Re: [SFD-discuss] Two regional teams from one the same region
Hi, Thanks for your quick answer. For example, there is already a regional team for the country, Bangladesh (http://softwarefreedomday.org/teams/asia/bangladesh?action=show&redirect=teams%2Fasiaandmiddleeast%2Fbangladesh). Is it possible to create a new regional team for Bangladesh or join the team as a partner? Shehab ----- Original Message ---- From: Douglas A. For instance, so places in the US are going by a city and others are going by a state. But, to answer your question, I'm pretty sure the answer is yes. Douglas A. Hi Shebab, Our recommendation is that you use your best judgment, preferably in cooperation with the other team [leader]. If you contact them and get no response, organize your own event. If they want to work with you on one event and you agree, great! If they're excited to coordinate your two separate events and perhaps share on advertising, or something, great! Basically, just try to be reasonable and combine when it makes sense and organize separately when it doesn't. I hope this helps. :) Regards, Matt Shehab wrote: [Mon Jun 25 2007, 12:38:10AM EDT]

Great question! My first recommendation is to contact the team directly using the details on their page. If you still want to run your own event because you have a different audience or are in a different area, go for it! We had about 15 teams in Australia last year. We are a big spread out country so it makes sense to have more local events than a big regional event. Cheers, Pia -- Linux Australia http://linux.org.au/ "The future is here. Dear Shehab, It's great to know that you want to be a part of SFD '08. Now that you've shown your interest (thanks!), you've got two options: 1) Joining our team: We're the same team that organised SFD '05 and '06, and we're ready to rock again. If you're an individual or an organisation interested in celebrating SFD, then please get in touch with us at <sfd AT linux.org.bd>. Someone will get in touch with you with further details. We're a very large Linux Users Group and our members are scattered all over the country. No matter where you're located, and we can get together to organise an event. 2) Form your own team: If you want to organise an event independently, you can go ahead. In that case, we'll not be covering your event details on our press release, and we won't be able to send you our publications, t-shirts, and other promotional materials. However, we can provide you guidelines and supports that you might need. Best regards, Russell SFD Bangladesh Team On 25/06/07, Shehab <shehab_sust@yahoo.com> wrote:
