Dear all,
We've finally put up a countdown banner (190x200) to SFD. Currently only in English but we have the abilities to translate it as well.
The countdown is so imprecise.
In what way is it imprecise? We offer support for about 40 time zones. Can you be more specific? Based on the earlier countdown, What earlier countdown we are
planning for 15th Sept (IST) :)
Too bad: we can't support different dates for everyone. The countdown works only for the official date and adjust to your timezone on that date (assuming you pick the right UTC zone).
Friday the 16th would be better.
Our team (ILUG-CalInfo) plans to hold an advanced seminar at Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata on the day.
You should either use the Ubuntu code which is referenced in the wiki (simpler) or ours (but you don't need 40 timezones) and adapt it to your specific date. All the images are available for download and you will only need to host the python script + about 32 image files. Nothing impossible really ;-)
The goal is also to improve the user base among technical people. Great aim, those can be a difficult audience as being technical they might think what they already know is better than what they don't know. Congratulations!
