It turns out that Oktoberfest in Fredericksburg this year is, once again, on the International date for Software Freedom Day. As we amply observed last year, it's a challenge to try to talk software with people who are focused on beer--(understandably).
As a practical matter, we've moved our FredLUG date for SFD to
We too in Europe/Germany/Bavaria/Munich http://www.berklix.org/sfd/ moved ours some time back, to avoid http://www.oktoberfest.de/en/ (& to avoid end of holiday away period & enjoy last of good weather etc, our SFD is in lecture rooms etc, not outside) In case it interests a few, Algorithm for Munich Oktoberfest is: It ends on 1st [full 2 day suppose] weekend in October, & starts 2 weeks before, so 16 days in all, Except some years inc. this year Mon 3rd Oct is a public holiday, so 17 days. (It started a couple of hundred years back as a horse race after a marriage).
