By "telegram", do you mean the Telegram instant messenger? Have you considered switching to an actually free, decentralized and secure instant messaging network like (ideally) XMPP, or, failing that, Matrix?
Telegram has a centralized, proprietary server and does not even feature usable end-to-end encryption by default.
If you ask me, yes. my first IM is Matrix. Even for two of the events in which I was involved, whole communication took place in Matrix. Those other programs which were conducted in telegram were organized by others yet one of them made it possible to be in the program through Jitsi. Maybe not a bad idea to share that Gnu Meetup even was streamed to 4 different platform: Peertube, Twitch, Youtube and Aparat (an Iranian video sharing platform) and surprisingly peertube performed the best! Long story short, where ever I was involved, the event was made fully based on Free Software solutions. Videos are also shared on peertube. -- Regards, Mostafa Ahangarha
