*SOFTWARE FREEDOM DAY, SEP 19**th * *2009* *SONA COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY* *Department of Information Technology* *What is Software Freedom Day?* Software Freedom Day (SFD) is a worldwide celebration of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS). The reason behind the SOFTWARE FREEDOM DAY celebration is to promote the use and awareness of FOSS among Academic community and Industries. We have invited about 58 schools in and around the Salem city to take part in this celebration. We have also set up 20 stalls to demonstrate about various open source softwares. *Events:* - Short films explaining the technology and benefits behind the use of open source softwares. - Short film contest for students - About the advantages of open source developed using open source softwares. - Demonstration for the installation of various GNU/Linux distributions. *Agenda:* Seminar on Introduction to GCC Compiler and Debbuger *Speaker :* Mr.Sanjeev Saini, Project Engineer, AU-KBC Research Center, Anna University Chennai www.sonatech.ac.in/crdfoss
