There're going to be a few seasoned Free Software users over the place, and the data is being collected on who may share its experiences about which software in informal talks, showing the examples, or helping to solve particular tasks with the tools being presented (should some unoccupied computers be available at a time.) These people would easily be able to provide the ones who'd become interested (or curious) about a software package with all the necessary information. With regards to the purpose, the worst entry in this list is probably the one about Freeciv: the place will be available to the participants for 3 hours at most, and it'd clearly be not enough for anyone to really see this wonderful game in action.
