All the best for your SFD event
Hi guys! SFD is very near and we wanted to send you all our thanks for going out and talking about Free and Open SourceSoftware to the people of your community. A lot of you have been involved in SFD since the early days and it is really nice for me to feel I know you (well I actually simply recognize an email address and sometimes we do have exchanged a few messages as well). For the new organizers let me tell you that SFD is like a big worldwide family where we meet every year during a short and intense period of time and make the best of it. Hopefully you will quickly feel at ease among us and come back next year to make another colorful and exciting SFD event in your area. So regardless of your background and experience in running SFD events we hope you will have as much fun and success tomorrow (some of you will celebrate SFD in a few days or weeks, this applies too of course). The SFI board will all be thinking of you and looking forward to seeing all the photos, videos and reading the reports you'll be submitting. Remember that the hash tag is #softwarefreedomday and we will be announcing the 2012 competition terms and prizes very soon. Thank you again and happy SFD! Fred

Hi All, I'm the lead organizer of Google Developer Group Armenia, and I'm new in this community. This year is the first for us, so it will be a small meeting with our GDG members. Nice to join this community, guys. On Fri, Sep 14, 2012 at 10:47 PM, Ingeniero Forigua < ingeniero.forigua@gmail.com> wrote:

I just want to say thanks for all the SFD support in years past. Our event is always six days early, in order to take advantage of a rather large folk festival in the area. That way, it's much easier for us to get a lot of traffic stopping by our table. As this is an outdoor event, most tents and tables don't have electricity. However, this year, with the large batteries, we were able to keep three computers running for almost the entire duration of the festival, from 10:00 AM until 6:30. We've had batteries for three years now. And, this year, someone brought an antenna and telephone "hot-spot". So, for the first time in seven years of SFD, we had an Internet connection, which went a long way towards convincing people that the software we were using was viable for them. Many stopping by are now visitors from years past who took a leap of faith and return to tell us that they're quite happy with the switch. --
Hi all, thank you Fred and SFD team for all your work. In Christchurch, Aotearoa New Zealand, we have survived the earthquakes by relocating to a new SFD venue library. Thank you Christchurch City Council. Just burning off Snowlinux to try, and packing materials for our open day. Have a great Software Freedom Day [1] all!
