I just wanted to thank jh33 (Johannes I presume?) for his help straightening out my messed up build of fltk2 so I could get dillo2 running properly. I rebuilt fltk2 without the --enable-cairo option, and rebuilt dillo. It is working fine, and I reposted at lwn.net to say that. Thank you for another great release of dillo. Brad

Hm... the FLTK2 test for the buffering worked fine (in case we are talking about the same)... testing this now with dillo. It makes a difference, at least. No setting fixes the whole experience, but with 2, the refresh on uncovering the window works and the main body seems to be stable. What remains is the clutter from text lines over the menu bar and status bar. When scrolling down, text fragments appear and stay at the top, when scrolling up, text fragments appear and stay at the bottom. Alrighty then, Thomas.

Well, this is happening with plain startx /usr/bin/dillo -- :1 So, perhaps we can rule out the window manager;-) -- it would be fluxbox, btw. xorg stuff is _very_ recent, as this is SourceMage GNU/Linux with test grimoire, rolling release. xorg-server 1.5.2 and associated versions... And yes, it is happening all the time. The test apps in FLTK2 build directory work fine, though. Alrighty then, Thomas.

Here are few more suggestions that might be useful: 9) Currently html bug window takes whole screen - I think the old behaviour when it was shown in a small window is better. 10) Because of the lack of CSS support, many text fields a rendered unusable (i.e. http://versme.net/blog/?p=618 or http://www.klubas.lt/tv/article.php?id=18837168 ). Resizable text areas feature would be pretty handy. 11) tabs could be extended to the whole screen width - that way more information would be displayed and selecting the needed tab with mouse would be easier. It's redirecting to the login screen using the Location header. cookies.txt is empty, cookiesrc disables everything, and the cookies dpi is not running. (Yesterday, clicking on the meta refresh link would get hung up in redirections, so I had to allow cookies)

A type mismatch between what the server says it is sending and the actual data, is taken with suspicion by dillo. Unfortunately some servers send downloadable files as text/plain, relying on the data guessing made by the browser (last option as from the SPECs). This is the case. Now, considering that when the server doesn't send Content-Type there's no mismatch, I think it's safe to offer a download. Issues: 1) When trying to login to gmail I get a big ugly warning saying: "Non standard meta refresh tag". The "here" link doesn't work. gmail basic html view works ok with links-hacked & elinks. So, I guess, that shouldn't be hard to fix. 2) With the latest dillo2 version (I think this bug was introduced only recently, as I tested dillo2 from cvs not so long ago & it wasn't present) the menu is "teared off" when pressed. Suggestions: 1) Currently there doesn't seem to be a way to navigate bookmarks with keyboard. This is a purely cosmetic update to my previous patch: it adds a warning about alpha code to the output of "./configure --help" and improves the appearance of the "SSL is disabled" message from the plugin. It does not change any functionality. Regards, Jeremy Henty

I see that someone in bugtracker asked for a charset selection dialog. In my early charset code, I had a dialog where the initial text was, for example, "text/html; charset=UTF-8". If I remember correctly, Jorge did not really like this because the percentage of users who would know what to type when confronted with this dialog is small. Probably true. (In part I liked it because text/plain provided page source for free.) An alternative would be a menu with predefined charsets, but filling dillo with charset names does not delight me.
