Feature request: send URL to

When you come across a page that Dillo cannot render, it would be nice to have a button--or option added to right-click menu--that would allow the user to send the requested URL to another browser or script, which might be specified in .dillorc. Something like ROX's Send to, but this would only need a single option. Obviously I'm telling you I'm lazy :) Cheers, Todd

For exampke, I'm connected to the web with a 33.6K dial- up modem. Another, possible concern with pre-loading is for hand=held devices that have pay-per-minute Internet connections. I would guess that folks with that kind of connection would only want to download the pages they specifically choose. But if I had an unlimited-access, high-speed Internet connection I can see how automatically loading all links on a page into background pages would be nifty. Can't compile 0.7.2 with alternate icons

First off thanks for this great browser! One question linking this issue to the coding of apps in general, where "bloat" is an issue, does offering a greater variety of config options contribute to said "bloat"? In Mozilla (as in Dillo), I often middle-click to open links in a new window or tab. If I miss the link by a pixel or two, suddenly the current Mozilla window is trying to load whatever happened to be in the clipboard. A great replacement feature (IMO) would be to replicate Mozilla's behavior only when the user middle-clicks directly on the location bar. Suggested mouse short-cuts

I would like to suggest two mouse shortcuts for the Forward and Back buttons. To go back (like clicking the Back toolbar button) the user holds down the right mouse button and, while continuing to hold down the right button, clicks the left mouse button. The browser then goes back in the page history. To go forward (like clicking the Forward toolbar button) the user holds down the left mouse button and, while continuing to hold down the left button, clicks the right mouse button. The browser then goes forward in the page history. After a little practice this makes navigation through the page history very quick becuase you don't have to keep moving the mouse onto the toolbar. I am glad to report that I have finally gotten Dillo 0.7.2 up and running. Many thanks to all who helped me sort out my installation problem, especially the patient explanations about libpng, and the patch to ./configure. In a nutshell I completely removed all traces of libpng (libraries, includes, and .pc files), downloaded the libpng 1.2.5 sources, built and installed that, patched the Dillo ./configure file, then built and installed Dillo 0.7.2 from source and it worked. Nothing like some occasional house cleaning to clear out version conflicts. Thanks again for your help. Dillo is magnificient! cache control patch (fixes bug #161)

Patch is against current CVS: http://www.zone.ee/myzz/dillo/dillo-cache-control.diff Makes dillo to not cache by default 302, 303, 307 redirections and recognize expires and cache-control headers (according to rfc 2616). It also allows configuring minimal expire time (for text and images) and do not reload images which are on different domain than the page which embeds them (attempt to fight against banners that tell they shouldn't be cached).

odd problem

I like Dillo, but have one persistant problem with it. I can't read Dilbert until I've read the New York Times. For some reason the Dilbert site will never show any of the images but it does show background, text, etc. If I cruise down my mail further to the NYT email and read it (which always shows all the images) then I can go back to Dilbert and then everything shows up. succesfull dillo 0.7.2 compilation

Hi, just reporting an almost succesfull dillo 0.72 compilation (is a linux from scratch machine, so evrthing is up to date). A minor detail i used ./configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc and the make install part created an /etc/bin with dillo and the bm plugin inside it. that's no problem anyway. dillo-0.7.2 and libpng.

Guys and Gals, I posted a note here about beyond linux from scratch (blfs) a few minutes ago, then re-read the digest. Seems some of you might need to know how to compile libpng from sources - and where to get 'em. I recommend the blfs book for common sense instructions on this and other source builds. http://beyond.linuxfronscratch.org Although designed for the 'Linux From Scratch' (lfs) pseudo-distribution (it's a book on how to build a leading-edge linux using sources alone), the instructions work for many other distros too.
