The only other site I've found is www.lynucs.org which I expect to correct the problem when told. I tried a small hack, but it has the side effect of not cleaning-up any INLINE element upon <div> openings. I tried a few times with and without dpid already running and can't reproduce it on my machine. I'll keep trying to get a way or hint on it, this is just to let you know. It is very hard to try to debug a problem you don't know how to reproduce. The good news is that I found a way to crash the current file-dpi by hitting reload quickly. This didn't happen with 0.8.2, so I'll start investigating here hoping it gets me to the root of the same problem. I would consider trying to do a gtk2 port, or is this discouraged ? The reason is that gtk2 seem's to be the most used toolkit these days, also it's available using cairo for rendering :-) .. Unfortunately the question is not as simple as anyone would like. Adding keyboard navigation is not an easy task and it requires some knowledge. Once upon a time Frank de Lange worked on this and he managed to build a protoype that was a polishing phase away from being included in the main trunk. You can explore the mailing list archives and find his work. Beware of the huge integrated patch by him, just get the keyboard part and try to start from there, otherwise you'll get lost. [Dillo-dev]resuming from offline gap due to ISP change

Hi everybody, the rendering is really much better in the 0.8.3 version. Well done! Unfortunately, I'm experiencing problems with the new version that I've never had with 0.8.2: 1. Dillo displays a page without the embedded GIF image, showing the alternate text instead. It starts consuming all cpu time, but still responds to keyboard and mouse input (history navigation; no new pages are displayed). 2. Dillo doesn't display a page at all. Cpu/input behaviour as before. The problems only occur with certain local files, not http pages. Moreover, they don't occur deterministically. They seem to happen somewhat more often if one follows a link instead of loading a page from the command line. The "bad" pages are from some documentation I've written, available at http://www-fourier.ujf-grenoble.fr/~franz/convex/doc/current/ . But remember that so far the problems have only occurred with local files. You can download the complete documentation (roughly 80 kB) at http://www-fourier.ujf-grenoble.fr/~franz/convex/files/current/convex-doc.t… (gunzip it in a new directory). Problem 1 occurs with the page "about.html" (link "About this document" on the main page "index.html"). It happens in about 50% of all cases. It does not depend on the setting of w3c_plus_heuristics in dillorc. Problem 2 ocurred so far with the pages "PFACE.html" (link: Operators and functions "for PFACE") and "GFDL.html" (link "GNU free document license"). This problem is extremely rare, though (2 or 3 times in all). Here is Dillo's command line output for a problem 1 case: ~/convex/doc/1.1$ dillo index.html dillo_dns_init: Here we go! Hello, I've tried out dillo-0.8.3-rc1 for a few days on a Debian GNU/Linux 3.0 "woody"/i386 system. It compiled and installed cleanly, and I did not encounter any regressions against 0.8.2 yet. The parser changes are a real improvement -- several formerly problematic sites I've tried work now, and the "Detected HTML errors" view produces much more meaningful results. Two small problems I've encountered: - It seems that, if a pair of <a href="..."> </a> tags contains something illegal, like <div>, then the <a> tags are ignored, rather than the illegal stuff inside. That's suboptimal. As an example, look at http://www.kmelektronik.de/ (admittedly a very broken site, standards-wise). The text fragments "Light-Version Versand" and "Light-Version Shop" near the page bottom should really be links. If this is hard to fix, then don't bother. - This one is not new, but I fixed it a while ago for myself and then forgot about it: the "This page uses the NON-STANDARD meta refresh tag..." warning usually occurs inside <head>, but is immediately sent to the parser, which in turn switches its HTML processing state from IN_HEAD to IN_BODY prematurely. After that, head-only tags like <title> and <base> are ignored. A minimal fix is at the end of the mail. The fact is, when you have to pick which one of two similar libraries to include, just adding the second isn't an option. We're talking about fitting everything, including printing, on a 32M or 64M flash, and every redundancy counts against you. You can't just go willy-nilly installing extra libraries because an application only compiles against version 1, but not version 2. The rest of the items in the project are compiled against gtk2. So yes, in order to use Dillo, it would need to be fixed to be compiled against glib2 and gtk2, because just installing another set of libraries is not an option. ljl

In the Dillo interface, I think that is good idea a simple speedometer for medium speed. medium_speed = Total_html_size_in_KBytes / Total_time_to_load. This isn't the real speed of line, but is the real speed for load html document. I think that is very easy to make. Can be displayed together the images loaded, and KB loaded. Another question, why Dillo render, and render again and again,when load are in process? This burn a lot of CPU. Explorer and other seems to render at a time. Another more, It's posible make a dialog box that answer the human if want accept cookies from site, this time, always from this site,never from this site,no for this time? Thanks, Fran.

Even better than with native support because fluxbox allows me to set the tab labels on the information bar at the top of the window, allowing me to maximize the viewable space. Notwithstanding that I believe the WM to be the right place to implement TABS, maybe in the future we'll have to add some native support for them. Unless the most popular WMs or freedesktop project promote them as a standard, users will lack of TABS in Dillo and asking them to change the WM is too much. Given that they show up correctly when I look at that site here, I suspect it's a font problem on the display, not an HTML or Dillo problem. As for the default background: that's up to the browser, not the spec. A basic web design rule going back to 1996 is: never assume what the default colors are going to be -- if you want something specific, set it in your code. Hi, I'm Florent BERANGER, from Flonix company (http://www.flonix.com) We like Dillo because it's small and fast :) I've just tested the 0.8.3rc1, the rendering is really better :) Here 2 remaining bugs I've found : - some hardcoded accented characters (for exemple use "é" in the place of "é" in HTML code) aren't properly displayed. - the pages background must be white by default (actually grey). We currently working to port the "crystal" icon set to Dillo. Since done, you'll can add it in icons page :) We are very interested by Tabs support feature. I saw some patchs for this feature. How can we compile Dillo 0.8.3 with them ? I don't have Cygwin (nor time) here to test it, but surely the Cygwin developers have a clue of what's happening. They probably would appreciate the report too, as they aim to provide the most POSIX like environment I guess. The best way is to test it by stages. The implementation of dpid is not that complex: there's an external daemon process 'dpid' which listens on named sockets and that launches the real dpis when there's activity in the respective named socket. When this happens, the new dpi process "takes over" the socket until it finishes. The details are in doc/Dpid.txt under the sections: "How does it work?" and "dpi service process diagram".
