Celebrate "Software Freedom Day" and use Facebook as the main page seem to be very wrong to me. Hey Paulo,
Hi Ruwan,
While I agree with you. Unfortunately, we need a platform to reach our audience,
I am not totally against use facebook to call people to the SFD. In my opinion, what is wrong is use only Facebook as a main page. Beg your pardon. I too found Facebook inappropriate. I know, it is a different topic. Since you are already involved in Open Source, the next step is to get informed about what the "big four" are doing, from data mining, surveillance, breaking anti-competitive law to political manipulation in big scale. (I dare not start those topics here, that'll explode. There are other sources and pl. take your time. Happy journey Visvanath (no, I am not in Sri Lanka, based in Europe)
Agree, Let's try to call participant on our own platform, foss.lk revamping and we just hosted foss.lk/forum, maybe next time we would be able to go through that. On Wed, Sep 12, 2018 at 8:53 PM Visvanath Ratnaweera < visvanath@ratnaweera.net> wrote:

For some extend I agree, but as we are in the ground level yet, there are more we need to focus than boycotting, (I know that is not what was said) IMO worrying on such stuffs makes no scene at all. Therefore, for the time being never mind what ever it is, just use the best media to reach the people, that is the most important thing ! Facebook event page is not THE event page I guess, use the other link instead. BUT in the context here, facebook is the BEST media. So use it to reach the audience. My 2 cents !!! /Bckurera On Wed, Sep 12, 2018 at 9:23 PM Ruwan Ranganath <ruwanranganathz@gmail.com> wrote:

Hello SFD global, Perhaps we should just use every opportunity available to promote FOSS promotion day? e.g. Here in Christchurch, New Zealand, we have use of a local library computer lab, so can advertise SFD on the city council's website events system: https://www.ccc.govt.nz/news-and-events/find-a-learning-opportunity/show/175... Good luck for tomorrow, and growing Software Freedom. Regards Rik pp Sydenham GNU/Linux Users https://www.facebook.com/TeamChristchurchSFD/ On 2018-09-13 16:41, Buddhike Kurera wrote:
