dillo to access yahoo mail

Hi, I have dillo installed on cgywinX. When I try to logon to the yahoo mail site, it errors out and reports "can't start dpid daemon". I also see "dpid tag is null" in the message. dillo on cygwinX

Hi, I just installed dillo cygwinX. When I try to use yahoo mail, I get "cant start dpid daemon". I try stopping the dpid, but it still gives me the same error. Is yahoo mail supported by dillo? By the way, does dillo in your side displays japanese text???I mean it widgets (i.e button, file menus). In my side, dillo tries to display japanese on its widgets but instead, it display lines instead of text. Any idea guys??? Thanks, everyone: I have been feeling the same way. Really, it does appear that way, does it not? I have been trying to popularize dillo everywhere, and I am only an end-user, but very frustrated at its lack of motion. Hopefully, dillo will move ahead, and in particular do things such as frame support, tabbed browsing, etc. (Apparently, several pactches were done, but it was never incorporated into dillo for reasons best known to the head developers.) What dillo seriously needs is to incorporate stuff whereby browsing becomes a good experience. It is no good if we have to use another browser even 20% of the time. There is too much overhead in keeping copies of different browsers and remembering their exact key-bindings. And frankly, this will also generate revenue for the project: is anyone seriously going to pay into a browser which will never be able to support frames, javascript, etc? There are a lot of people willing to contribute to dillo, it appears, and the main developers could/should use some of the talent. Clearly, one possibility is to fork dillo. Having vented, dillo is a fantastic browser, but needs to be able to do more stuff. I will use the patched RPMs that you provide.... handling frames and chaging fontsize?

Is it possible to read a page with frames in dillo? Also, how does one increase fontsize? By the way, in addition to my question, Im trying to run dillo with japanese support. I already set the export LC_LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8 and other options to set to run dillo with japanese support. I succeeded the japanese support of dillo on PC. I already installed the fonts, but when I try to do the same steps to the target embedded system FR-V board and try to run dillo, the warning message appeared: Gdk-WARNING **: locale not supported by C library And it fails to display japanese characters sites. Does anyone encounter the same as mine??? Any ideas on how to fix this and able to run dillo with japanese support??? Thanks guys, I already got cross compiled the glib-1.2 and gtk-1.2 for Fujitsu FRV. For reference, I successfully cross compiled the glib-1.2.10and gtk-1.2.9 to get dillo working. I have successfully ported dillo to fujitsu's frv platform and arm-linux. 1. I didn't cross-compile glib1.2 in frv-linux , I natively compiled it . It's a long time wait , but I finnaly finished it. :) 2. If u want to cross-compile dillo/glib1.2/gtk1.2 in arm-linux , I suggest that u use scratchbox ( www.scratchbox.org ). Ok, so Gtk2 is not supported by dillo. Currently, Im trying to port the Gtk1.2 but having hard time to port the glib. Glib1.2 seems hard to cross compile. Cross Compiling Dillo Error Messages

Hi Guys, Im planning to cross compile dillo to my target FR-V board. I already cross compiled gtk+-2.2.4 and already tested the sample program to the target. Currently, Im starting to cross compile dillo-0.8.5-i18n-misc-20050719. This is the patch version of dillo to display japanese characters. When Im trying to configure the dillo for cross compilation, It tries to find the gtk-config and glib-config from my target bin directory which is not found. Im trying to copy the said files from my host bin to my target bin and edit the target location of the scripts to my target. The configure options i initially tried is this: ./configure --prefix=/opt/gtk --host=frv-linux-gnu --build=i686-pc-linux-gnu --with-jpeg-lib=/opt/gtk/lib --with-jpeg-inc=/opt/gtk/include --with-glib-prefix=/opt/gtk --with-glib-exec-prefix=/opt/gtk --with-gtk-prefix=/opt/gtk --with-gtk-exec-prefix=/opt/gtk LIBZ_LIBS=/opt/gtk/lib LIBJPEG_LIBS=-L/opt/gtk/lib --without-libintl-prefix --without-libiconv-prefix The cross configure now detects it and successfully surpass the configure command. However, it does not detects the png and jpeg which is I successfully cross compiled already. when Im trying to issue a make command, it seems that it does not find gtk.h. When I try to issue a configure like this: ./configure --prefix=/opt/gtk --host=frv-linux-gnu --build=i686-pc-linux-gnu --with-jpeg-lib=/opt/gtk/lib --with-jpeg-inc=/opt/gtk/include --with-glib-prefix=/opt/gtk --with-glib-exec-prefix=/opt/gtk --with-gtk-prefix=/opt/gtk --with-gtk-exec-prefix=/opt/gtk LIBZ_LIBS=/opt/gtk/lib LIBJPEG_LIBS=-L/opt/gtk/lib --without-libintl-prefix --without-libiconv-prefix LDFLAGS=-L/opt/gtk/lib CPPFLAGS=-I/opt/gtk/include It finds my gtk.h and the said error on gtk.h disappear. Optional Image Downloading/HTML2txt Conversion

It would be nice if downloading images was optional, but I've been reading through the docs and haven't found a way. Perhaps a configuration item in dillorc that would tell Dillo to first download just the HTML source, render the text, and then, if you chose to reload it, bring down the images too....?? If Dillo could do that, and be used to convert HTML to plain text, I could ditch w3m! Thanks, Tom

Now the standard seems to be that xhtml should be send es application/xhtml+xml in the first place (there's a note about it somewhere). Or, if that is not possible, application/xml, text/xml, etc. Never as text/html (because this mimetype is not registered for this content). However, dillo doesn't recognize this mimetype and always tries to save an application/xhtml+xml file, though it can always be rendered as html. The current workaround for dillo and other browsers is just send text/html but since standards compliance is very important for dillo I would suggest treating application/xhtml+xml as though it was text/html for the time being. (or at least until the CSS support is complete). Thoughts? Ideas? Wim

Funding activities

Hi there, After coming back from LSM 2005, I've devoted 100% of my time to the funding effort. I know I said that most probably after the LSM a FLTK-based prototype would be online, but at that time we were _very_ advanced to get the core team to work full time on dillo. It failed almost at signing the contracts. I was waiting for this to happen to tell the list the good news. BTW, most of the new dpi stuff (not yet uploaded) was a work for this company. I see no point in spending my last $$ in developing just to tell you a have to leave in a couple of months, so funding has acquired the first priority. For those of you that are curious, the donations link has raised EUR 500 in all its lifespan (2 years or less IIRC). Almost surely, the next release will be GTK-based, and I'll code only when I find a timespan in my fund-related activities. The FLTK port went great while we were working on full steam with Sebastian in Germany, now it's stalled. If funding succeeds, we'll be able to work on it again, and you'll surely enjoy the new Dillo much more than the current one! -- Cheers Jorge.-

Although 'cookiesrc' is enough to control cookies, the compile option "--disable-cookies" was introduced because it served to reduce dillo's binary size for embedded environments (cookie support code is not small). Even now that most of that code was moved into an external plugin, it still saves some remaining cookie-code inside dillo. A patch for the problem is in the CVS now. Please test it. Note: the cookies.dpi is still compiled when cookies are disabled with "--disable-cookies" (near 5KB that can be safely ignored or deleted because it will never run). I don't feel like complicating the autotools* stuff to make the cookies.dpi not to compile ;-). The easiest solution is to comment out the target or subdirectory with a variable like ${NO_COOKIES}, which is set to '#' if --disable-cookies is set. That's what automake uses to implement conditional compilation. Joerg

A lot of us don't even use Windows and have no intention of getting a high-speed connection to the Internet. We don't do sound or java or cookies or plugins or video. On my perfectly functional and RFC-compliant graphical browser, your page displays as mostly blank. It turns out that the printing is white on white... So I use my textmode browser to view it.
