Create a local "Libre Planet" group for software freedom advocacy
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi everyone After SFD in Montreal I've created a new Libre Planet group to continue gathering and encouraging local activists and free technology enthusiasts: http://libreplanet.org/wiki/Group:LibrePlanet_Quebec I encourage all SFD teams to start similar groups locally: http://libreplanet.org/wiki/Form:Group We are very lucky to have active local communities already, so this is mostly serving as an umbrella communication hub, as well as a place where active FSF members that live in the area can organize and represent our goals. As well as http://www.libreoffice.org/get-involved/developers/ probably various Linux, BSD, & other OSs also have porting mail lists, eg: http://www.freebsd.org used to have an international list to consider porting issues of openoffice versions to FreeBSD. That list expanded to also carry traffic relating to porting LibreOffice. That list closed 2011.09.20 http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-openoffice/2011-September/004752.... & was subsumed into http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-office Remit: This is a forum about office applications using FreeBSD. Discussion centers around office applications, their installation, their development and their support within FreeBSD. So one can either select by geography, or OS. Some don't install until we've personaly localy compiled sources (inc. me). Getting source packages the size of OpenOffice or LibreOffice to compile is a mammoth task in Disc, CPU, & manual interventions when any of lord knows how many dependencies may break. International lists of people porting software to specific OS's can be of more interest to some than local geographic User groups. "Horses for courses". There's uses both for lists defined by app & geography, & lists defined by app & OS.
