Please update your wiki pages!
Hi everyone, Please please update wiki pages with event details and a contact person. I am going to try over the next week to get our National 24hr broadcaster ABC24 to do a story about teams all over the world. But so many registered teams on the map have NO details on their page. And there's no way of knowing what is actually happening. So Please! I beg you, put the basic details of your event on your wiki page, and an email address or phone number of a contact person. Add a link to your own page if you have one. It's a global event. We deserve global media coverage, but it's very very hard to get that if the details can't be found. Also - if you do have coverage - remember to update this year's Press page. We have had great coverage in past year's but not so much this year! http://wiki.softwarefreedomday.org/Marketing/Press Or is there another page somewhere that I am missing? -- Software Freedom Day 2010 http://sfd.org.au/melbourne A world wide celebration of State Library of Victoria Free and Open Source Software Cnr Swanston & Latrobe Sts, Melbourne and the community behind it. 11am - 4pm, Saturday 18 September Supported by Vicnet, The Victorian Government & Linux Australia
this is also a good place to list SFD events http://open-source-events.com/ <http://open-source-events.com/> On 11 September 2010 11:17, Frederic Muller - SFI < fred@softwarefreedomday.org> wrote:
Definitely a great advice and I thank you for reminding everyone.
People will be looking for "events nearby" and if they can't find the basic details such as:
- The date and time - The place (maybe add a map, directions, a photo of the entrance door,...) - An idea of the program for the day
they might just not come and visit your event. So not only the press needs this kind of details but the people you want to be talking to as well.
@Cat: there is also this page http://wiki.softwarefreedomday.org/Marketing/SitePosting which lists (team leaders usually) submissions to sites, blogs and mailing lists. But that's about it.
As a side note we should be announcing the 2009 Best Event competition results on Monday and the prizes for 2009 and 2010. We've worked hard to find something special for those special teams making an outstanding performance for Software Freedom Day and think you'll be happy to discover what we've come up with this year.
So team leaders and members, please do spend the necessary time to document your event
- before: on your team wiki page and your own site if you have one - during: take photos, videos, blog, invite the press, etc - and after: make wonderful reports that will help you, your team and Free Software celebration.
Thank you.
Fred

Hi Paula,
Are you still having the issue? Maybe try setting up a new wiki user and edit with that one.

Hello, 2010/9/11 Cat Scratch <kattekrab@gmail.com>:
Hi everyone,
Please please update wiki pages with event details and a contact person.
I updated wiki for Europe/Russia/Saratov and try to register at third time. I don't know why our Team exists at common list and not exists at common map. I also updated Saratov activities at: http://wiki.softwarefreedomday.org/Marketing/SitePosting PS: I am very sad, that we don't get any supplies this year, and I think is too late for this now... -- Sin (Sinelnikov Evgeny)

Dear Sin,
Let me confirm 2 things with you: 1. Did you submit your team details at http://cgi.softwarefreedomday.org/register.html
Yes, I did it three times (in Jule, in August and this night), but I don't get confirmation anytime.
2. - If not, then this is how you get on the map (among other things) - If yes, then did you check your spam folder? it is usually where the confirmation emails ends up when you don't receive it...
I sent my registration this night last time. There are no confirmation email received to me yet (SPAM folder I checked too). May be problem with my emails (sin@altlinux.ru same as sin@altlinux.org) and it's redirect to GMail? -- Sin (Sinelnikov Evgeny)
