. There are two signals reserved for user purposes, SIGUSR1 and SIGUSR2. I'm not sure of what to do here :(. For now I added Patrice's patch that simply adds: sysconf_DATA = dillorc in Makefile.am, and it works! The problem is we don't know what directory it gets in. :-) Currently if it is /usr/local/etc/ or /etc, it works, but if someone chooses /opt/weird/etc, it won't be found. Patch for commands.c and menu.c to enable menus

Hello, I've re-enabled the disabled menus and implemented the callback for the Help -> Dillo Manual menu item. I have also slightly tweaked the default keybindings to be more standardized. commands.c: Documentation for functions. Implemented a_Commands_manual_callback(). menu.c: Enabled Bookmarks and Help menus. Changed default keybindings to be more standard. prefs.h: Defined constant used by menu.c. Anti-aliasing

If you remember somebody made a patch to enable anti-aliasing, but it was for Dillo 0.6.6 or something. I updated it to work with current CVS, it's attached (few lines). There are just a couple of remarks: 1. You have to do the final step of the compilation manually to link to the correct libraries because I don't know how to add them to the auto-tools stuff. (-lXft -lXrender -lfontconfig if I remember correctly.) 2. It seems to me that italic and bold fonts aren't rendered correctly (they are rendered as normal) but I don't know if it's just due to how I configured stuff in my box. Please tell me if it works for you. IMHO, after 2 is fixed (if it's broken at all) this should go into CVS, because it's a major benefit to have anti-aliased fonts. Well, IMHO, as I said.

Contains automatic meta-refresh, no-cache/expire cache control, showing alt text while loading images, some stupid hacks for javascript urls and simply weird relative urls, fast search engine queries by typeing '?query text' into address bar and some other changes (read the patch...). META refresh

I would like to get dillo to respond to META-refresh without stopping with a warning message. Is there a simple way that I can do that? I have looked around at the code and can make a few changes and recompile, but as yet I am not proficient enough to know what to change and where.

Anyway, I've attached is a five-minutes-hack, which fills this function, and binds it to the page menu. Can I do this with dillo?

Hi there, I've a project in hands where we'll do some sort of kiosk's with linux for some users. We'll use Linux (cost savings) and we need a _FAST_ browser. I've seen dillo working and I think its HTML rendering capabilities are OK for my needs my I need to print some "basic" stuff (like small lists and stuff). Can I do such a thing with dillo? I've just committed event handling for DwTable, test it e.g. by selecting text in the red bar at <http://www.daemonnews.org>. There are still some glitches, e.g. in the splash screen, with the pointer on the thin black lines), but these are minor issues, in most cases selection works reasonable and (in all cases) stable, so I'd like to finish the work on it for the 0.7.2 release. Further features (scrolling, word selection and some others) will be done for 0.7.3 or later. Sebastian

Printing support

Is there any work done related to printing support? Currently, it's the major reason why I'm using mozilla... Also, what is the current status on: Multiple plugins (there is apparently a rumour that dillo only supports one plugin at a time). Cut and paste (Apparently it's working nicely now...) ftp support.
