Registration is open for Software Freedom Day 2008!
Hi everyone, SFD2008 is around the corner - Saturday 20 September - and team registrations are now open! The first 300 teams registered before the 15th July will receive a SFD team pack including SFD 2008 tshirts, button pins, stickers and balloons, as well some useful resource CDs including some OpenEducation Discs (http://www.theopendisc.com/education/), a resource DVD with artwork, documentation, presentation templates and video material, and the option for some Ubuntu CDs. Additional T-shirts will also be available to purchase via our online store, which will be open soon. You can register by visiting our registration page but don't forget that you need to make your team page (or update your old page) *before* registering. There is more information about how to form a team and how to register on the teams page on our wiki: http://cgi.softwarefreedomday.org/register.html http://softwarefreedomday.org/teams Check out who has already registered on our new interactive world map! http://cgi.softwarefreedomday.org/map.shtml We wanted to change how people find teams so it was directly through the map rather than by continent and then country due to your excellent feedback last year, so teams can simply be softwarefreedomday.org/team rather than a really long url. If you already have a team page you can create a new page and shift all your data to the new page, or you can just link to your old events from your new page. We will also be ensuring team packages are sent much earlier this year so you get them on time. We had about 20 packages returned to us last year from teams who put the incorrect address or didn't pick up their packages so please ensure your address is 100% correct as we can't check it! Good luck with your SFD 2008 preparations, and don't forget to pass the message around and get more teams involved! We had over 330 teams last year and are anticipating over 500 this year! Thank you all for helping take software freedom to the streets and make a better world for everyone! After all, freedom isn't just for us geeks :) Cheers and happy planning! Hi, Here is the team page for Bangladesh, created by Bangladesh Open Source Network. This is also the page for all the local chapters of BdOSN along with the one at the university of Noakhali. You can join here or create your own page individually. To join with us, just add your name on our page or mail us. To create an individual team, you have to register first. For your information, like the previous year, we are going to celebrate SFD nationwide. It includes programs in different programs in universities in and beyond the capital city including your own city. We have also regional chapters like Chittagong Open Source Network. Let us know if we can do any favor for you. Best of luck with your plan of celebration. You can talk to Mushfiq of Noakhali University if interested at 01710481761 or 01911154127. Dear Friend I seen you add our name in SFD Bangladesh team page, thanks for that. But there is a mistake in our organization name. Our organization name is Participatory Research & Action Network-PRAN; not Participatory Action and Research Network - PRAN. We'll happy if you put our correct name in the page. Please keep in touch. Hi
Good see your mail. I hope the mailing is working as a bridge with us to development partnership and understanding.
I saw the team page of Bangladesh which created by BdOSN. I love to work with BdOSN. In previous year we had our name ( Participatory Research & Action Network-PRAN) in BdOSN page. But did not get any support or campagin mattrial from BdOSN or SFD team. this is fact we have celebrated the day without any support.
From our last year experience we are afraid to celebrate day with any other. But I am member of BdOSN and want to work with you.
I have plan to celebrate the day at district town of Noakhali where youth, professional, media peoples, telecentre, NGOs will participants. At the same time we would like to arrange various action and fun in NSTU.
Celebration of the day is important for us. So if you support us then we have no objection to join with BdOSN. I hope it'll more strengthens for OSS campaign. You can add us in BdOSN team page.
Please, keep in touch. and update us with idea, matrial and resources.
Thanks for your time

Hi all, Apologies to those who have been having trouble requesting supplies when registering: on some browsers, there is a bug which prevents the shipping address window from opening. That's what comes from trying to make the registration script too complicated! We are working on a solution to this technical glitch, however until then there is a very easy workaround that you can use: -------------------------- When you get to the part of the form that says "Would your team like to receive supplies?", change the drop-down box to "Yes" and then click on the refresh/reload button on your browser. -------------------------- Thanks for your patience. If you have previously registered and were unable to request supplies, and you would like to, please feel free to register again now, and use the workaround described above to ensure that your supplies request is received. We will remove your earlier, duplicate registration. Robert. On Mon, Jun 2, 2008 at 12:30 AM, Pia Waugh <greebo@pipka.org> wrote:
Hi everyone,
SFD2008 is around the corner - Saturday 20 September - and team registrations are now open!
There is more information about how to form a team and how to register on the teams page on our wiki:
http://cgi.softwarefreedomday.org/register.html http://softwarefreedomday.org/teams
Check out who has already registered on our new interactive world map!
http://cgi.softwarefreedomday.org/map.shtml
We wanted to change how people find teams so it was directly through the map rather than by continent and then country due to your excellent feedback last year, so teams can simply be softwarefreedomday.org/team rather than a really long url.
After all, freedom isn't just for us geeks :)
Cheers and happy planning! Pia and the SFI team

Ah! thanks, that explains it. I had trouble initially, then wrote (you) an email re the problem, then as if by magic, the correct window appeared! I must have refreshed without knowing! -- alan cocks Kubuntu user#10391 Linux user #360648
