greetings, this is my first post on this list. last year, for the event, I went from Canada to Tacna (Peru) and it was good. this year I am on my way to Peru too yet we are not sure which city will we do. It is under discussion in our groups if we should do a big city as Lima this time, ...something smaller perhaps, or even are under consideration remote areas as small municipalities in amazons that during the last weeks we see increased interest in ubuntu from them. ...we welcome anybody to Peru :) In remote areas, from experience that I have, I see that T-shirts are not as affective for the adults as it would be for the children. Perhaps because of the regional poverty children would use more the T-shirts than the adults and they seems to me an effective advertising. If we could have child's design (size) with some heart that would say "I love ubuntu" ...I think would be cool. Parents look at "what children have on the T-shirt" too. Cheers Malko

It occurred to me that it would be nice to encourage some people from further afield to come up (or down) to Coffs to give presentations on whatever cool things they're doing with free software. In fact, beyond my own selfish need for new speakers at our own event, there may be quite a few people around the world willing to travel a bit to spread the word beyond their usual circle on whatever they're doing. I'm thinking that it would be generally useful if people based in major metropolitan areas offered their services to teams in more regional areas, even if it's just the next town up the road.
Kim and I are heading to Mt Gambier in SE SA so its a thought we've been having over here too. There might be some folks in other regional areas that might like to see Coffs in the Spring. You're welcome in SE SA if you'd like a change of scenery yourself.
Cheers
Janet
