Hi Rob,

I am so glad to learn that there will a SFD event in the UK and hopefully one that I can attend considering that I am in the country.

Last year I was the team manager for the SFD 2006 with a woman's organisation called Linux Chix Zimbabwe. If you remember we won the 1st prize world wide. I would like to help with you in organising your event because of my previous experience.

Send me an email and give more detail on what you plan the event to be like.

Subject: [SFD-discuss] SFD in Devon, UK

Hi folks,

I'm not sure if this is the right mailing list to announce our SFD event
on or not so apologies if I should have announced it on the other list.

Anyway, I'd like to announce a SFD event in Devon.  Actually we're
looking at running two events, one in the Exeter area of Devon (East
Devon) and the other in Plymouth (West area of Devon).

We are hoping to hold these events at the respective Universities in
Plymouth and Exeter (although this is yet to be confirmed), otherwise
we're looking at booking a hotel conference room for the day.

This is the first SFD event I have been involved with.  I was a bit late
last year to get involved although I did run an install day with the
proceeds going to charity which was fairly successful considering the
short notice I had to set it up.

At the event we are holding we're hoping to provide facilities for
members of the public to come along and have a play with some Free
Software, and if they bring their computers along to have the software
installed.  I was wondering if it was okay to maybe charge a small fee
for installing things such as Linux on their computers with the profits
all going to local charities?

Anyway, if there is anyone in the Devon area who would like to help,
feel free to drop me an e-mail on/off list, or you can find me on the
Devon & Cornwall LUG list at http://www.dclug.org.uk

Ta,

Rob
