Gmane.org as a Web interface for @sf-day.org mailing lists?
Well, we've already had this discussion in the past, but still, is there a good reason /not/ to use http://gmane.org/? Actually, making a mailing list appear at Gmane is thoroughly simple. There's no (I believe) negative side effects on the infrastructure, and it requires very little assistance from the list's administrators… … Except for one thing: it'd be nice to have the /verbatim/ mailing list archives uploaded to Gmane. And these archives are only available to the administrators. So, is there a chance it could be done? -- FSF associate member #7257
I'm about to file a request for the newly-created planning-ru@ mailing list to be archived at Gmane.org. As per the Gmane policy, I'm asking for the list administrators to approve such a request. (As there's no archive (yet) to be uploaded, no intervention of the list administrators is otherwise required.) -- FSF associate member #7257 Coming soon: Software Freedom Day http://mail.sf-day.org/lists/listinfo/ planning-ru (ru), sfd-discuss (en)

Didn't have time to look into that yet, so please go ahead for the Russian list. Thank you. Fred

Hi, Just for curiosity, what's the difference between Gmane and Mailman (most common mail list software)? Regards, 2011/8/16 Ivan Shmakov <ivan@gray.siamics.net>

Gmane is like a gui front end to the mailing list, if I understood correctly. You can read more here: http://everything.explained.at/Gmane/ We discussed the quietness of our mailing list in the past, and the tech oriented mailing list, versus apparently more opened forum discussion medium. We will still have a forum based discussion medium one day, once I get the time to integrate something with moinmoin. Fred On 08/18/2011 01:41 AM, Rodrigo Rodriguez wrote:
