I contacted the Free Software Foundation to try to see if there was anyone in my area interested in helping to plan or attend a local Software Freedom Day event. They're trying to renew support for their local groups for the FSF 40 celebration. I think this would be a great opportunity to join forces between local FSF groups and SFD organizers and a chance to celebrate both occasions. The FSF is trying to revitalize local groups in my area, so I told someone at the FSF that I would host a virtual planning meeting for my local area and see if anyone would like to attend. The virtual meeting is May 31st, 2025 at 11 AM Eastern via Jitsi: https://meet.jit.si/SoftwareFreedomDay The agenda is to brainstorm ideas for SFD, FSF 40 and to talk about Free Software in general. I realize most SFD list members aren't near each other or near me, but if anyone would like to attend and brainstorm ideas or just talk about Free Software in general, you're welcome to join the virtual meeting.
