Dear SFD team members and supporters,
So with a bit more than a week to SFD some of us are wondering how
you're all getting ready for your event. We know some of you have
chosen a more convenient date at the 18th was conflicting with either
the Jewish New Year, the Ramadan or then Nanjing Massacre Memorial day
(just to name a few).
We have started to contact our sponsors to see whether they would have
people interested to speak at any event of their choice by looking up
at http://cgi.softwarefreedomday.org/2010/map.shtml. I think it could
be a good idea to involve them 'deeper' into participating but it's
always a challenge to coordinate.
We have so far only FOSS promoting organizations which make it a real
match for us, namely Canonical, Google, Red Hat, Qt (Nokia) and Linode.
We will let you know if we receive any specific request.
We will also have one A4 size ad in Linux Magazine and Ubuntu User
(mainly covering Europe), sponsored by the two named publications. The
magazines should already be on stand and get you visitors for your
event. Do make sure you wiki page is up to date with, at least, time,
location and summary of planned activities listed.
We're also working on the 2009 Best SFD Event competition and hopefully
should be able to announce the results. There are some pretty awesome
submissions and definitely an inspiration to all of us. I recommend
taking a look at previous year competition results if you like this
kind of stimulation.

So please let us know how you're doing, or join us for a chat (but do
you have the time??) on our IRC channel on freenode.net at #sfd ( or
webchat client at http://softwarefreedomday.org/content/irc-chat ).
Thanks and happy SFD to all!
