Thanks Frederic,
I understand.
Is it possible some teams share their programs with me for last editions of SFD. I just want to get an idea.
Thank you for your explanations, dear Frederic.

Hi!

First of all SFD is not a Linux day ;-). We're promoting Free and Open
Source Software to non-FOSS users. As I wrote earlier this morning
somewhere else "Getting people to migrate from Windows or Mac to
GNU/Linux in one day is risky at best, getting them to use FOSS products
on their current OS, teaching them to make the best out of it and
showing them we're here all year around to support them is definitely a
more progressive and successful way. And who knows,
6 months down the road the might dual boot or use a WM into a Free OS."

For team packs delivery date all the packs were shipped on the 11th and
left China on the 16th and you should count a maximum of 3 weeks to get
them. Reality has shown that it's somewhere between a week to 4
depending on a lot of factors which are outside of anyone's control...

Theme-wise, no we don't have a theme per year, but I usually hover
between a few depending on the penetration of FOSS in the area where I
run my SFD event and the speakers I can get. Those are:
- Make your dream come true
- Getting things done with Free Software

Those are the generic ones where we either have highlighted people who
have been involved in Free Software and got great jobs thanks to it, or
where we showcase some companies/people doing things with Free Software
(you can obviously replace that by FOSS) and explain it to people,
giving them a first glance at their own options.

Then if the environment is more fertile you can definitely go into more
specific fields of work and elaborate on those. That could also very
well be some workshops happening at the same time as your general speeches.

The program of the day should be available on your wiki page at leats a
week before the event, this will give an opportunity for potential
visitors to see what to expect.

After SFD we (usually) run a Best Event Competition where you can submit
a report with photos and achievements. While SFD highlights 3 to 6 teams
I think it's good for yourself to either blog about it or use any social
media that is your usual way of communicating to show that.
Reporting is actually a quite difficult and time intensive thing to do
but it's a good proof that your event went well too, and let others know
about it.

Other teams experience may vary and it'd be interesting to hear also
from them

Thanks a lot!

Fred
